Ayato calls out oh so casually, eyes glued to the papers on his desk. The sound of pen scratching against paper was the only thing that can be heard in his room which was disrupted by the sound of his office door opening, and the sound of your voice calling out his name.

"Ayato..."

Usually, just the sight of you would be enough to spark the light in Ayato's eyes, the sound of your voice enough for his lips to upturn into a smile even if he tries to hold it back—but today is different. The shakiness and panic of your voice was what made him snap his head towards you, and his eyes widen at the sight of his beloved.

Trembling, shaking like a leaf, with fat rolls of tears streaming down your cheeks. You sob as your arms hug your torso, desperately trying to calm yourself down and your eyes never daring to look straight into his.

The sight of you was enough to freeze the Yashiro Commissioner in place, but that wasn't even the worst of it, no. What truly induced him to a state of panic was the stain on your pristine white clothing, the one custom made to match his—allowing all of Inazuma to know just whom you belong to.

Splotches of crimson decorate your clothes, a stark contrast to the light colors of your outfit.

There's blood on your clothing.

The moment he gets over his initial shock, the clan head was swift to get to his feet, approaching his lover. His eyebrows scrunched, swallowing the saliva that has built up in his throat before cupping his beloved's cheek, his lavender eyes darting across your features as he examines you for injuries.

Much to his confusion, however, you seem perfectly fine physically and not in any pain.... and you kept on repeating the same words to him over... and over.. and over again.. like a broken record.

"I'msorry. I'msosorry." you spoke so quickly that Ayato wouldn't have understood you had you not been repeating this for who knows how many times now, eyes glazed over with newly formed tears, "I'm so sorry, Ayato. I didn't mean to. I'm sorry."

"Love," Your lover calls out, his hands sliding down to hold your shoulder in an attempt to comfort you but to no effect. You continue to tremble beneath his touch, still refusing to look at him.

"Darling," he tries again, but he still couldn't get through to you, "Please.."

He seems to have finally caught your attention, your crazed eyes meeting his for the first time and Ayato took this opportunity to gauge out your emotions; Panic. Guilt. Regret.

"What happened?" His voice was as soft as ever, but that wasn't what you heard.

In your eyes, he looked at you with hatred. In your ears, he spoke with judgement and disdain. The warmth of his hand on your shoulder felt like it was burning and you wanted to push him away but found no strength to. His lavender eyes, usually so warm and comforting, now so cold and venomous because of your mistake.

"I'm sorry, Ayato. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry,"

Ayato dislikes people who hurt others for their own gain.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Please, please,"

Ayato dislikes corrupt officials, he does not approve of the way they trample over others' lives.

"Please don't hate me, Ayato, Please, I didn't know what came over me,"

Ayato dislikes those who hurt innocent civilians.

"I didn't mean to kill her!"

Ayato doesn't approve of murderers.

You feel your soul leave your body as all color leave your lover's face. Somehow, his gaze fixing you with a blank stare was worse than him yelling at you to leave his office, or yelling at someone to get the Tenryou Commission to lock you behind bars—where you truly belong.

His silence prolongs, and you panic even more than you already were. More tears fell from your eyes, your lips wobbling and your hands shaking terribly as you brought them up to hold on to his clothing.

"Ayato, please, I don't- she was-" You try to form words, begging him to stay, "She was so close to you- and I- I loathed her for that. She kept flirting with you and I- Please... Please don't leave me."

You clench the fabric of his clothing in your fists so hard that your knuckles turn white. You look down and press your forehead against his chest, not wanting to see the loving gaze he always grazed you with turn into a look of pure and utter disgust.

This is it. He's going to leave you. He hates you. He-

Much to your surprise, however, it was quite the opposite.

Instead of pushing you away, his arms wrap around your torso instead, embracing you tightly, pulling you close to his comforting warmth. A gasp leaves your lips out of surprise, before you slowly melt into his arms.

"Don't worry," he softly whispers, hands running soft, comforting circles on your back, "I'm not going to leave you. Not now, not ever."

You thought of looking up to his expression to see if he was being genuine, but you suddenly felt overwhelmed by the constant adrenaline rush you had the whole day that the brief moment of respite was something you were thankful for. And so, you buried your face into his chest and cried instead.

On the other hand, your lover feels quite conflicted about all of this. This whole incident is just another huge problem to add to the pile of his already growing worries and conflicts, another trouble to add to his already overflowing plate.... So why?

Why is he grinning so much?

Everything he has worked to the bone for will come crashing down the moment someone else finds out about this, and yet, he feels like he is on cloud nine after hearing your confession.

You love him that much? So much that you would kill an innocent woman just to keep him by your side?

You didn't feel him let out a shuddering sigh of pleasure at the thought, his lovestruck grin still refusing to leave his face. His hand rubbing circles on your back slides up to run through your hair, placing a loving kiss on your temple. He didn't know it was possible to fall even more in love with you than he already was, but you proved him wrong right at the moment.

Still, he would have to cover up your tracks. If the Tenryou Commission or the public were to catch wind of this, the Kamisato Clan would be put under roaring flames, and that wouldn't be pleasant for either you nor Ayaka.

"Don't think about it anymore." he whispers, voice comforting, "I'll take care of everything."

you tried to thaw in your glare and she ignored you in favor of nestling into her father's arms, much to your dismay.

"i carry you in my womb for nine months, give birth to you, and ask you for love and affection and this is how you repay me?"

diluc grins and you pout on. the child snoozes in her father's arms contentedly before he gets up to place her in the nursery bed.

a minute ticks and he walks back in only to approach you and lift you up onto his lap. the crimson haired ragvindr swoops in to kiss your lips.

"you're irresistable when you're jealous,"

diluc purrs into the crook of your neck, trailing silent kisses along the shell of your earlobe while you maintained your glare in response to your beating heart.

when he can say a lot of vulgar words in bed but he can't handle just this once, you shook your head in amusement. as if on cue, your little girl's wail resounded through the living room from the nursery.

"i'll take care of her this time," heaving a sigh, you rolled up your sleeves and passed your choking husband a cup of water. entering the star-speckled room, your form relaxed when her arms were already reached out to you; teary red orbs looking at you while her strawberry hair was in a rat's nest from the abrupt intrusion to an afternoon nap.

diluc watched from the shadows as you picked her up, smoothing her hair and wiping the droplets of water from her cranberry eyes. and just like that, the child fisted her meaty toddler hands and rested herself onto your chest calmly.

it was proven as to what they say; (for who they were, diluc didn't know) a mother's touch can be magic.

"there, there," you crooned for better measure, melting into the strong pair of arms that had encircled you both in a warm cocoon. the little girl in your arms smiled toothily and you fell in love with her more deeply than when she first came out into the world.

"...love you," was what he says a moment after quiet.

his soft words slid into the toddler's eardrums, yet even you knew who they were aimed at- and so you gave a soft reply in turn.

"i love you too."

the moments ticked by and it was a little while before you spoke again.

"i know she'll grow up knowing she's loved," you whispered. he cracks a smile at that. diluc could not help but agree more as he leaned over to steal a kiss from your lips.

he couldn't help it. your flustered demeanor from earlier seduced him so much. just as the redhead was about to kiss your and press on your thighs invitingly once more did you swat his wandering hands.

"not in front of the child," your chide made him grunt in displeasure.

"witch," he grumbles and you laugh, little chortles that did not bother your toddler's sleeping figure in your arms, "you've left me all hot and bothered."

"i'll be back later," he leaned in to rub your swollen stomach and kiss you on the cheek affectionately. once he was out the door though, your smile faded and you turned to the other people who remained in the room.

"now," you crossed your fingers, "let's talk about the baby situation."

ernest jolted in his seat, "i have work to do my lady! please excuse me-"

"if you can fill your stomach with food from good hunter's for seven days then you can also siphon in your work for a moment," it was a perfect block. the others who planned on escaping the same way as ernest backtracked and remained.

"what else could be called a situation, my liege?" adelinde gently refuted.

"yeah!"

"you're too tight on it, madam!" you glared at the maids moco and hillie who spoke from the top of your eyelids and they flinched.

"still, seven wooden cradles-!"

"no matter how high your wages are, seven cradles are just too much!" your face darkened.

"it seems i might have to ask diluc to cut your wages in half to make you stop giving gifts."

the servants deflated. seeing their faces, you sighed.

"it's alright. one cradle is enough, but don't add anymore to the pile."

you reminded them and soon turned towards your mother and father who were eating their breakfast silently, flinching when they met your eyes.

"thank you for the baby clothes mother-"

"-oh that was the last one i put in the baby drawers," your mother calmly cut you off while she wiped her mouth properly with the napkin.

"and the toys father-"

"that was also the last one i put in the toy chest. you won't have to worry since they're all soft and durable so it'll last a long time," your father replied and gave you a gentle smile. you grinned back and stood up from your seat only to double over.

"my lady!"

despite the kicks from the baby that kept coming, you gritted your teeth and spoke as calmly as you could possible.

"it's alright. just please escort me to the maternity room."

the midwife was waiting by the time you had arrived.

in angel's share, diluc felt the sudden chill on his spine since that morning. he bid you goodbye as he still has to settle his pending affairs seperately so he could spend time with you until you managed to regain your strength.

this time, the chill worsened like ice creeping up his neck and towards his temples. at the same time, ernest from the dawn winery management burst in the bar and headed towards him, gasping as he was out of breath.

gritting his teeth, the redheaded ragnvindr started running all the way towards the manor, speeding past trees, houses and surprised people and monsters alike.

he arrived at the manor door. nobody was working at the moment as they were all inside anxiously waiting.

in the maternity room, your mother wiped the sweat from your brows as you smiled gratefully.

"i wish your father outside was as brave as your other half."

"how's father?"

"people might think he's in labor, not you."

you laughed a little at that. it was as if you weren't in pain at all.

this is okay. i'll be strong. let's just wait a little more until he comes.

the door suddenly burst open and diluc stood in the doorway. the cool scent of pines and fresh grapes flew into your nostrils and soothed you, although you began to tear up at the sight of him.

"you- you idiot," your chokes made his ruby eyes go watery, "why... did you just got here?"

"sorry. i'm sorry sweetheart," his whisper was quiet yet nobody in the room did not hear it.

the strength you thought you had washed away. your arms began to shake in your mother's hold. yet you still found the courage to smile at him.

the memory you had of the time was sparse. you did not want to remember the sensations it brought you. however, you faintly heard,

the moment you said those words, diluc ultimately thought it was a prank you conjured up on that very afternoon and decided to entertain the whims of a wife lest you come up to the unlikely conclusion that he doesn't love you anymore because he ignored you (which is also super unlikely considering you gave him as much space as you can possible due to the nature of his work).

the carmine skies were perfect for a stroll through the grapevines, which had you pulling his arms up to one of the hills overlooking the vineyards. a picnic blanket was set and although it wasn't a prank, the redhead immediately knew what it was.

"cloud watching today?"

you shrugged, "i had to let you take a break. your arms were sweltering like crazy."

"oh."

"and you stink from being cooped up at your desk all day long. it reminds me of my once-a-month endeavors."

"i know you did not just compare my sweat to your, er- monthly release."

you cracked up and he smiled while watching you laugh to your heart's content. for some reason, your complexion seems to be glowing today. diluc chalked it up to you using a new lotion imported from liyue that seems to make your skin shiny.

while you ate over cannoli, cheese sandwhiches and cups of iced berry juice, you began telling diluc of your many endeavors with bennett, jack, and the other adventurers.

in your relationship, diluc was mostly contented with listening to you, but today was one of the days when he noticed your sweating hands and slight tremors between chatters.

"-my love," his tone was clear and gentle. diluc rarely interrupted you and whenever it did, it made you quiet almost instantly.

"I TOLD YOU I'M PREGNANT YOU DAMN-" your swear was interrupted by the cheers of the workers who took care of the vineyard. at the entrance of the house, adelinde wiped a tear while mocco and hillie grabbed each other and squealed.

diluc's laugh was loud as he gripped your waist to twirl you in the air despite your protests ("i'm heavy!") and set you down, grazing his thumbs underneath your eyes.

"i don't care how heavy you are. i want you to know that no matter how much you'll change, no matter how much weight you gain or lose, i'll still love you all the same. so," his smile was bright and his eyes crinkled into red crescents,

"aughh..." you began to tear up.

the way of the househusband au masterlist

INTIMIDATES BASHERS - zhongli, diluc, itto, and xiao

ZHONGLI’s rolled up sleeves that shows his battle scars are enough for people who attempt to bash the two of you to not do anything at all, giving the ex-yakuza all the more reasons to be proud of his scars and not be ashamed to show them. though, you gotta admit, you’re surprised that it intimidated people despite the apron he always wears.

when you do encounter a basher that actually has the nerve to bash, zhongli first lets his scars intimidate the person and try to reason with them, keeping you beside him protectively in hopes of the basher not trying to harm you.

if the basher is stubborn and tries to harm the both of you regardless of your lover’s attempts, this is when rex lapis comes out in the light instead of zhongli.

you could only watch as your husband grips the basher’s shoulder in a tight manner, his eyes narrowing as the atmosphere grew tense.

“how would you feel about living in prison for a while?”

DILUC’s aloof attitude alongside his muscular form often intimidated people around him and he definitely isn’t complaining — especially since it backs off those who could attempt to hurt you because of your lifestyle with him, so the chance of getting bashed was only a 1% possibility.

however, the possibility is never a zero.

your harasser didn’t even know that your husband is the intimidating bartender that cleans glasses 24/7 because he only overheard you gushing to your friend about your lovely househusband in the bar where he drinks, so things didn’t go well with the person when your husband caught him sputtering insults and nearly punched you when you insulted him back.

customers and your friend could only watch as some asshole who didn’t know anything better get scared by diluc’s haunting glare and cowardly backed off when the red-haired man calmly ordered him to get out, causing your harasser muttering out insincere comments before taking his leave.

despite the situation being dealt with, we all know diluc would feel guilty if you ever get hurt because of him being a househusband :((

nevertheless though, his guilt that sometimes creeps in him disappears when he sees you giving such a blessing smile, telling him how you’re grateful to have a wonderful househusband like him and how you love him so much despite his past :))

ITTO honestly didn’t intend to intimidate people with his stature and muscular scar-covered body and he’s incredibly oblivious from that fact. however, you are really thankful that his intimidated appearance is enough to make bashers back off - especially since your neighbors warned you and itto about bashers that lurks around the small town.

if there was someone who somehow had the metal balls to bash you not knowing that your househusband is a literal beefy muscular man who can probably crush someone’s head with his bare hands who’s standing nearby, he’ll immediately tackle him down and make you call the police for an attempted harassment.

although your husband isn’t as… violent as most househusbands in this post, he’s the only one who does the most rational thing and call the cops, simply because he’s a literally nice guy that just follows the law now.

XIAO’s eyes are something that catches people’s attention, only for them to immediately feel scared of him because of his rest-bitch face. if looks could kill, xiao would’ve already killed millions, that’s what people will think to themselves whenever they walk pass the ex yakuza.

unfortunately, this doesn’t go the same for certain people because of xiao’s height, especially that one basher that spat out insults after insults because of your lifestyle with xiao — that is, until your husband takes one good look at the basher with a scary glare with intent to kill — and that was enough for the person to shut his mouth up and stare in fear.

you gotta admit, it was pretty hot. but scary as well. but mostly hot.

THREATENS BASHERS - kaeya and thoma

KAEYA will instantly take a hold on the person from going after you, staring at them with a cold gaze that replaced the loving look he gives to you and only you.

he may have promised that he wouldn’t hurt anyone anymore to you, but it doesn’t mean he promised that he’ll not do it verbally. all it took was for your husband to lean in on your assaulter’s ear and whisper a few words that made him shiver in fear and try to get away from kaeya.

when you asked kaeya what he said to the basher, his expression instantly comes back into a loving one, cupping your cheek with his one hand as he tells you it’s nothing for you to worry about.

THOMA will immediately put himself between you and your basher before stopping them from their attempted harassment. it was definitely strange to see your husband taking the situation so light heartedly as he treats your harasser like they’re old friends — but then the blonde haired man whispers something that made the basher look at him in confusion, giving you and thoma a chance to walk away from the incident with no injuries and worries.

so imagine your surprise when you saw your basher standing at your front door the day after the incident, muttering so much apologies as he kneels on the ground and begs for forgiveness to you. just what did thoma do to scare this poor guy?!

FIGHTS BASHERS BACK - childe, scaramouche

CHILDE will not take the basher slightly — especially if they were aiming to attack you first under his watch. seriously, were they asking for a death wish when they tried to hurt an ex-yakuza’s spouse right in front of him? childe amuses to himself, watching as the basher cowardly steps away when he sees childe bringing out a gun.

oh, you don’t have to worry about witnessing the poor bastard’s death by your husband - the gun is simply a prop that can scare off people like your assaulter, so no need to try and stop him, just watch the show and see if the man learned his lesson <<3 you wanted to ask why on earth your husband has a gun prop, but you honestly don’t wanna find out.

what’s not a prop are the two blades that childe brings out when he stands in front of the basher’s home, smiling menacingly as he goes closer and closer to the front door.

despite failing in being intimidating to others outdoors and not in his old organization anymore, SCARAMOUCHE makes it up through his violent verbal assault. he’s probably the only househusband that made you encounter a few bashers who aren’t scared of scaramouche’s appearance.

however, your lover is one of the only househusbands who won’t hesitate to go violent (verbally and physically) against someone who’d have the audacity to assault you. it didn’t matter if the incident occur in public, his major priority is you and your safety, so he’d be damned if he’d let this bastard’s disgusting behavior slide just because he has an audience.

so when a certain basher took things way too far, it simply end up with the basher feeling like an embarrassment to this world and a traumatized memory of scaramouche’s colorful words.
