After receiving the info from Katherine, you head off to the police station. Over there, Heizou is waiting impatiently fo greet you.
“Traveller! I was wondering when you would arrive!”, enthusiastically said Heizou.
Heizou hands you a thick file. The top paper reads “The lost Ogawa property”. You skim through the documents. In there are statements from members of the Ogawa clan, all testifying of the lost treasure of the clan.
“This case has been inactive for months now, but i believe with the help of the illustrious traveller, it’s still possible to solve it.”, said Heizou.
You continued to read the papers, examining plans of a house, maps of the city, pictures of ancient relics and family heirlooms. The last page contained Arakan Ogawa’s will. There was however no mention of the lost property.
“The Ogawa clan was never as prestigious as the Kamisato or Kaedehara clans, but it was always a rich one, with rumours of a big treasure hidden away. However, the head of the clan, Arakan Ogawa, died without giving any clues as to wear he hid the treasure to any of the heirs.”, explained Heizou.
“I see… everything was handled by the police station, but the treasure was never found, is that right?”, you asked, closing the case file and putting it on Heizou’s desk.
“I see you’re all caught up! The other day, i was out late to take a walk. I was thinking about this case and wanted to check it out again. But it’s no fun all alone, right, traveller?”, said Heizou with a smile.
You returned the smile, shyly looking away. You packed a few things in your bag, grabbed the file, and took off with Heizou to the Ogawa house.
Located Northwest of Inazuma city, the Ogawa manor stands alone in the middle of the forest. It’s modest architecture contrasts with that of the Kamisato estate. A few flowers were planted around, and a small set of wooden stairs lead to the front door.
“No one’s been here in ages, it should be unlocked.”, said Heizou. He turned the knob, and the door squeaked open.
The inside was dark and dusty, clearly showing the house had been abandoned for a while. Lots of dead potted plants laid around, along with simple furniture. It was not stately like what you had seen when you visited Ayaka, but it was still obvious it was more than an average family who once lived here.
“As you’ve probably assumed, i’ve already searched the obvious spots, like the kitchen cabinets, under the bathroom sink, loose floorboards and under the mattress in the master’s bedroom. We’ve gotta be creative.”, explained the detective.
You toured the house, looking inside teapots, flower vases and perfume bottles in hope of a clue. Still, nothing came up. After an hour, you joined Heizou to sit in the living room.
“Nothing. Sorry.”, you sighed, sitting down.
“Nothing on my end either… But there was always something that bothered me in Arakan Ogawa’s will.”, said Heizou.
You took the file out of your bag and handed it to Heizou. The boy read the will again and again, before abruptly looking up to you.
“Ah!”, he exclaimed. He turned the paper so you’d see what he was pointing to.
A strange bit on the paper was written in a different ink. The letters were bolder, and a slightly paler shade of black.
“I’ve seen this before… we need to put it in water!”, you quickly explained.
You both hurried to the nearest sink, and ran the will under the cold tap water.
The letters changed, forming the word “push”. You looked at Heizou, and you both knew what you had to do.
Both going in a different direction, you started looking at the walls and ornements for something to push, a mechanism, anything.
After a while, only one room was left; the bedroom at the center of the house. You both started searching together, sliding your hands across the walls and lifting things up.
Too focused on your search, you didn’t notice Heizou right behind you. You both turned around at the same time, and your faces were only inches from each other’s. You could feel Heizou warmth on your skin, an his sweet, yet breezy smell.
You blushed, but the detective only smiled.
“Don’t be so nervous now, traveller.”, he whispered.
He leaned in to kiss you, his lips tasting like dango and boba, spreading their tenderness on yours. You grabbed on your the table, accidentally activating a handle under it.
The hidden handle opened a passageway on the wall you were leaning on, and the kiss broke when you fell in the secret room.
Still flustered, you quickly got up.
“Traveller, you’re amazing… I never thought we’d find it, if i’m being honest.”, said Heizou, looking around with starry eyes.
“What? Then why did you…”, you started.
“Simple. I wanted to spend time with you. But looks like we actually made it. The renowned traveller truly is amazing!”, said the young man, beaming now.
You both investigate the hidden chamber, and found the long lost treasure of the Ogawa clan. After contacting the heir of the clan and returning the goods and filing some papers at the police station, you finally get some alone time with Heizou.
Aika Ogawa thanks you both and closed the door behind her. You slowly turn to Heizou, suddenly feeling nervous. He gently takes your hands in his, and clears his throat.
“Y/k i… I thought this case was hopeless. I just used it as a pretext to spend time with you. But you really are like the legends…”, he whispered.
“That’s not true, it was a mere-”, you started, but Heizou’s lips crashed on yours again. Warm and sweet, you loved how they felt on yours.
“I’ve got more cases like this… might landing me a hand someday?”, asked Heizou with a wink.
You replied by kissing the young detective once more.
