This is the first of the TMOB vs Until Dawn dissections. It was a tie between Sam and Ashley with both being 25%.
Now obviously, TMOB is going to have more details than it’s source material. So it’s going to be much longer in terms of what the characters do and how they act.
Just a few clarifications before we start:
I will be including the TMOB side stories as some of them actually add onto character development. (I will compile the stories after the prank in the prologue sections)
There will be choices that can be made in Until Dawn that by default are canon in TMOB.
I will refer to Until Dawn’s chapters as Chapter (insert number) while I will refer to TMOB’s list of chapter titles by the set titles (Example: Any chapter that’s take place in Chapter 2 falls within Darkness).
TMOB follows the remake so there will be things mentioned that only appear in the remake. That doesn’t mean I won’t mention things from the original game.
I won’t be going down the list of every choice a character can make because that’s frankly not needed and too much work.
Most, if not all of the dialogue options are present within TMOB unlike Until Dawn where you can only pick between one.
A lot of things happen in different chapters for consistency’s sake.
Examples include; The remaining walk with Mike and Jess and Jess’ kidnapping take place entirely in Chapter 4 instead of Chapter 3. The cable car section, cliff section and the tower section with Matt and Emily take place all in Chapter 5.
The character are largely the same. The only differences are added details.
I won’t be including Aftermath as it’s not a finished product and things are subject to change pre-release of chapters.
Without further ado, here you are.

Until Dawn
In “One Year Ago”, we first see Ashley with the group of pranksters involved in the prank on Hannah. She has no lines at all. The most she gets is laughing (original game).
In Chapter 1, we see Ashley at an observation post, looking through a telescope. She sees Mike and Emily through the telescope and is subsequently jumpscared by Matt.
In Chapter 2, she is seen sitting on the front steps of the Washington Lodge. When Chris finally talks to her, the player can make their choices. When Josh is trying to make the fire, Ashley cheers him on. When he tells both she and Chris about the spirit board, she’s intrigued and heads off to go find it.
In Chapter 3, Ashley, Chris and Josh have finally begun their seance. Josh gets spooked and heads off. She and Chris roam around the lodge, potentially finding various clues along the way. Eventually, they’re both subsequently knocked out by the Psycho with Ashley being dragged to the shed.
In Chapter 4, Ashley is seen again being hung up in a saw trap where the player can make their choices. Regardless, Ashley is saved while Josh isn’t.
In Chapter 5, Ashley doesn’t appear.
In Chapter 6, Ashley and Chris are searching the lodge for Sam and are eventually knocked out once again and placed in another trap where the player can make their choices.
In Chapter 7, Ashley and Chris are still restrained to their chairs.
In Chapter 8, Ashley, along with the remaining others (and Emily, if she survived her section), encounter Jack and are told about what they’re up against. Depending on your choice in the trap, Ashley kisses Chris. If Ashley is shot, Chris will not be let inside and subsequently be killed by Hanndigo. If not, he will be let inside. When they return to the safe room, Ashley can express pain over Chris’ death or be detached.
If Emily was bitten, Ashley will freak out and be fearful of what the bite implicates. If Mike shoots Emily, Ashley will be afraid of him. If not, she will still remain hesitant of Emily and the bite. She will read Jack’s journal and learn about the history of the curse. If she says it’s harmless, Emily will become irate and hit Ashley. She, along with Sam as well as Chris and Emily, if they’re alive, follow after Mike to warn him.
In Chapter 9, Ashley, Chris and Emily (if the latter two are alive) follow Sam to the sanatorium’s tunnel to find out Mike locked it behind him. They travel down a manhole and into the mines. Here, Ashley’s first opportunity to die can be achieved. If Ashley doesn’t die, she will rejoin the group. Once at a dead end, she, along with the others will go back to the saferoom while Sam continues on.
In Chapter 10, Ashley reappears, running away from the escaped miners. Depending on your choices, Ashley can die in various ways or survive dawn.

The Mountain of Butterflies
In "A Year Ago", Ashley is first seen with the group of pranksters. Unlike her original counterpart, she actually gets lines this time.
“Momento Mori”
In “Winter Wonderland”, the same plays out, only this time, Matt and Ashley’s conversation is a smidge longer to show that they’re pretty close friends. It then shifts to Matt asking about what she’s looking at. She then tells him to look for himself, to which he sees Mike and Emily and becomes upset.
“Darkness”
In “Freezing”, Ashley is seen sitting on the steps, waiting for the others to arrive and when they do, she’s glad to see them. Later on in “Ride-Along, she’s seen again along with a few of the others cheering Josh on to get the fire going. Josh, like his original counterpart, sends her and Chris to look for the spirit board.
“Isolation”
Ashley actually doesn’t appear physically in any of the chapters set in “Isolation”. However, she does get mentioned.
“Loyalty”
Ashley appears in both “Seance” where she, Chris and Josh are of course, doing their seance as well as later on, roam the lodge, finding clues until they’re lured to the kitchen and knocked out by the Psycho.
In “A Deadly Choice”, she’s hung up and Chris is forced to make a choice. (It’s actually ambiguous as to which way he pulls the lever.)
Regardless, Josh is killed and Chris rescues Ashley. They run into Matt and Emily and explain their situation.
“Dread”
Much like her main counterpart, she doesn’t appear in any of the chapters set in “Dread”, however, she is mentioned.
“Psychosis”
Ashley returns in “Confessions” where she and Chris search for Sam. While in the old hotel, Ashley is apologetic for what happened the previous year with Hannah and calls Mike “a total sleazeball”. After making it to the dummy in Sam’s cothing, the pair are knocked unconscious but before Ashley is, she stabs the Psycho in his shoulder, resulting in a punch to the face.
“Loss”
In “The Revelation”, after Josh is revealed to be the Psycho, Ashley doesn’t really say or do anything. However, she says something when Mike mentions that Jessica is dead.
In “True Colors”, Ashley is told by Chris to stay in the Great Room along with Sam and Hannah while him, Mike and Jordan escort Josh to the shed.
In this same chapter, when Beth and Hailey return, Beth notices Ashley’s black eye and is alarmed by it.
“Revelation”
In “Flares”, when Emily frantically returns to the lodge. Ashley frantically asks her questions along with the others.
In “Curses”, Chris decides to go get Josh, to which Ashley protests saying that Josh could’ve killed not just Chris but also her but regardless, Chris is adamant about it.
In “Creature of the Night”, just before Chris and Beth head out, Ashley shows up and kisses Chris.
When Jack dies and the pair (Chris and Beth) run back to the lodge’s back door, Ashley hurriedly opens the door for them and they head to the saferoom in the old hotel.
In “Infection”, much like her original counterpart, Ashley notices Emily’s shoulder and begins to freak out when learning she was bitten. After things settle down once Mike leaves, Ashley reads Jack’s journal and learns what he wrote in it, including that the bite is a mere injury. This leads to Emily, slapping her.
This is where Ashley’s (and Chris’) role diverges entirely from the original story.
After this, Sam says that they need to warn Mike. Chris says he’d only slow them down and says he’ll stay behind to which Ashley protests saying that if he stays behind, she stays behind. So, Ashley, Chris, Beth and Hailey stay behind while the remaining five head after Mike.
“Karma”
In “Prices”, Leon and Joseph return, attempting to get into the lodge. Just before they’re able to break in, Ashley opens the door and pulls them in. She updates them on their current predicament, leading them to the saferoom.
In “Soldiers”, Ashley appears but she doesn’t do much as she is asleep against Chris.
“Repentance”
In “Mimicry”, Ashley tells the group in the saferoom that the creatures have the ability to mimic voices.
In “Lodge of Ashes”, Ashley is seen along with the others who were in the saferoom running away from the miners that got in. She is the fourth character to escape the lodge.
———————————————————————
Overall, Ashley is fairly the same with a few new shifts from what happens in the original story.
I actually enjoyed adding more details to her relationships with the other characters.
And that’s Ashley vs…Ashley.
I hope you all liked it and want more. :)

Peak character development imo :)
