biography Tw: drug and alcohol mention, childhood trauma, adoption system, death of a loved one.
Harley was born in a small village in Russia to Valeria and Alexander Volkov. Her birth name was Dasha Volkov. Her parents weren’t ready for a child due to their problematic behavior. They consumed alcohol and drugs practically every day and Harley could stay at home alone for hours and hours without her parents. She obviously doesn't remember any of this but, no one should ever have to go through something like this. This continued up until their neighbor called child services on them. Harley got into the system when she was about 2. After two years in and out of foster homes, Harley was finally adopted at the age of 4 by an American couple in the states, the Mitchell couple. As soon as they adopted her they changed her name to Harley Mitchell. The family lived in providence peak, a small town located near the mountains of Colorado. At first, Harley got a better life, she was finally taken care of, being loved, truly loved. It helped that the family was rich and powerful. Her father, Richard Mitchell was a very well-known and successful criminal lawyer and her mother, Matilda Mitchell was a housewife. Harley was her mother's daughter even though she was adopted and had other siblings. None of that mattered as she was the closest. Harley barely saw her father due to his busy work defending the most notorious criminals. Harley always got everything her heart desired, no one could say no to her cute face. She was a straight A student and did everything she could to be the perfect child. Harley was a popular kid, she always had a lot of friends, some fake some real but, most importantly, she was a people person. Everything changed when her mother died because her father was involved with the wrong crowd. Matilda was killed and no one could bring her back to Harley. Harley became distant, didn't go to school for months after the funeral, and couldn't stand her father. Richard and Harley were never close but now, they would never be. Harley slowly got herself together and graduated high school with a great diploma. As soon as Harley celebrated her 18th birthday she left her home. Staying with friends, couch surfing, or the streets never really helped and she couldn’t hold a steady job for long. No real job wanted to hire her as she didn't go to college or had any real money. One night, Harley decided that she needed to find a way to earn enough money to take care of herself Without anyone’s help, not even her dad's. She worked as a waitress while developing her own business as a host of true crime podcasts, a topic she really liked and did her research on. At first, no one really listened to it but Harley being the person she is, she made it work. More and more people tuned in and listened to her. Now, at the age of 28, she’s working as a well knows true crime podcaster, renting a small apartment along with her dog Maybelle.
