— Kim Visda, from “For Lack Of A Better Poem.”
It speaks beyond words..
I condemn you. Yet my heart yearns towards you. I would go with you through the fires of death. Yet am happiest alone.
Virginia Woolf, from ‘The Waves’
Sometimes I think I am a strange, strange creature—something not of earth, nor yet of heaven, nor of hell. I think at times I am a little thing fallen on the earth by mistake: a thing thrown among foreign, unfitting elements, where there is nothing in touch with it, where life is a continual struggle, where every little door is closed—every Why unanswered, and itself knows not where to lay its head.
Mary MacLane, from 'I Await the Devil's Coming'
In a distance he looks human & is forever on his way
Coming nearer he looks more like a beast
In a way I’m almost certain that he is a beast -
he looks oddly familiar & is forever on his way
Coming nearer he looks like me
— Wong May, Waiting for God (after Simone Weil). Complete poem here.
Werewolves in fiction are generally significantly worse at tracking the full moon and taking precautions than actual real people are at tracking their periods and taking precautions over the same timescale, despite the wolf thing having somewhat more serious consequences.

“This is what I know: In this life, a steady love, and a place to call home, are far more precious than all the earthly possessions and wealth in the world.”
