“What? I’m being serious.”
“You okay? Not...intoxicated by any chance?”
“Chiron said so? Plus nymphs aren’t the only things that live in the forest.”
“I don’t care.” Harley said, forging on. She had been having a rough time, and honestly just needed a little space. All she needed was to be alone and this kid was making it pretty hard.
Alex nearly fell over when he heard the girl’s voice, barely holding back a surprised gasp. “Right, Zeus is, like, the…big guy ‘round here.” He gulped. “Demigods…I can’t believe that I…I mean, I had to rescue my friend from this monster and next thing you know, I’m here…”
“Ooh what kind of monster? Big and nasty? Yeah, you never really outgrow the monsters trying to kill you thing.”
“Me too. My mum’s one of the best. I’m trying to catch up with her. I’m Dorian. Dorian Saunders.” He was already a big name in the ballet world, and he dropped in his surname just to make sure she knew. “If you want to dance, I think I’m gonna set up one of the empty rooms in my cabin to be a studio. –Pegasus? They actually have those?”
Harley’s smile dropped and her eyes widened as he clarified who he was. “Holy shit. What the hell are you doing here? You should be in like, Rome or Russia or France or something. Holy shit Dorian Saunders.”
“Sounds good to me.”
“So how’s life Sam?” Harley asked, throwing her a knife.
“Sure.” Aiden nodded. “More of a bow and arrow kind of dude, but I could use some practice with those suckers.”
“Never really picked up bow and arrow stuff. Knife fighting just seems to much more concrete.”
“Bladed weapon. Not actual deer horns.”
“Ah. Okay. Was a little confused there for a second.”
“Just looking aroung. Seeing what’s changed since I left.”
“How long ago were you here?”
“Oh, well, this part of grass was dying, so I am giving it plenty of water. And then I am going to assist that young camper down from the tree. I don’t think we have met. I am Ophelia. I am more of a teacher here than a regular camper.”
“Uh...hi. I guess. I’m Harley. What do you mean a teacher?”
“You do realise this place is out of bounds?”
“Why would it be out of bounds?”
The tall girl stared at the item in the campers hand, wondering what it was and why it was so shiny. Jae In had seen other campers with those but didn’t understand what they were or what they did, the things from the present were so confusing. Titling her head, she asked “W- Whats that?”
Harley had been in the middle of texting Liam a long-winding message, but she looked up, startled as the girl in front of her stared at her phone. She crinkled her brows, and held it up so she could see the screen. “A...cellphone?”
“When I die and I’m cremated, please put me in a Mr. Potato head and dress me up for every holiday.”
“...okay?”
“This…is…not…happening.” Alex gulped as he stood in front of the Zeus cabin, holding a guitar case in one hand and a suitcase in the other. Seriously, was he dreaming? Just 24 hours ago, he was in that rehab center and now he was in…whatever the hell this was. Confused, scared, a little freaked out…yep, he was definitely in trouble.
“Trust me bud, it’s happening.” Harley said, leaning on the side of the Zeus cabin. “And you seem to be one of the most powerful people here. Demi-gods, that is.”
“I know how you feel. I dislike swords too. I can if you want. I’m good with knives, but I still prefer my deer horns.”
“Deer horns?”
“Ballet, mostly.” He shrugged, deciding to leave off the fact he was world class. “Yeah, I guess so. Gods are real and all that. I don’t think it’s set in properly yet.”
“Ballet?” Harley asked in delight, glad she had found a kindred soul. “I’ve done ballet for the longest time. And, I know, it takes a while. For me it set in when I saw a pegasus.”
The blonde laughed and shook her head, “Oh no, magic is much more fascinating. It’s just light, nothing more nothing less.”
“Is it hot? Like fire?”
“I’m not to good with swords actually, a little to heavy for me, but we could practice with knives if you want to spar a little?”
