hi everyone (peepo, 19+) i’m so excited to be here! introducing im haksu, country boy from the south and fae of nature who is hopelessly unaccustomed to academy and city life, and is working towards becoming a capable intelligence specialist. more info under the cut (and if you fav this post i consider it open invitation to manifest in your dms... so watch out...)
overview
im haksu, 24, nature fae
as a little child he was found abandoned at the stretch of woods near the very edge of the border, deep south of maruhan’s wall. people assume that he was left there to die, but no one ever really investigated or found out who did it
this sparks a bunch of nasty rumors about him right away, since everyone knows the area around the border’s edge is dangerous and full of beasts. more superstitious folk in the community were convinced that he was a disguised beast and never really let go of that train of thought, even as he got older
(he has a lot of Repressed Emotions about this)
BUT he was taken in by a couple living nearby - a light and a nature fairy, and grows up on their farm, living a very nice cottagecore-esque rural farming lifestyle. <3
they have a bunch of different crops, some that wouldn’t normally thrive in this climate bc of nature magic, and have a fruit tree orchard (haksu’s fave)
haksu treks down the winding trails to the farmer’s markets every weekend to sell produce, which is where they get most of their income, outside of living frugally
living so close to the edge of the border means frequently warding off beast attacks, but their family has never thought about moving out. they consider it a part of their duty to stay and help the earth recover after every attack, and have been doing so for generations, ever since the war
even though this catches them some flack with surrounding community who all kind of think they have it coming every time they get hit
one night though there’s a really brutal attack (the most brutal of haksu’s life) and one of his mothers is left bedridden from mana overuse. afterwards, their crops start to die out from toxins left behind by the beasts, and haksu doesn’t know what to do, bc everything he tries doesn’t seem to help
eventually he’s recommended to try out for the academy, which he is very reluctant about at first, but gives in so he can help his family better
misc. info
intelligence specialist who has no leadership or communication skills... plus he only speaks in a really thick rural accent which sometimes impedes understanding especially if he has to talk fast and issue team commands about strategy
catch him going “it ain’t so different from herdin’ goats” and no one has a clue how to herd goats except him and he pauses like “... i dunno how else to explain”
also... he’s really kind of a boomer about technology </3 he never used it for anything except calling parents and taking pictures so now that he has to open up holotablets and use them for other purposes too... well he’s real nervous about it LOL
to be honest he’d be better suited for combat and the evaluators knew this but let him choose which he wanted to go for, because he DOES have a lot of knowledge about beasts and good strategic instincts, prob from growing up around animals.. he’s just very bad at communicating it
his weapon of choice is a scythe, which he used frequently back at the farm for both farming and bonking beasts
very shy and reserved, only rly opens up with time... especially around so many non-southerners and ppl of higher class, he does not know how 2 act, and feels pretty self-conscious sometimes
he seems like a big nature lover but then when it comes to everything outside of the barrier he goes full murder machine, no mercy! it’s kind of a jarring change especially to people who are familiar with what he’s like outside of training sims or missions
he doesn’t really have a fashion sense... he wears whatever is comfortable and fits the weather, he probably has a green plastic froggy watch underneath his sleeve to tell the time with ngl he probably wears cheesy free shirts from the farmer’s market that say “you are the apple of my eye” with a picture of an apple on it.. u get the idea
