“ You don’t have to look so hard, you know. You might give yourself a headache. ”
Sure, it’s unusual to see Yufi in anything appearing modest… casual… normal… but classical? Not so much. Back in Nagoya, even around her stomping grounds in Kyoto as well, she commonly adorned kimono and yukata. She’s even attempted geisha training, learned how to perform tea ceremonies, knows her way around a zither, can sing opera on cue. Just all a requirement when you’re expected to be an example of the finest things of their nature: of beauty, of intelligence, of natural balance, of delicate nature and the refined.
If anyone looks out of place, it’s Kaito. Given that he does wear silks and florals on a daily basis, it’s not so much the softness of his look which surprises her, but anything comparing Kaito to tradition is… a little shocking, at least to her. Kaito isn’t who she’d consider an ordinary citizen or an example constituent, but he makes a fascinating tour guide and an entertaining conversation partner. That’s why, when she hears word of a festival, he instantly came to mind as a person to go with.
It’s a date. He’d said it so casually that Yufi’d thought perhaps she shouldn’t read into it. Besides, people went on dates all the time, and they didn’t necessarily lead to anything. Just look at Yagami! Besides, there’s been plenty of times she and Kaito have hung out together. Why would this be any different?
She shakes the thought out of her head, pushes down any feelings outside of simple fondness into some corner of her mind she can’t delve into.
Yet the look he gives her makes something rumble in her. She decides to stir the pot further, walking up to him and dragging a nail over his chest, feeling the fabric of his clothing.
“ You look pretty charming yourself. This is a good look on you. ”
a starter for @hananoken !
it should’ve made him look charming given that he ran all over town trying to find a place that could fit him last minute for something simple and cheap. good to know his efforts weren’t for naught. ❝ haven’t worn something like this since elementary school. good to know there are still people nowadays that can dress someone like me. ❞
broad shoulders, shapely chest, upper arms that make the fit of any shirt tighter, still, his outfit fit snugly, tied comfortably around his waist, and hung just above his toes to avoid getting caught underfoot or scraping along the ground. he even managed to find someone with a print that fit his aesthetic perfectly. it took a true miracle worker to cater to him in every way, shape, and form.
❝ —i’d give it a go more often but i’m not sure i could do with the constant... breeze. ❞ color tints the apples of his cheeks and he slips into a hearty laugh that rumbles the air like the growl of thunder. if anyone were to understand and appreciate his off-brand sense of humor, it would be her. ❝ but enough about me ! i couldn’t have imagined that you’d look so natural all dressed up. you should’ve warned me or something. ❞
