01. kitty savior
Continuously, Madoka would look back and forth between the cat and her fellow students. She couldnât let it out of her sight, but yet she needed to make sure at least someone was going to try and help. The only solution she had on her own was waiting for the cat to fall and catching it, but she did not find that one favorable at all. She looked up at the cat and sighed, trying to be reassuring.
âYouâll be okay, I promise.â
However, when she turned around she was met with the eyes of a human, fancy that! Her heart beat faster in excitement because the chances of everything being okay had definitely sky rocketed. Although there wasnât much time for it, she glanced over her newfound savior. It was a student with hair just like hers, except this girl seemed way cooler! And older. The other girl was tall and elegant and beautiful, like the kind of person Madoka wished she could be. Overall, she gave off a cool air to her and it made it seem like everything would be alright because she could save the day. She was very much so different from Madoka, to say the least.
The younger rosette shook her head, trying to let her upperclassman know the problem wasnât about her. There were way more important things than her, especially this cat!
âIâm fine! Itâs just⊠that cat! Itâs stuck! Iâm really worried for it!â
It seemed she got the message because quickly she was up on the tree. Wow, how did she move like that? She must be on a sports team, Madoka thought, but even so her movements were just⊠beautiful on their own. A slight gasp escaped her and she blushed, but watching this girl in action was breathtaking, after all. Her first thoughts were right. She was cool, and more than that! She was amazing! In fact, there wasnât quite a word for her that would describe her. Everything she did, she made it look so easy, and she did it while still keeping up that way cool composure! Gosh, was Madoka jealous of her.
It wasnât long before her upperclassman was done with this mini mission and Madoka gave her a smile once she reached ground again. She was a savior. The way she saved that cat and how quickly she did it⊠there was no denying it. And she even seemed to be good with animals! What couldnât she do was the real question!
âThank you so much! That was incredible!â
Buuut the girl was wrong on one thing. Shaking her head again, she quickly corrected the other. Maybe she shouldnât have made such a big deal over a cat that wasnât hers. It made sense to think it would be hers, but actually she would worry about anyone in danger. That was how things were supposed to be, right? She thought the other girl would agree with her, but she couldnât be sure.
âNo, I saw it needed help, and well, I got really worried! Iâm sorry to trouble you, though. I wish it was mine, but I donât know the schoolâs policy on pets, to be honest.â
Madoka tilted her head, smiling just the tiniest bit guiltily. After all, she had almost called 911 on a problem this small! What was that saying? Making mountains out of molehills? Yeah, she had done that. Whoops! But, at least, the cat was safe. That was more than okay for her and she could live with the embarrassment of freaking out over it. Oh, and, she might make a new friend out of this strange event! Of course, she should introduce herself first. Cool girls like her probably valued manners and respect a lot!
âI forgot to introduce myself! Iâm Madoka Kaname! Itâs really nice to meet you, Miss..?â
She stopped midway, hoping the other would tell her her name. It was kinda awkward to have to address someone as that cool girl all the time, you know.
Still a bit disheveled from the leap down, she returned tousled vibrant pink strands to their proper place. It had been a while since she had done anything like that, although she might not have shown it. Certainly it was time to get back into gear.
"It was no problem, really. Always happy to help!" Her lips turned up into a sheepish grin, abashed from the smaller girl's praise. Utena ran on the satisfaction of a job well done and a maiden's smile. That's what being a prince was all about, really. Crowns and nobility, looks and charm, all that was important too. But a strong sense of justice, a want to help others, was most important!
Utena returned her attention to the cat, making sure once again it was settled down. Â "No trouble at all. Completely worth it," she said gently, taken with the soft features of the kitten. It surprised her how easily it complied with her requests. Never was she so good with animals. That was all Anthy. Unless Chu Chu back at home counted, but he acted more like a little person than a mouse.Â
"Madoka, huh? It's nice to meet you too! Call me Utena. I'd shake your hand but," she laughed briefly, nodding in the direction of the tiny creature nestling in her arms. "We'd better figure out what to do with this little guy." Or girl, she wasn't quite sure. Already the kitten had taken to her, dozing off and purring faintly. It really was cute. It'd be a shame if the school made them get rid of it. "Should we take 'em to the office?" If things went their way, quite possibly Madoka would go home with a little friend.Â
