everything is a circle so we’ll be right back
I legitimately need cinema’s to do late night viewings for children.
My son is 8 years old with ADHD (Yes fully diagnosed). The quiet cinema showings are during school hours which for obvious reasons he can’t attend. Then the after school slots especially for films like Toy Story 5 & minions are always super busy. He does not do well in crowds and tends to have a meltdown when things are too loud / there’s too much going on.
The autism friendly sessions they hold ONCE A MONTH are specifically aimed at children who stim / cannot help from talking / running around etc which is great and I personally think they should be hosting them more than once a month for children who have those specific needs. But this does nothing for children who are like my son who need smaller gatherings, a still & quiet environment in which he can feel safe, secure and enjoy the film he wants to watch.
Tonight I called up to ask if it would be possible for him to attend a showing at midnight yes I know way past bed time fucking shoot me idc. I was told he could because it’s a PG film aslong as he has an adult with him (me). For us to arrive at the cinema and be turned away because it’s an adult only viewing.
My son being the polite little boy he is smiled at the man and said that it was fine & he understood but he’s now been crying for the last 2 & half hours because he wanted so badly to watch the film.
Sorry for the rant I’m just irritated that there’s such a lack of accessibility. It’s a PG film for CHILDREN why can’t he see it at a time & business level that is suitable for him?
Fuck my life today seriously.
Been reconnecting with nature.

Unfortunately it’s very easy to lure me places because I like to go somewhere

having friends is cool until they worry too much and get in the way of your self-destructive tendencies
