“Dinner’s done.” Richard grinned as he handled the very much full glasses of wine, careful not to spill anything on his couch or carpet as he sat down and offered one of them to Hades. “This is the night I was looking forward to.” It had been quite some weeks for the two of them, he was glad they could finally have a night for themselves. “Now, if you really want to get frisky tonight; may I interest you in my vast board game selection?” He teased before taking a good sip of his wine, licking the taste off his lips.

Hades stared at him as he carefully balanced the glasses and placed them on the table. He tried hard not to laugh, knowing if he gave in so quickly Richard would be insufferable later. Not that he’d actually mind. “Is this the bottle from Berlin?” He inquired, taking a moment to swill the wine around before carefully smelling it. “Wow, that sounds like the most exciting night we could have.” He replied sarcastically, giving him a little smirk. “I also have a vast selection of games I can play with you, but I’m afraid they’re of a different nature.”

“I’m not wearing a tie, how much looser do you expect me to be?” Rick’s immediate response came in the form of a side smirk and a reply that very much didn’t match the lower tone Hades had chosen; though in all fairness, the proximity did have the desired effect on him. “All I’m hearing is how dashingly gallous I’m perceived by you, Hadey.” Richard, for all he didn’t care for any Carnival distractions, was perfectly happy watching the man have a go at the game. “My hero.” Rick, with the same arm he was using to hold the bear, draped the limb over Hades’ shoulders in a definitive We’re leaving now. Yes? Good. gesture before resuming his previous walk. “Does that mean you are in on this as well? If I have to be honest, you’ve outdone yourself from the car in Hawaii– I might need to order us some of that coffee, now that I think about it.”

“Yes, I noticed that. How positively careless of you, you look disheveled.” Hades replied, shaking his head at him. He couldn’t help but smile at his words, but took a step back. “I see, then you might want to consider some sort of hearing aid.” He couldn’t believe he was playing at a ring toss, but then again the school had asked teachers to be participative in students’ extracurriculars and support them and such... This could be his participation of the year. He let his gaze linger on the bear now hanging beside his shoulder. “You can use it as a mop, maybe.” He half-joked as they walked away. He chuckled at the memory. “That was a long time ago. And no, I was just having a stroll around when I saw you, but I won’t reject a cup of coffee.”

“It goes without saying I did not ask for this and will definitely not give it a try.” Richard finished his sentence with an amused scoff, trying to give back the set of plastic rings a very desperate young woman had basically thrown at him– one who wouldn’t stop smiling and urging him to win one of the stuffed animals he very well didn’t have any use for. “Are they keeping you hostage in this carnival?” He questioned her, unaware someone had joined the scene.

“Oh, come on, Dicky. Don’t be so uptight, give it a try, have some fun! You need to let loose from time to time!” Hades urged him in a high tone of voice that was meant to imitate the other man’s indignant protest. “See how infuriating that can be?” He whispered, leaning close to his ear. Without waiting for a reply he turned to the girl, gave her a withering glare and took the rings from her hand. After some quick tosses he handed the stuffed bear to Richard. “They do it for extra credit.” He explained.

“Ah, Miss Andrina Triton in the flesh.” Hades commented in a suave voice, moving to seat close to the girl that had once been one of his best students. “I always enjoy meeting my last favorites.” He commented. “What have you been doing lately?

“Listen…” His face was frozen in a grin that was bound to break into a laugh sooner rather than later. “…I can’t blame you for questioning my methods but, it is working, is it not?” Charles scoffed amusedly, hiding his face behind one of his hands. “If bloody mess was what you were hoping to achieve here, you are very welcome.”

“Sure... Except I actually needed the essence to not burn away...” He mumbled, bitting his lip and trying to glare at him. “You can’t just crank up the heat and hope it gets done faster every time.” He lifted a finger. “And before you say anything, no, you cannot do that with cooking either.”

“Maybe– but, when do I ever let that stop me?” Despite his slight grin, Rick was actually paying attention. “Please, Hades, please explain to me how that makes sense. Water bearer? No? Anyone?” He looked around as if he was going to stop and ask the next person that made eye contact with him. “I see.” He stated simply, holding out one of his hands up to the left side of his own chest. “Oh no, no sign of movement here. Guess I’ll have to hand it to you, you make a compelling argument.” Richard shrugged, a little smile pulling at the corner of his lips as he returned Hades’ gaze. “Not a chance. The only force on Earth that gets to successfully boss me around is giving me the evil eye right this moment.”

“Unfortunately, never.” Hades admitted with a sight and a begrudging smile. “The water bearer is an archetypical representation. That does not mean the sign has to forcefully meet that detail.” He sighed. “Virgo is represented by a virgin and that in now way means all Virgos are virginal. Believe me, I’ve proved that theory myself.” Hades states at him, wondering just what he was about to do and chuckled at his antics. “Well that must mean your dead. I guess I’ve been talking to a ghost this whole time. Figures.” He scoffed. “If you think this is the evil eye I pity the future you, whenever you actually make me angry.”

“You can’t blame me for exploring. Perhaps some day I will find that place where you’ll be able to look at me without hatred.” Don quietly asked for a drink as he took in his brother’s words. “How about, we are having a drink next to each other, it’s not the end of the world.” He replied a bit tiredly, unaware of the slight pressure at the back of his head; he felt reassured at the sight of his drink, Don took a small sip before stifling an amused scoff under the liquid. “Is it? I presume you haven’t heard yourself as of late.” Though lighthearted, Don slightly feared the reception to the weak jab.

“All circles of hell would freeze over before that. And they won’t. Believe me.” Hades replies, holding back a hiccup and drinking more instead. He rolled his eyes, knocking the rest of the drink. “Maybe it isn’t. But that doesn’t mean I’ll put up with it.” He stood up, leaving his empty glass at the table and slightly stumbling away. He moved as far as he trusted himself to move before risking a quick trip to the floor. He had had a lot more to drink than he’d originally thought. “Yes and unlike you I feel. I need to force others to unwillingly listen to my irritatingly self-important banter.” He grumbled intelligibly to himself, knowing there was not much more he could do in the state he was currently in.

“I know they are not. I am sorry for asking in a way that made it seem like I don’t. I just wanted to know if it actually worked. I would have asked you a favor if it did, but you don’t have to! I bothered you enough. Besides, I do not think that there is anything I can promise that will be enough to pay for you using your powers for me.” Gadget leaned forward as she showed Hades a small smile. “The last thing that I want to do is let them down.”

Hades’ brow furrowed as he let the young woman talk to what seemed to be a denial of her desire to contact the dead. Apparently he’s put her off the idea very quickly. He’s normally take this a sign that whoever she’d wanted to talk to or whatever she’d wanted to do wasn’t really important or worth it, but something about the way she replied made him think otherwise. “So... you don’t want to contact anyone?” He asked, his tone dubious. The last sentence really caught him off guard. “Let who down?”

Tam sat back in their chair and raised a brow as they listened to the instructions. “So you’re saying that this stuff is… real? You can really do something like this?” Although they were trying to ease their usual sarcasm into their tone their voice was quiet and broke a tiny bit. “Whatever, I’ll pay whatever, but I have no idea what I could possibly give in return for… what I want. I just need some.. advice. From my dad.”

 “I can as long as the other spirit is willing to receive my call, I will not force them to if they’re not.” The man replied. He could, in theory, force them to come but he would not breech the careful agreement he had with the souls he presided over. “Let me think….” He cliqued his tongue but decided to offer them the same agreement he’d been offering as of late. “You may owe me a favor, that can be your payment and I will collect when needed.” He leaned back on his chair. “It’ll be a reasonable favor, of course. A lot of people seem to be in the need of contacting their progenitors as of late. I can’t say I relate, but we can try to have a conversation with him.”

Wendy couldn’t help but smile, even if it was a wry attempt at hiding her increasing frustration. “I can pay you money, but I feel you have enough. What do you want me to give? As for your other question, I want to speak to my father, really.” Her lips curled into a sneer. “I recognize that they aren’t genies or fairy godmothers, but I have no wish for them to grant. I wish for a conversation. Please.”

Hades stared at the young woman, considering. He was trying and holding himself back from snapping at her in any way, it’d been a while since he’d done private callings on the dead and he thought it was good to keep up the practice. She looked innocent enough, not like she’d try to make any sort of crazy plans whilst contacting with the other side. “Fine. You will pay attention to what I say and if it gets ugly, which can happen sometimes, I will break the connection immediately.” He explained. “And you will owe me a favor that I will come and collect later, when needed. That’ll be the payment. As for your father... Do you have anything of his to sacrifice for the ritual? And I would need his full name.”

“I can’t count the times I’ve had to explain this completely concept.” Hades sighed. “The dead don’t just grant wishes. They’re not genies or fairy godmothers. You want information or help form the Other World? You need to promise something in return.” Hades leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. “And I’ll require moderate payment too, for the service I’ll provide to help you contact them and fulfill your part of the deal. Because, trust me, you can not let them down.” The man looked at the other with a softer gaze. “So, what is it you need, exactly? And do you have an idea of what you could give in return?”

“No. That’s not how it...” Hades shook his head at the smiling man beside him. “I’m fairly sure that’s not how you’re supposed to do it, Charles..” He made a conscious effort to hold back his laugh.

“If it isn’t Costa Serena’s favorite Evil Queen.” Hades smiled, sitting beside the elegant woman. “Taking a break from the employees? Or the associates?” The man tried to guess as he nursed his drink.

“Sure, Hadey. The sign that starts with aqua is in no way related to water. There’s a liar between us and this time, it’s not the lawyer.” Richard tried his hardest and successfully achieved to suppress his laugh; letting go of the cup as the other man took it. “Besides, if I wanted to get any more special favors from you–” He smirked as he slid his free arm over Hades’ shoulders, shamelessly leaning down to kiss him for a moment; he licked his lips as he broke apart. “–I’d just do this.”

“Actually, I do not think it counts as lying because you quite literally have no idea what you’re talking about.” Hades replied with an eye roll. “Aquarius is called that way because it’s represented by the Water Bearer constellation. It is, however, an air sign.” Hades bumped his shoulder against his, shaking his head but letting him kiss him. “You really think you have a water star sign? Let me list their qualities, see if they fit you. Sensitive, sentimental, dreamy and impulsive. Maybe the last one. Also, guided by their emotions.” He narrowed his eyes at him. “Feel like it fits you?”
