An 18-year-old student, Nader Hanna, is recovering after losing his right hand in a devastating firework accident outside an In-N-Out Burger in Pleasanton, California. The incident occurred on June 3 when a firework, which Hanna described as being the size of a tennis ball and wrapped in foil, malfunctioned and exploded in his hand "like a grenade" immediately after he lit it.

Hanna’s twin brother, Ramsey, rushed to assist him while bystanders and emergency responders worked to control his severe injuries. Since the accident, Hanna has been adjusting to life with a nub and plans to attend his first semester of college. Local police are using his story as a critical warning ahead of the Fourth of July, emphasizing that fireworks are illegal in the area and pose extreme risks of life-altering injuries.
