Translator's Notes

王子化現象 (oujika genshou), the title of the song, means Princeification Phenomenon. I originally used this in the translation and the title itself, but then I noticed O-jika Gensho was written in the thumbnail, so I used that instead.

On that note, it's meant to be the opposite of 蛙化現象 (kaeruka genshou), meaning frogification phenomenon. This is where when someone you like begins to like you back, you feel suddenly feel disgusted instead. So the princeification phenomenon is where even if one is being seen as a "frog" by the person they like, they continue to pursue that love until they are seen as a prince again! This was revealed in appy's quote retweet.

"Familiar with the taste of someone besides me, the tip of that tongue / No face to put to them, but I can’t hit the break on my thoughts...!" ← I'm actually not quite sure if I got these two lines right, but I interpreted it as knowing your partner has had other partners in the past and feeling jealous of them even if you don't know what they looked or acted like. Feel free to correct me if you think otherwise!

"I wanna explore, you’re my mental stabilizer" ← What I translated to "mental stabilizer" was originally 「精神安定剤」 in Japanese, which can directly translate to "tranquilizer." However, since the song seems to have a menhera (mental health-er) theme, I wanted to write the word "mental" outright. It's just a more literal translation, because tranquilizers... reduce mental disturbance... so it's the same...

"Not right, / And not left, / Just look my way and say you love me…!" ← These lyrics all go together! I was worried it wasn't clear, so I wanted to say it here. The right and left that Hizumi and Raimu sing about are discouraging looking in those directions (so that you can look at Micchan, because who wouldn't want to look at Micchan?)

general notes: i don't know what to say. i listened to this song first thing in the morning and now i am incredibly distracted when finals are tomorrow. also, as listed above, appy (you may know from Yummy Yummy High) worked on this song! when i first listened to it i went "wow this really sounds like YYH" so imagine my surprise when i found that out LOL it's an unexpected pick but it fits black flap so well! although i'm not the best with translating things that are about love, i really really love menhera ♡ i'm excited to see how many other genres black flap can pull off!

Translator's Notes

The song's title is read as Kidousen, which is also how it's read in the lyrics. However, ORBIT in big bold letters is plastered everywhere in the MV, so I'm using that as the English title and for whenever it's sung in the translation. 軌道 (kidou) does mean "orbit", but 軌道線 refers to a railway line.

"Clearing up little by little" ← This line uses 「晴れていく」 which is most commonly used to refer to weather, such as rain stopping and clouds clearing up to reveal a sunny sky. I was afraid this wasn't apparent enough, so I wanted to clarify this line specifically!

"I don’t want to sit around just lamenting them, Ah" ← Originally 「嘆くだけじゃ嫌、Ah」 in Japanese, which translates to just "I don't want to just lament, Ah". However, since the previous lines talk about helplessness, I added "sit around" to emphasize that theme. Wanted to note this because I usually try to be as literal as possible with my translations, so adding something extra is pretty rare...

general notes: i really do think that black flap's motif of "hope" really shines through in this song specifically.. i almost cried multiple times while translating this but that wouldn't be any good because i can't type through teary eyes lol! let's keep supporting black flap from now on as always 🙇 + big win for neiromitsu starting off the song again 🐉🍫 (i am a traitor of a ramitsuki oshi)

"I’ll burn a new memory into your mind with this finishing act" ← Originally 「新しい記憶にトドメ刺す舞台を」 in Japanese. 「記憶にとどめ」 means "to keep in mind", while 「トドメを刺す」 means "to deliver a final blow", so I hope that explains the wording I chose here!

"It can’t be stopped, not now; and not so simply, either." ← By "not so simply," Micchan is implying that there'd be consequences for stopping. So cool...

The song's title is 粗探し (searching for faults) written in katakana. Because of this and a lack of official English title, I used romanization for the title! If we want to go for meaning, then I'd call this song Faultfinding in English.

Speaking of meaning, I considered using "nitpicking" instead of "faultfinding". Same meaning, I just ended up liking the alliteration for faultfinding and thought it fit well with the OUT DOUBT parts. Personal preference.

The word for proof (which appears in Black Flap's motto) is 証明. The title of Black Flap's first song, 傷明, shares the same reading (しょうめい, shoumei). Very fun fact!

For Hizumi's profile, he's described as a 「”沼らせ”屋」 – a person who has a charm that'll get you addicted. I localized it to charmer for this reason, though I do think the original word suggests something more extreme than charm (enough to cause obsession?!).

For Micchan's profile, his catchphrase "Get hooked on Mitsuki!" is 「みつきにやみつきっ！」 in Japanese, which is much more clever than what I translated it to. I'll transcribe the romaji, since I don't know how else to explain it; "mitsuki ni yamitsuki!". Get it?
