One of the things I love about Midnights is how Taylor kind of deconstructs her and Joe’s relationship and how she’s romanticized it in the past. Yes, he was rare as a comet in the sky and there was an invisible string tying him to her. But he was also the guy she (maybe) fucked around with behind a couple of other guys’ backs because she was afraid to love him. And yes, he loves and and accepts her in ways that make her feel real and human. But he wasn’t afraid to fight and call her on her bullshit and (maybe) come close to leaving to get her to realize he wouldn’t be a target or a doormat for her demons. And somehow it makes their bond feel stronger because they’ve been through real, deep, messy stuff that a fairy tale romance wouldn’t be able to survive.

There's something very romantic about the fact that this album likely wouldn't exist without the process of her combing through her old albums and reliving all of the memories associated with the music that got her to where she is. This is going to be so so so special.
