I chose poweredd because, well ! it’s the episode where we just see the true extent of eduardo’s stubbornness ! nothing will quite be ever as hillarious yet touching as a character wanting revenge for a lack of respect that happened years ago- it’s endearing really.
I chose to illustrate that by, well, showing the way he’d stand right in the rain getting absolutely soaked to the bone and facing nature itself if he could make a point thanks to it ! but of course that also hides something else : trying to make up for that crappy bullying his tiny self went through- with a stronger persona, made strong with his efforts and a lot of things gone wrong gone right
I’m someone who always has wished I could’ve gone and defended my tiny self, so in a way I can’t help but empathize with what eduardo does in that episode, and I probably see too much depth in the kiddie pool but that’s another story-

so i attempted redesigning the red leader stuff based on asuka’s plugsuit for shit n giggles
explanation : the boots are "separate" of the main armor, tho connections inside the boot do exist (the knee pads and top bands are here to protect that) and the torn hoodie is merely to hide the circuits on the back while still letting them easy to access in case of repairs.
the hemlet itself too is separate, cause it can get annoying. the horns are here mainly to avoid having people try to bonk him on the head.
all the damadge is redirected to the mask if someone hits the horns rather than to the skull
that and i mean, shit is skin tight so, he really better have something on top. also he probably has hoodies with more military insignas n such that indicate his rank. the cape can probably be taken off as well
and Of Course, this all doubles as an outfit to synch with a really big Giant Robot ;o)

well it’s pretty much the same, just change the references from greek warriors to more modern “secret leader from gangs” stuff and you have about the same analyse, ableit wayyy more practical moving around wise so you can cross out the whole deal about making humor about his stuff being unpractical. you’re stuck making fun of his looks for that one and since eddsworld is supposed to be comical, idk.
the robot arm is sliiiightly better but i still, “ehhh” and his normal arm with add ons look like he can’t even move it tbh

so let’s start with starters. shape. when you first look at the design you notice immediatly : it’s triangles and rectangles (aside from the lonely ass knee pads. and belt which are just “shield” coded) what the fuck this mean ?? well, triangles = DANGURUS, S H A R P n shit. you get it, the codes for danger and stabby shit. it’s also the code for hierarchies n such cause pyramids. this guy is high in the hierarchies, this guy is made to step on people and shred them. curvy + pointy = teary. simple designs maths. its ideal for cartoon characters who are pretty outside = inside coded. after, ngl, they went /super basic/, whats “expected” when you go with that. rectangle legs and feet, triangle torso, square jaw, yadda yadda… they laid down the stereotypes and called it a day.
now let’s see the colours, which are treated pretty much the same. you have classic black for darkness, evil and death, classic red for blood, war and yadda yadda, eletric blue for electricity and basic robot aesthetics, gold for power and wealth and royalty, and of course because tord is a basic tankie bitch who wears the communist colours. theyre p average but at least they aren’t at full saturation so-
anyway. next layer of rant. the “themes” for the clothes. ok its just, obvious magneto copycat with a mix of the clothes from typical centurion outfit but robot and your average modern army clothes. we get it, honour, strenght, war, evil, yadda yadda. extra average. looks like the phantoms from the zelda franchise too. symetric but not too much cause arms. and tbfh they bother me- the robotic one just…. doesn’t make sence ? you have precise groups of muscles that are set in a precise way to move one way or another. and this arm simply just doesn’t respect them at all and they dont seem to be any sort of functional whatsoever in their setup. I’m not sure how he could lift his arms with his shoulders pillons setup this way. I also fail to understand how the robot exoskeleton on the other arm works, and I honestly find it God Damn Ugly like bitch ! that aint following no movement whatsoever. it’s fucking shapeless, yikes ! yea point being, nice try but it’s super average and the arms would need a Lot of work. also capes are terrible in modern fights because they get stuck everywhere and if there’s wind they can make it harder to be stable which is shit if you need to aim at stuff but w/e.
however, what’s interesting is a winks about the previous stuff, namely the black hoodie. it’s funny cause tord’s developpement went a bit like this, when you look : nerd who faps at hentai and loves guns -> asshole who doubles as miracle scientist with dreams a little too big to be good -> kylo ren- okay okay that was a joke. but point stands still, total dictator who is a little too edgy for his own good, literally wants to rule the world as an absolute god. it’s very stereotypical but if they had made part 2 of tord’s developpement a lil more funny, I bet it’d have gone well. they switched tones and its where it just didnt work. eh well.
so yeah summed up, its a very average design. hard to distinguish from your average mary sue. but, guess what ? mary sues can be pulled off with the right universe. they can go and make him a villain that smashes everything with little thoughs and… itd be perfectly in line with what he did previously. I mean, cmon. we’re talking about “I moved in the house of my ex friends and bugged them for ages and bullied them and blew up their house when i couldve just pretended to come for a visit of a day or just broken in to get the robot and be done with it, aka im an edgelord doing unecessary shit just for the sake of wrecking stuff”. of course that guy would want overdone outfits that barely look functionnal ! of course hed be like these stereotypical brute leaders ! hes a walking parody of them- after yeah, couldve done it better. couldve either pushed the evil even deeper into the stereotypes to make it ridiculous just like that outfit. i could see it with the new costume. that or, tord trying to be evil, but his outfit just… keeps getting in the way. stepping on the cape/getting it stuck in doors, barely being able to move his arms, constantly suffocating under the headgear, etc… could work. but I can’t see tomska make it work, sorry. i say a lot of things here but ngl, I’m 90% sure they didn’t think of even half of what I said when they did the design. so lol.

contents of cut : just discussing my views on that fiction/reality deal, and how the anti movement has gotten its roots pretty deep in eddsworld, often in an extremely disrespectuous way
sooooo uh lately ive been reading a bunch of stuff cause of the comeback of the discourse of “does fiction affect reality ?/can fiction be equated with reality ?” + everything that’d follow depending of whenever you answer yes or no or somethin nuanced (im that team) to this, and so that landed me on reading infos from (non extreme, similar nuance seeking) anti-antis. if you follow my main you probably know that, cause reblogging a lot for archives reasons. i love analysis of that kind ok- (context : the person i agree with the most points so far is @freedom-of-fanfic who does wonderful analyse about that stuff so you might see me steal a loooooot of arguments from them)
vvvvvvv this part is my view on the discourse in general
sooo uhhhhhhhh to clarify my stence on that “does fiction affect reality ?” question. I don’t take viewers for idiots is the short answer. basically, i dont think they will belive the aliens from dragon ball z exist just cause they read in a fiction that they do. if they wind up beliving so, the author shouldn’t be fucking held responsible for that unless the author is doing propaganda... if someone uses the work of that author for malicious reasons, blame that person and not the author cause when there’s a crime you don’t fucking blame the gun maker but the person who fucking fired the gun. and even then the comparison quiiite doesn’t work cause fiction is just made for entertainement and isn’t even a weapon made to destroy in the first place (note : since I belive fiction is entertainement, I also belive in people’s right to pick their entertainement. and so, dark content should be tagged and nsfw content flagged appropriedly so people can shelter themself from that stuff if they need so for literally any reason, including stuff ranging from pure “nah dont like that” to “I had problems with the irl edition of that stuff”. after, while i can report unflagged content and tell people to tag, and i personally chose to separate my sfw content and my nsfw content into two blogs so people can block the nsfw one, i cant help kids who lie about their age to get the nsfw filter off and then wish to policize nsfw spaces cause these inherently ain’t made for kids, and i, overall, cant help anyone who does not use the tools at their disposal (ex : the new tag blocking tool, the block function) to make their browsing experience nice, nor can i be held responsible for them seeing content they want away for i do what i can so they can avoid that content ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and idk, demanding that i change /my/ browsing experience for /you/ when you could just block me/the tags i use (because i DO tag and tumblr’s block function blocks content according to the tags of the reblogger but also of the ORIGINAL POST) is kinda rude, and demanding for people to stop posting something so it is out of your sight/using the excuse of out of the sight of x group (like every person of a group will have the same needs and wants, wow) will often result in them still doing so but avoiding tagging so to avoid potential negative attention from people scouting tags out of hatred, “ironically” making that content harder to avoid for people using tools when it does appear anyway.)
anyway, back to aliens. I belive people, including minors, have an emotionnal reaction to fiction, but that they still have, yknow, the ability to think about what they saw (and critique it ! and read other critiques too), and also the ability to seek information about various topics from neutral, factual sources (ex : the law, wikipedia, statistics oriented websites, etc.) so to compare that with their experience with said element in a fictionnal setup with information about that element in a real setup, and even engage with the authors themself on a talk about that stuff to perhaps, clarify about that stuff irl. and while they (a reader/an author) might be entertained by a fucked up situation in fiction does not mean that they’d necessarily be entertained by such situations in real life, and for fuck’s sake, if someone does, hold THEM responsible for feeling this way not the fucking author, it’s THAT person that has a problem and if THAT person does ACTS based on that then it’s THIS PERSON that did the ACTS that is responsible of them because THEY DID IT and not the AUTHOR, I shouldn’t have to explain this !! what baffles me in anti logic is how they put on the same level artists and people who do bad acts like HELLO you’re comparing the very real trauma of people to just a flock of pixels !!! that actually makes calls of “that’s a bad person” seem less bad cause people too balls deep in that fucking discourse now associate more “bad” with people who make flocks of pixels than with people who do acts !!! you’re also perpetuating victim blaming by saying that people are brainwashed by fiction into accepting abusive stuff ! by saying that it’s somehow the fault of the author for creating that content, you’re leaving a fucking unsaid “the fault of the victim for falling for it” cause im sorry but that’s what it does imply cause you saying it wouldn’t have happened if the victim didn’t see the content, but they did and “fell for it” and youre basically completly whisking away the fault of the people that use the fiction in a bad way !! youre saying the authors are the ones gaslighting victims when no, the people doing the gaslighting are the abusers and you can’t fucking change that !! yall are shifting everyone’s fucking focus away from abusers !! stop !!
but yeah anyway people can feel, but also more importantly, think about what they see and an author shouldnt be blamed for what people think about reality after they see something that is strictly fictionnal and meant to be entertainement and that’s it (belive it or not but not every fandom content is made with politics in mind), cause its simply out of their control if someone mixes fiction and reality (and people that are especially prone to such mixing for whatever reason, regardless, shouldn’t be goddamn left on the internet all by themself (looking @ you kids, talk to your guardians and/or people you trust bout the stuff you see, get the info n facts) and you can’t blame the author if they are, and if it’s specific content that puts a problem (it can be harsh to differenciate fiction and reality when you have PTSD and you’re exposed to stuff linked to your trauma for example), again, TAG YOUR FUCKING POSTS @people who make content and ASK TO TAG AND USE THE TAG BLOCKING/THE PERSON BLOCKING @people who need to be away from that stuff).
BUT. another thing you might wish to know is that i strongly belive that authors decide what is a fact in the fictionnal setup they’re writing about, or in other words, if I was asked, “can fiction be equated with reality ?”, I’d simply answer this : if an author wants to write about a setup where gravity doesn’t exist then it’s a fact that in the universe they’re writing about gravity isn’t a thing, that’s it. it is only equated to reality to the degree the author wishes to equate it. you can be critical of how x or y choice can find its basis in irl bigotery- in fact imo that’s good. by being critical and so exposing people to such critique by posting it, you provide nuance that comes with the content and so that helps people learn. I’ll be honest. I learnt about abuse, how to recognise it and shit partly from conventionnal posts where people would talk about how to recognise abuse and their personnal experience, but also from critique of fanfictions/art, representation and such and from authors talking about their own experience with such stuff and how they wish to embed it in their stories or why they write their stories due to such abuse (and, well. partly from my own experience being at the receiving end of this garbage too, sadly.) so when people talk bout how fiction creates normalization of bad stuff, imo they pull that shit out of context and out of all the information that usually surrounds that stuff and the morals of the author and the thinking capacities of the reader itself. they just, well, treat fiction like facts, and/or like something that should reflect facts. but it’s something that is strictly up to the author and you can’t dictate whenever an author chooses to do that or not and which irl facts they modify in their fiction, and if they receive critique they can choose not to modify their universe regardless, cause it’s... theirs. so what if what the author picks to not be a fact in their universe is “morally wrong” from the pov of our universe ? as long as it’s meant to be entertainement and isn’t written to be fucking propaganda, who cares ? it’s not real, as simple as that, and there are ways to avoid that stuff now (granted that people tag) and people are perfectly free to critique it, and said critique can be accounted and answered for or not. (note : this also works for facts in a canonical universe VS facts in a fanfiction, they can choose to change canon’s facts but once again they can be criticized if such changes come from a dubious place and authors can act depending of the critique or not)
note : i use propaganda as in, “something used to promote a political or moral idea in a brainwash-y, ABSOLUTE RIGHT EVEN IRL way, designed to pull the reader in changing their thinking about reality”. fictions written to do this are pretty damn recognisable, even if I can’t explain right off the bat how but- there just is a big difference between “the author is making you think about things in the context of this world” and “the author is making you superimpose fictionnal facts on the real world” that can be felt even while reading. need more thinking to structure an argument on the difference tho but one I can call right away is “calls to the reader” and how such fictions lay out entire thinking processes and.... tend to support pretty extremist povs, let’s be honest. like, you feel like they’re here to just give you lines upon lines of freshly cooked, already here thinking that is very often pretty black and white too. yeah basically look out for stuff written in a ur-fascism thinking way. that and, fiction that makes you think about the setup of that fiction make that thinking entertaining, fiction for the sake of propaganda... feeds your hate and moves you in a different way. buuut again i need to think more bout this
note bis : i mean critique as in legitimate, “i feel like the way you wrote x isn’t realistic/you wrote y which is offensive” and possible “is that a choice ?” if engaging in a talk with the author (and eventual snooping in the info they chose to make avaliable) to figure out their mindset, not an immediate “THE AUTHOR IS BIGOTED BECAUSE THEY WROTE X/Y” (unless it’s eyes killing but even then. I’d be careful about whenever it’s intentionally written in a bigoted way to show and denounce oppression or to... well, support oppressive views. hence why, snoopin in info they chose to disclose and also looking out for... disclaimers.) critique does not equate callout. critique means pointing out stuff in a fiction noticeable for x and y reason and well, if you want to have some of these points be moral or political then alright, it’s how you criticize it. and not everything about fiction is about realism, i mean. there’s stuff like. a plot. characters. a story. and setups. and. stuff yknow. and making it all interesting.
note third : something someone could critique me for is how i act like it’s eyes killing when something is a fact in a fiction but isn’t irl. well uh, i in fact dont, since I gave a whole spiel about reading exterior info, critique, and talking to your guardians/people you trust and to the author and overall, well, reading around to see if other people could’ve seen nuance you didn’t. like yeah its not always eyes killing but its why nerds exist and never shut the fuck up. and even then...
note fourth : not all artists are great morals and politics wise. talking with them won’t always work out. i listed it as a source of info but it’s not always the case. which is why critics are here. but here once again, not all critics are great morals and politics wise. yeah we end up stuck but it’s also where seeking facts rather than opinions (ex : data. in france we got the INSEE. newspapers are a that arent too biased are a thing too) and using your own lil brain comes in play, and where ultimately beliving what you want and acting according to it happens. and that, no one can be blamed for that but you. and tbfh i dont know why antis think that people make their morals based on what they read in fucking fanfictions :v
note fifth : yeah, the stuff im saying could in a way be used to shrug off the way some actual bad people write the bad stuff they like irl into fiction cause its “their right to write their own universe as they wish with its own facts” and so attempt to pass it off as regular dark fic writing. but after idk, i dont feel like banning the content of such fictions is the way to beat these guys since it’s not what will change their shit views and i etablished that im not the kind to blame content. BUT, it should save the energy of people that agree that these people should go fuck themself since theyd stop fighting between themself over fuckin fiction and concentrate on people who do acts/excuse acts, and the critique is still here and broadcasted to potential recruits to drag them away from this disaster, and that’d stop people from fucking hitting abuse victims for talking about goddamn abuse in their own fanfictions. and i mean im sorry but political and moral talking should take roots in actual talking, fiction can only do so much, both good and bad.

the eddsworld guys aren’t quiiiite self inserts. they’re kind of like these ocs that start off as that but change a bunch as you flesh them out. it shows in how irl Tom spoke about the edgy story (his words not mines) he came up with for ew Tom’s eyes back when he made the character for example
patryk also stated that they wished for the fans to keep him and paul separate from their characters, yet ironically that is used against fans who wish to use their characters like... well, fictionnal characters, by shipping them and such. no, what patryk said isn’t against the shipping of them. it’s against the way it was tagged under their name, ooooor in other words, against exactly what I wrote, which is superimposing on reality fictionnal facts.

idk overall the eddsworld fandom seems also very good at that whole “youre sexualising me if youre sexualising that character that shares x/y/z characteristic with me” thing which is kinda dumb due to how varied the headcanons in that fandom are and due to how much the fandom wants to cut shit away from irl or tie it back to the artist drawing that instead of... well, other people
honestly i headcanon all of the eddsworld guys as over 30 and various degrees of “built like gods according to the conveniently impossible traditionnal standards of beauty“ so im juts tired like, let me draw my purposefully absolutely unrealistic porn that is faaar, faaar away from irl with the leggs that are like twice as tall as them bodies thank u and dont slap me with any sort of need for performative representation either i just said i want to keep my fiction /unrealistic/ and so separate from reality so i can just burry myself in it for a while and forget about the shit outside like i love it when other artists do that and i love art with political stuff inside but pls i just want to stick to my unrealistic beauty standards when i draw and i dont want to make my own art a political statement thank u for leaving me my right to just have a breather
