Im on tumblr again and beginning to open myself up to creative possibilities. I notice i've had a ton of unfollows; cool, I hope life treats you well and that everything goes well for everyone <3 Most of the posts on the from the empress will just be a continuation of fish fridays/stuff from Baroness Vashj and cataclysm stuff. I am still creating fall of the highborne. I'm sorry I went offline for so many years and disappeared. I needed to regroup and get myself together, along with looking after my mum and family. Final farewells to tumblr. <3

Going to be closing down this blog and moving onto onto Word Press, where I will post all of my fish fridays stuff/ a few important inspirational posts from the archive here.

I will also be posting the “Fall of the Highborne”, a comic series starring Lady Vashj that is now in development. I’m still debating whether my finals should be done in mixed media on traditional comic panels, or whether I should do it in Manga Studio, as my other comics will be. I am debating leaving this blog up or deleting it entirely, but regardless of what decision I make, I will not be returning this time.

As archiving this blog is going to be a bit of a process, I will provide links to the Word Press blog once everything is done. I will be deleting every other blog on tumblr--including my artblog-- except for that of Raine Lightbender, and to be honest it’s iffy as to how long that blog stays up.

I will still rp in WoW but in a very limited capacity--comics and drawing/sculpting will be taking up most of my free time from here on in.

Love and infinite hugs to those who have supported me. Words cannot express my love and gratitude, also, for the wonderful members of the WoW tumblr community, who draw, write, and constantly give so much to us all. I hope you all know who you are; I will be forever grateful for your inspiration.

To all my followers who have supported me, reblogged my stuff, liked my art, and done everything with the best intentions, thank you so, so very much. I hope I will see you on my WordPress blog; when the archiving is finished, I will provide a link to that and to other sites that I am on as well.

Instruction Gifs – Lips!

I am quite often asked how I draw my lips. It’s really much more simple than it seems! You start with an idea of how you want them to look – in this set, I wanted a normal smile, a pout, and then a cheeky grin.

Once you know what you want, visualize the shape, then grab an airbrush. I use about 30% opacity with a large stroke. Blobbing on your color is the best way to lay out the look, and then adjust it! One important thing to note is that I did everything color-wise on the same layer; this allows your brushes to blend with the skin tone, and you don’t waste as much time trying to correct artifacts that just don’t mesh when you use separate layers.

The shade layer is where I draw the opening of the mouth. Notice that I do that second! Most of the time, you’d do lines –> color, right? Well, when you work with primarily lines and you can see several steps ahead of what you’re drawing, sure, that works. But I can’t. So I work with positive and negative space, and add my lines later! (on some things. Not everything will work so well that way.) The lip color is positive space, and the bare skin color is negative space, ie, “something’s there” vs “something’s NOT there”. This also gives me the opportunity to paint with the skin color itself as a means of “erasing” the positive space of the lips rather than the actual eraser. Again, it helps with blending and keeping the picture looking natural, imho.

Highlights are used pretty sparingly, but because of their scarcity, they can really be manipulated to define the shape you’re looking at. A single dot on the middle of the lower lip creates the effect that it sticks out relative to the rest of the lip. It looks curved and full.

Character Idea

After Prince Tortheldrin’s culling of most of Eldre’thalas’ population, he places an embargo on children to prevent the pylon system from overloading again. A Highborne lady ends up pregnant, has the child, but sequesters it outside of the city and leaves it there (probably to die). A random Kaldorei wanders close enough to Eldre’thalas to hear the baby crying and takes it home, raising it as their own child.

Behold: a Highborne “orphan” who maybe has a penchant for the arcane, but never learns it and is raised like any ‘ol Kaldorei. Extra drama points for the fact that the Shen’dralar have just rejoined Kaldorei society, meaning this child could reunite with their actual birth parents.
