Barcelona, Spain
After Mallorca, I flew to meet Kathryn and her friend Ainslie for a weekend in Barcelona. To start off, we went to the market La Boqueria for a fresh fruit juice and it was perfection. The market is huge with everything from fresh fish and meat, empanadas, fruit, candy, and a few tapas bar. There are stands selling juice blends for €1.50. I ended up getting one everyday. Day 1 was mango orange, day two was strawberry orange pineapple, and day 3 was strawberry banana, all excellent. We then got dinner of tapas and sangria.
The next day was Gaudí filled. He's a famous architect who has many famous structures in Barcelona built in his unique style. First we headed to Park Guell for some awesome architecture and views of the city. We even Gaudí's former residence in the park which has been turned into a museum about his life and work. After that we walked over to La Sagrada Familia, a gorgeous basilica built by Gaudí. It was the most beautiful and unique building I've ever seen, inside and out. We then went to La Pedrera and Casa Battlo, apartment buildings by Gaudí. They were also extremely unique. The last day, we got brunch and walked through the gothic neighborhood to see the cathedral. We also visited THE Barcelona City History Museum and got to see the ruins of old Barcelona. That evening, I hopped on a plane to London to continue my adventures!
