Next cosplay project finally started! Would love to have this done by January 1st! I’m making a full perler suit of shovel knight’s armor! This is just the start of one shoulder pauldron! I found a 3D object and converted it into a pepakura file and then from there cut it out, assembled the pauldron and then cut it into a shape that’ll be able to line up and form a curved piece! I need to redo the right side since I want to add a light blue to add more shading like the reference sprites have! Day 14: Last House on the Left. Another notorious classic and director Wes Craven’s first movie ever! This one is an odd one for me. As it is genuinely terrifying in the sense of you know of the impending doom to our main girls and even the villains, but the jarring tone shift from violence to happy go lucky music just gets annoying because you’re taken out of the action. Apparently the remake wasn’t too bad. This is definitely a movie that isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea. Day 13: Phantasm Another classic one that Brandon has wanted to see for a while! He knew about the metal spheres of death! But that’s about it! He loved it and I can’t wait to show him the sequels! More catchup posts. I’m super bad at remembering to post these smh. Day 12: Flesh for Frankenstein aka Andy Warhol’s Frankenstein. The inclusion of Warhol’s name is super misleading as he had 99% nothing to do with this movie. The 1% comes from a short set visit and the director Paul Morrissey being one of Warhol’s “superstars”. Once again I was disappointed, especially because I’m a huge Warhol fan and have been wanting to see this since high school times but never got a chance too! The premise is interesting and the set design for the castle is wonderful, but the dialogue is crazy bad! That’s due to Morrissey wanting the actors improving their lines! How can you improv a mad scientists lines without him sounding kind of stupid and over the top at the same time? Lol. There’s also some parts that were supposed to have 3D effects so there’s a few scenes that guts or a spear are shoved in front of the camera and the shot is held on them longer than necessary just to get that “3D look”. The gore effects were probably the best part of this stinker! Day 11: 47 Meters Down. Haven’t watched an underwater survival horror in a while, probably not since The Meg (which was a lot of fun). This one was okay and had a decent twist ending, but there was a lot more they could’ve done and the cgi sharks were a bit boring. Would’ve liked some practical effects for this. Day 10: The Amityville Horror! Based on true events! (Sort of!) So fun fact, Brandon is originally from a few towns over on the island and has always feared going anywhere near this place due to the local lore and legends! We even had the chance to stop there on the way back from a family trip and he refused! :p So anyways, this was his first time seeing the film and he definitely jumped at a few pivotal scenes! More catch up posts! We’ve watched the movies but I keep forgetting to post my mini reviews! Day 9: Wishmaster ! How can you not love a movie that brings Freddy Kruger, Candyman, and Jason Voorhees together!?! (All in normal non monster roles lol) So I’ve only seen bits and pieces of this movie on tv and never got a chance to see it all the way through before, but Brandon has and highly recommended it to me! What an awesome movie! The effects were awesome and it even had some cheesy 90s cgi, but way better than parasite eve’s!! Bonus, both of these movies came out the same year! But this also had a way bigger budget and Wes Craven produced it so there’s that! Day 8: Parasite EVE. Ugh! Talk about disappointing! It took 1 hour and 30 minutes to see some action even remotely akin to the game in this 2 hour long movie. So I’m like wtf this “Sci-fi thriller”, as it’s touted on the back cover, is nothing like the game! I come to find out this came out in 97 so 1 year before the game, but it’s based on the book of the same name. It’s an old release with hard coded subs and it’s so so so boring. The pacing is crazy slow and any interesting plot points are then cut away so the characters can stare and brood at one another. Yikes! Apparently they also changed the ending because *spoilers* the mitochondria dont let themselves die like in the movie! The ending of the book basically leads into the first game! So this movie is pointless! The gore effects aren’t bad, but it uses weird CGI for liquid effects and it’s very contrasting with the normal sfx. We got it for a buck at @bandit_video_games so at least we didn’t pay full price!
