For   every   night   he   spends   with   Visenya,   he   spends   ten   with   her.   Those   are   the   rumors   that   are   now   spread   through   the   Aegonfort   and   the   realm.   And   the   days   she   is   not   with   him,   the   Queen   prepares   feasts   were   gossip   and   talk   are   her   best   allies   with   drunken   lords'   demands   and   desires   to   gain   their   every   favor.   Tonight   was   a   mishap   in   their   agenda.   He   is   meant   to   be   with   Visenya   but   whatever   it   is   that   caused   that   to   not   come   to   fruition   now   became   in   a   room   that   was   full   of   her   guests   until   they   saw   that   the   King   and   one   of   his   queens   were   going   beyond   kisses.   The   loud   thud   of   a   door   behind   her   causes   her   to   moan   in   to   his   mouth,   to   release   whatever   decor   she   had   with   her   dress   before   he   took   her   ferociously.   Rhaenys   thinks   that   if   hse   hears   enough,   she   can   hear   Meraxes   own   screech   as   she   felt   her   arousal,   or   perhaps   Balerion   was   also   in   a   mood   that   night.

based on what little me and els wrote with rhaenys and her mother @velcryons i always feels that even down to giving birth to her son, even then rhaenys has a huge complex with her mother. like compared to visenya, she is not enough of a wife, a mother, a warrior. rhaenys preferred method of ruling involves being good at kingdom relationships. she shaped marriages for peace between realms and new rules for women in westeros but hers was never a sword but her dragon.

ironic then, how she died in a dragon.

And   her   suggestive   tone   reaches   the   mischief   in   her   eyes   before   kissing   him   again,   a   hand   on   the   back   of   his   neck   to   pull   Orys   closer,   letting   her   frame   press   against   his   own   so   he   felt   the   shape   of   her   body   against   him.   Rhaenys   often   wondered   if   he   had   spy   on   her.   She   was   never   shameful   on   her   body   or   herself   in   general,   and   Orys,   honorable   as   he   might   be,   has   dragon   blood   and   something   else   inside   him.   He   runs   warm,   and   the   sight   of   a   body   might   do   much   to   anyone.

When   the   news   that   Argella   had   not   only   taken   to   bed   to   her   new   husband   reached   him,   he   had   expected   something   else   entirely.   For   Orys   to   be   upset,   or   angry   perhaps.   To   be   called   into   the   room   where   the   two   of   them   were waiting   for   her   was   a   surprise.   It   was   Orys   who   kissed   her   first,   and   afor   a   moment,   she   had   forgotten   Aegon   was   int   he   room   too,   when   her   husband's   hands   wrapped   around   the   edge   off   her   jaw   and   travelled   to   the   hooks   of   her   dress   to   unveil   her   before   him.   But   it   was   another   pair   of   hands   that   pushed   her   softly   into   the   bed.   That's   when   she   turned   to   see   the   king,   and   she   figured   perhaps,   an   arrangement   had   been   made.

And  months  later,  Argella  and  he  had  shared  a  dance  and  some  wine.  Fiesty  and  tense  words  had  been  exchanged,  Aegon  enjoyed  the  fire  in  her  eyes;  the  last  Storm  Queen  had  no  trouble  matching  his  energy  in  the  debate  that  brewed  between  them.  When  Argella  excused  herself,  he'd  followed  intending  to  lay  to  rest  the  tensions  between  himself  and  his  half-brother's  wife.  In  the  darkness  of  the  royal  garden  of  the  Aegonfort,  he  found  her.  Aegon  closed  his  eyes  against  the  way  she  defiantly  straddled  him  after  pushing  him  to  sit  on  one  of  the  benches,  a  hand  angling  his  cock  inside  her.  Try  as  he  might,  his  mind  echoed  with  the  muffled  sounds  of  pleasure  that  they  had  smothered  with  kisses,  and  wonders  on  the  bruises  he  may  have  left  on  her  thighs  in  his  wake.  The  door  creaked  open  and  then  shut  behind  Argella  as  she  arrived.  Aegon  strove to pull  himself  from  the  memories  he  was  trying  to  rid  himself  of. He  swallowed  against  the  way  his  brain  wanted  to  interpret  those  words.  Aegon  had  been  telling  himself  the  exact  opposite,  a  lie;  that  he  did  not  want  her,  did  not  desire  her.  He  did,  he  does.  The  room  around  them  seemed  to  grow  more  stifled,  Argella's  statement  thrummed  in  the  air.  And  he  really  did  fight  against  the  impulse  that  rose  in  him,  for  all  his  good  intentions  in  asking  to  speak  with  her  to  rectify  the  'wrong'  —  those  words  kept  dying  in  his  throat.  The  kings  feet  carried  him  closer  to  Argella,  and  he  stared  down  at  her  with  quiet,  roiling  intensity,  "This  is  when  I  planned  to  ask  your  forgiveness  for  my  behaviour,        and  when  I  intended  to  tell  you  it  will  never  happen  again. I find myself unable to say those words with sincerity" Aegon admitted, closing the distance further. With his hand cupping the side of her throat, his thumb ran against the soft line of her jaw, skirting barely the edge of her lips and remembered the taste, he finally added; "I should not have asked you here."

Getting   called   at   night   by   the   king   was   a   rare   thing,   one   she   had   not   spoken   to   her   husband,   as   the   message   itself   was   send   in   secrecy,   though   no   one   would   question   if   she   was   seen   around.   The   former   storm   queen   was   very   vocal   in   her   opinions   and   often   spoke   loud   to   the   King.   Except   now   the   air   is   charged   with   more   than   just   opinions,   is   it   not?   Images   of   his   lips   upon   her   breast,   or   the   way   he   had   thrusted   inside   her,   her   body   aching   for   that   fire   inside   him,   one   she   recognized   in   her   husband.   But   he   was   not.   He   rejected   her   hand   before   the   war   began   and   yet,   upon   the   Aegonfort'   hidden   crumbs,   he   had   taken   her   with   the   ease   a   man   takes   a   wife,   and   she   had   allowed   it.

   Argella's   gaze   hardened,   though   there   was   an   undeniable   flicker   of   fire   behind   her   eyes.   She   lifted   her   chin   as   Aegon’s   hand   brushed   along   her   jaw,   the   touch   stirring   a   memory   she   had   fought   to   bury   as   stubbornly   as   she   had   fought   her   father’s   wars.   His   admission   held   weight,   spoken   like   an   apology,   yet   the   intent   was   clear—a   hunger   he   could   neither   deny   nor   fully   embrace.

"Then   perhaps,"   she   said,   her   voice   as   measured   as   a   drawn   blade,   "you   ought   to   have   left   that   door   shut."   But   even   as   the   words   fell   between   them,   she   made   no   move   to   turn   away.   Her   own   hand   rose,   pressing   lightly   against   the   back   of   his,   anchoring   his   touch   against   her   skin.

The   distance   between   them   grew   small,   their   breaths   mingling   as   she   continued,   eyes   daring   him,   taunting.   "Yet   here   we   are,   Aegon.   Words   unspoken   and   silences   too   loud   to   ignore.   You   are   a   king,   with   all   the   world   beneath   your   rule.   And   yet,   tonight   you   cannot   command   yourself?   You   once   rejected   my   hand   in   marriage   because   you   had   two.   But   had   no   issue   to   take   me   as   one   the   other   night."   Had   she   not   let   him   though?   Had   she   not   lifted   her   dress   and   straddle   the   man   with   ease   and   sought   to   hid   the   marks   he   left   on   her   from   Orys'   eyes.

She   felt   the   warmth   of   his   hand,   his   thumb   now   still   against   her   cheek,   and   she   leaned   into   it,   defiant   yet   drawn.   Her   voice   lowered,   barely   a   murmur,   but   edged   with   challenge.   "Or   are   you   asking   me   to   make   the   decision   you   cannot?"

Nodding   with   a   calm   smile,   Rhaenys   carefully   chose   her   words,   knowing   well   that   her   mother’s   sharp   mind   was   ever   watchful   for   weakness.   "I   will   make   sure   that   the   alliances   we   need   are   sought   and   made,   mother.   The   realm   requires   bonds   forged   in   loyalty,   not   just   in   flame.   Meraxes   will   be   called   upon   only   when   Aegon   requests   it."

She   paused,   studying   Valaena’s   expression   for   any   trace   of   emotion.   There   was   little   to   be   found,   but   Rhaenys   had   long   since   learned   that   strength   was   not   always   measured   by   fire   and   blood   alone.   "Laws   to   give   women   in   this   realm   more   liberty   than   they   were   allowed.   Or   at   least-justice   given   when   men   are   not   put   in   place."   Hers   will   be   a   court   of   entertainment   and   alliances.   Visenya   wields   the   sword,   she   wields   the   ties   of   the   Gods   to   unite   realms.

With   her   words,   she   hoped   to   remind   her   mother—and   herself—that   there   were   more   ways   to   wield   power   than   simply   through   dragons.   Yet   she   knew   the   fire   in   her   veins   would   always   be   there,   just   as   her   mother   intended.

Aegon   stood   before   his   mother   behind   the   war   seat,   his   expression   thoughtful   as   her   words   echoed   in   his   mind.   There   was   a   truth   to   her   plea,   one   he   had   long   understood.   Westeros   had   been   torn   apart   by   endless   battles,   its   fields   soaked   with   the   blood   of   those   who   sought   power   without   purpose.   Yet   Aegon   knew   his   cause   was   different.   His   gaze   softened   as   he   regarded   her,   a   deep   respect   for   her   wisdom   mingling   with   the   weight   of   the   crown   he   sought.

“We   must   be   better,”   Aegon   agreed,   his   voice   calm   but   resolute.   “But   better   does   not   mean   without   bloodshed.   Peace   does   not   come   without   struggle,   mother.   Those   who   refuse   to   yield   their   crowns,   who   cling   to   their   thrones   despite   knowing   they   cannot   withstand   the   might   of   dragons—blood   will   be   spilled,   whether   I   will   it   or   not.”

His   tone   grew   firmer,   though   not   unkind.   “I   will   not   seek   slaughter   for   slaughter’s   sake.   We   will   offer   them   mercy,   a   chance   to   bend   the   knee.   But   if   they   will   not   accept   that   hand,   then   I   will   not   shy   from   the   sword.”   He   turned   slightly,   looking   out   over   the   horizon,   where   the   Seven   Kingdoms   lay   fragmented   and   divided.   His   voice   softened   again.   "In   my   dream   we   are   one   kingdom.   It   will   happen.   But   our   house   was   never   one   to   shy   from   blood."

Argella   stood   rigid   as   Orys   spoke,   his   voice   deep   yet   soft,   offering   her   words   she   hadn’t   expected   to   hear   from   the   man   who   had   taken   her   family’s   stronghold.   His   dark   eyes   lingered   on   her,   unwavering   as   he   said   them.   The   compliment   hung   in   the   air,   heavy,   her   hardened   exterior,   carefully   built   from   years   of   defiance   and   pride,   urged   her   to   scoff   at   his   attempt   to   charm   her.

But   despite   herself,   despite   the   walls   she   had   thrown   up,   there   was   a   warmth   in   his   words,   something   that   stirred   beneath   the   iron   shell   she'd   forged.   The   moon—distant   yet   radiant,   unreachable   but   admired   from   afar.   She   swallowed   down   the   sudden   flutter   in   her   chest.

Her   lips   pressed   into   a   thin   line   as   she   turned   to   face   him   fully,   her   chin   tilting   slightly   upward   in   a   display   of   pride.   "Flattery   doesn't   change   facts,   Orys   Baratheon,"   she   said,   her   voice   steady,   though   the   sharp   edge   was   dulled   slightly   by   the   faintest   hint   of   curiosity.   "You   took   Storm's   End,   and   now   you   think   to   sweeten   your   victory   with   words?"

But   as   her   eyes   met   his,   she   faltered,   the   heat   of   his   gaze   reminding   her   that   they   were   no   longer   enemies   on   a   battlefield.   They   were   husband   and   wife   now.   The   thought   of   that,   of   the   man   standing   before   her,   made   the   breath   catch   in   her   throat.   She   refused   to   let   her   guard   down,   yet   a   part   of   her,   deep   within,   whispered   that   perhaps   not   everything   he   did   was   in   conquest.   "And   now   you   are   meant   to   take   me   as   well."

Argella   Durrandon   stood   tall,   her   eyes   locked   on   Aegon   Targaryen’s   as   his   question   hung   in   the   air.   The   Conqueror,   they   called   him   now,   though   she   had   yet   to   be   impressed   by   his   title.   His   voice   had   been   calm,   almost   gentle   when   he   asked   her,   and   she   paused,   weighing   her   words   carefully.   Politeness   dictated   one   thing,   but   Argella   had   never   been   one   to   soften   her   sharp   edges   for   anyone,   least   of   all   her   conqueror.

Her   heart   swelled   with   pride   and   defiance,   remnants   of   Storm’s   End   and   the   house   she   once   ruled   as   the   Storm   Queen.   “I   would   have   freedom,”   she   said,   her   tone   as   poised   as   it   was   firm.   “A   thing   that,   as   it   stands,   belongs   now   to   you—and   to   Orys   Baratheon.”   She   watched   his   face   for   any   flicker   of   reaction.   Argella   allowed   herself   a   small   smile,   just   enough   to   show   she   would   not   be   cowed.

“You   ask   me   if   I   desire   love   or   happiness,   wealth   or   health,   but   I   do   not   believe   your   conquest   was   made   out   of   love.”   Her   words   were   a   challenge,   though   her   voice   remained   polite.   The   Stormlands   were   no   longer   hers,   but   her   spirit   was   yet   untamed,   and   no   crown,   no   sword,   could   take   that   from   her.   "So   what   would   Aegon   the   Conqueror   have?"
