One thing about working at a zoological institute is, the need to see the animals you care for as not a part of your life. What I mean is when talking about them upper management always reminds us that they are the institutes animals. When we are mine or ours, but to me that is just taking pride in your work. How can you expect someone, who spends 40+ hours a week with these animals not to consider them an important part of our lives. We are with them on holidays, bad weather, and think about them even when we are not there with them.

I have finally come out of depression that has lasted five years. Honestly, I did not realize how much of my life I lost from depression. The silver-lining from this is I am learning to love things again. Like I forgot how much I liked certain movies.

As a personal rule, I only allow myself to bring into the only one dumb question a day. This can mean I can let out either through text or verbalization. Today's dumb question is can birds be autistic?

I always hear people talking about stopping the cycle of intergenerational abuse in families. What I do not hear is people talking about intergenerational misgivings in families. Meaning being taught something that is at its core is inherently wrong or hurtful. For example saying things like give me Eskimo kisses. At its core this is not inherently evil or bad, but stems from something that is. When pointing out that maybe we should use a different phase because of the word's past, we are shot down saying we are making things out of nothing...

Sentient... I thought I knew what this world meant, but I only vaguely did. The biggest fallacy I made about the word was that the word had everything to do with consciousness. It's not that it doesn't, rather it is not as involved as I had previously thought.

I guess what really drew me to enjoy philosophy as a discipline of education, is the way that things are broken down and compartmentalized. Even though more often than not philosophy does not provide clear cut answers, philosophy allows me to understand the world in ways I could not before.

It's weird to hear someone's voice every single day and never know them. Then one day they are gone, yet their voice lives on.

Why do some words stick with you? For me it's the words waxing and waning they will forever hold a special place in my heart.

I recently read a book that asked the main character to explain her favorite word. This led me to think of what is mine. After contemplating and mulling over it, I came up with periwinkle. It embodies what I hope to achieve.

How? I would like to elaborate, but I don't know where to start. Should I start by asking how I got here? Or by asking how am I here?

Sometimes a book touches your heart in a way that you never thought you needed until it happened.
