Hanami Yama Cafe

Mysterious doors started to show up in random spots around various universes. They don't stay in one place for a long time, but they'll always come back. These doors lead to a modest cafe. Will you stay for a moment to dine?

A mysterious door has appeared! ...But there isn’t supposed to be a door there. Perhaps one could take a peek into it? There seems to be a fragrant smell coming from the other side!

Oh! The door leads to the Hanami Yama Cafe!

A magical cafe that anyone can visit, and we mean anyone. Just be polite and have a seat! We’ll be with you shortly!

Once told he could sit in the seat, he did so but still kept his gaze locked onto the pink flowers above him, he had no idea what these flowers are or why they grew up there. Once asked if he wanted something to eat or drink, Cloud looked over to the lady, remembering a gesture that Tifa taught him during is first few days of activation was a wave and smile to greet someone new – With a smile and a wave, Cloud processed his answer to her question.

“[Iced water]… Yes please.” He wondered if they shook the drinks like Tifa did at the bar, “It may not pour if the water is iced too much, be careful.” Completely misunderstanding what ‘iced water’ meant but it was completely innocent, the bar didn’t have ice cubes so he hasn’t experienced or seen ice outside of blizzard spells; when he found out ice turned to water and vise versa, it blew his mind the first time.

The lady gave a gentle chuckle, “Of course dear, I’ll be careful about that.”

Sure, it was silly to think that she’d serve him a glass of frozen water, but experience says being patient is the best route. She returns to Cloud with a jug of water, a drinking glass full of water, and a menu. Brittle ice cubes danced in the jug due to her movement.

“There you go, one iced water, with the right amount of ice. Refills are free, so please help yourself.”

She then places the menu next to the jug, “And here’s the menu where you can find something to your liking. If you got any questions, just call for me.”

Plenty of food related imagery was in this laminated pamphlet, with descriptions, prices and titles to boot! Seems to be a general Japanese take on Western cuisines with a floral theme. Curries, pastries, omelets, stews, and fried foods.

   As Zora made themselves comfortable, they glanced around studying the surroundings. They took in the delightful atmosphere and the feeling of perpetual warmth that seemed to surround them.

Once they got a menu, they happily checked out the different options of the menu. “These look absolutely lovely.“ They couldn’t help but peruse the options, studying the details and multiple options.

“Nice to meet you Tilly. I’m Zora - say - do you know if they have some nice pastries? I feel like they would have some wonderful options here and I think that would hit the spot with a drink.“

The bear smiled with a clasp of their paws, “Ooh, absolutely! You’re in luck as the pipsqueak is really good at pastries! And he’s already here! Working on the morning doughnuts I think.”

She looks to the kitchen and eagerly shouts, “Hey pipsy! You got any doughnuts ready?”

There was a moment of silence. And then a plate of doughnuts were set on the indoor service window behind the counter. Seems like the one who placed the doughnuts was a bit too short to be seen from afar, but that was certainly a human hand that was involved.

“Thanks!” Tilly announced, as she fetched the doughnuts. She presented them to Zora. One resembled a teddy bear wearing a crown of flowers and the other was shaped like a cherry blossom.

“Will these do? I can fetch something more flakey or cakey if that’s to your liking!”

The appearance of a new face was just another level of curiosity at this new place, he wasn’t sure who they were and before he could say anything he was told to ‘take a seat’…

So he did.

The sound of one of the chairs being dragged over to him echoed in the cafe, the android looking over to the woman.

“I have taken a [seat].” He announces before he is distracted by the cherry blossoms, he hasn’t seen a tree with pink leaves before – he’d only seen flowers in the ground, he had no clue they could also grow on trees.

The lady smiled warmly, though tried her best to hold back a laugh. This was oddly reminiscent of the newest recruit. Seems like these two had some struggles with the art of speech.

“You may sit in the seat, dear.” the lady gently clarified with a table that was very close to the tree Cloud was staring at. She was holding a menu in her arm. Though with how the man was taking a moment to understand everything, she was thinking of simply asking what the man liked.

No, pictures helped. She must remember that these two are probably more different than she thought.

“Would you like something to eat, or drink? I can get some iced water ready while you get settled.”

Don Karnage heard the bell tingling as the doorway revealed a large, warmly lit room full of tables and chairs, with a few peach blossom trees. He noticed a bear walking around the tables, cleaning them off. His eyes showed surprise and caution as he seemed quiet. 

Hearing the bear welcoming him, Don Karnage nodded as he slowly made his way to a clean table, sitting down at the table. This was quite new to him as he bit his lower lip. Did he have to pay? He didn’t really have money to pay for the meals. 

The bear chuckled, “A bit of the silent type huh? Kinda like the pipsqueak in the back. No worries.”

She places a menu in front of the wolf, “Take your time and find something you like. I’ll be here if you got any questions!”

There were plenty of sweets on the menu, but curry plates, fried dishes, omelets, and various drinks were available. They all were consistent with having some sort of floral shape or cutesy form used in their presentation.

Of course, descriptions and titles were under each item’s picture describing the general taste and main ingredients.

“Oh I see. I’d love to check out the place and have a nice little treat here.” Zora couldn’t help but be endeared to the bear who was working as a waiter and barista. Sure it was early in the day as far as they were concerned, but the chance to have a drink wasn’t something Zora was going to turn down.

They casually step through the door so that they were now within the cafe. “Oh wonderful. I didn’t have anything in mind - so a menu would be perfect.“ Smiling at the bear, Zora goes to take a seat somewhat close to the window.

“You got it!” The bear chirped. She swings by the front counter to take a menu from the plush bear holding a stack of them. Then she places the menu in front of the new patron.

The menu had a floral theme, befitting the cafe. There was various dishes that matched the theme, and a variety of drinks from coffee based, to alcohol based, to soda based, all labeled accordingly. By the looks of things, the offerings were very much artistically made.

“Take your time and find something you like! We do have gluten free and vegetarian menus too,” the bear replies, “Oh right, my name is Tilly and I’m your waitress today!”

Strange doors had a way of attracting Zora’s attention. It wasn’t as if it was unusual for them to explore them every soften -if only to see exactly where they lead to. But this one was interesting in that it seemed to open to a cafe.

Zora peaked in to see the blooming trees, plush bears and one what actually seems to be a real bear. Tilting their head in interests, Zora gently gives a bit of a wave towards the bear.

“Lovely establishment it seems like you have here.“ They were honestly quite interested in stepping inside and getting a better look around at the place - but didn’t want to intrude. So they decided to pause a bit before actually walking through the door.

The bear put on a rather cheerful expression when receiving the compliment,

“Oh thank you! But I’m not the owner of the place! I just work here as a waiter and barista! Would you like to come in and have a drink?”

Sure, the place wasn’t open for the day yet, but knowing the boss, they can’t turn down a visitor...unless the visitor was unruly and then that would warrant removal. So the bear shows a paw to the tables, “Feel free to sit anywhere you like! I’ll get you a menu but if you have something in mind, I’ll do my best to make it!”

She places a claw to her chin, “...or if it’s food related, I’ll ask the small guy ‘bout it.”

The twenty nine years old wolf had ended up in Duckburg as a deep, shaky sigh escapes from his mouth. Unfortunately, never trust Glomgold. Never trust Louie. Louie is a clever child. He had made his way through the forest in the snow as a mahogany door caught his eyes.

Don became curious and yet cautious as he slowly approached the mahogany door to see the gold plated sign being attached to the door, portraying a bear and flowers. He tilted his head as he could feel this strange feeling within the door. It was not hostile. It felt welcoming. The door felt welcoming.

There was a likely chance that the door will lead him to somewhere but he was willing to take the risk. He reached his furry paw out to open the door, slowly making his way through the door.

When the door was opened, a bell tingled, and the doorway revealed a large, warmly lit room full of tables and chairs, with a few peach blossom trees growing inside. Smells of food and coffee permeated the air, giving a slight hint at the location’s identity.

A (realistic) bear was walking around the tables, cleaning them off before the day’s crowds came in. She was wearing a dress with touches of pink and frills, presumably a uniform of sorts. Of course...she noticed the wolf in the doorway.

“Oh! Hello! Welcome! We, uh we haven’t opened yet but you’re free to come in and have a drink or bite!”

Her voice was still grizzly befitting her appearance, but it had a light bounce to it, showing her energetic nature.

There was an odd door in the quiet alleyway. It was not normally there on the other days of the week. But, upon opening the mahogany door, one can see an establishment full of tables, chairs, and...peach blossom trees?

These trees were in bloom despite the current season...and they certainly didn’t look artificial. Plush bears could be spotted on some of the tables and chairs. One was rather giant compared to those toys...and was walking between the tables.

...The giant bear looks at the doorway, exchanging a stare at whoever was peeking in. Her muzzle and claws confirms she was not a mere plush toy.

Taishou was out, but the bell had tingled. So a large bear in a uniform dress walks out of the kitchen with tea kettle in paw.

“Hello hello!! Welcome to the Hanami Yama Cafe!! Did you want something to drink? Or eat? I think the small guy’s in the back so we’ll still be able to serve anything on the menu to you!”

Was the bear the strangest thing in this cafe? Maybe, but the large blooming peach blossom tree in the middle of the establishment could be stranger. ...and there was other blossoming trees in the room too, but they were smaller and were set at the corners of the building.

Despite the task of searching for a fellow android gone rogue, Project:CLOUD was distracted by the appearance of a mahogany door amidst the rocks and crystallised mako – He wondered if it was normal to find doors like this in caves, he certainly didn’t know, the world was mysterious like that. Curious AI approached and read the sign, he wasn’t sure what a cafe was as he only knew of Tifa’s bar.

The android carefully pulled the handle and peered inside, greeted by new sights and smells Cloud’s curiosity pulled him in as the wooden door softly clicked behind him.

Warm lights fill the android’s sight as he enters the door. Tables and chairs dotted the room, as a few trees with pink blossoms stand over them. A bar with a cash register might be recognizable, but it had displays of pastries and desserts.

A woman with fluffy dark hair was adjusting a plush bear at the register, only to stop upon spotting the android,

“O-Oh!” She looks at him with a warm smile and a bow, “Welcome to the Hanamiyami Cafe! Feel free to take a seat, and I’ll be right with you!”

There is a quiet alleyway in the city. Few have traversed into this place...not even the local gangs. But there has been rumors of a mysterious door that appears there, only once a week. Some say they have seen people venture into that alleyway, and come out a teeny bit cleaner, and with some hope in their heart, and stomach.

Much to the luck of those who want to find that door, it has appeared today. A mahogany door, with the symbol of a teddy bear. It looks rather clean compared to the dusty location, as if someone was polishing the sign.

Ore glittered in scattered light...and water could be heard dripping from the stalactites. This seemed to be a Materia Cave, which was normally far from civilization. Except, there was one odd piece of civilization that had materialized in this cave:

A mahogany door. It had a gold plated sign on display, featuring flowers and a soft looking creature. Japanese characters can be seen on the sign reading: Hanayami Cafe.

Upon opening the door, there is a woman at the front counter. Her hair is tied up in a rather long chain of braids, and her uniform is a touch on the frilly side. She cheerfully greets the newcomer with a small smile,

“Hello! And welcome to Hanayami Cafe! Feel free to take a seat, and we’ll be right with you!”

The woman takes a menu from a plush bear guarding a stack of them, then holds it out to the newcomer, “Here’s a menu, I hope you’ll find something that you like!”
