What are those? Diet pills, OH!
If you, like me, have watched the film Empire Records at least 100 times growing up then you will recognize the title of this post as part of a bitter monologue spoken by one Renee Zellwegger. BUT I digress. I l have always liked to think that I would NEVER be one of those girls who touted colon cleansing or weird diets as the secret of success, but guys I really really like the "Renew Life" line of detox and cleanse programs. Now, I know part of it is "mind over matter." If I know I'm doing this cleanse to get healthier I WILL be successful, but honestly their products are dope. I did a TON of research before I started their 7-day total body Rapid Cleanse last year. It was wonderful - no pain, I felt really energized, and I lost 5 pounds which feels pretty nice when you're trying to kick-start a major weight loss.
Now I'm on to their 14 day "Diet Start Cleanse" and I'm feeling so good! I'm also going to (really, this time I mean it) stick to the 9 week couch to 5k workout and see where I'm at. As for diet I have doctored up a large salad that I eat as part of my lunch and dinner daily, and made a vegan cold sesame soba noodle dish that will serve as my ready-made meal throughout the week.
Full disclosure, last week I sort of hit "rock bottom" when I played Lego Harry Potter (1-4) for about 7 hours and also managed to eat 6 hot dogs in the same span of time, which was pretty much the WORST feeling in the world. That's averaging about a hot dog an hour! Let's just call it my "last hurrah." Also, I was training to beat that one guy.
Anyway, I don't know how y'all feel about cleanses and detox, but I'm definitely a convert now. Not for long periods, but definitely to get your body and mind re-set to a healthy lifestyle.
