Don't Let It Fool You || Haiden
A smile tugs at the corner of Aiden’s lips as Harper reciprocates the definition of “special” back to himself. With a slight shrug, he dismisses the argument that could arise from debating his own self-worth, and rather focuses on the brunette’s mouth as she speaks. Sure, they were just friends, but was it so bad to want to lean across that table and kiss her like he had wanted to during that night on the cliff?
The little muttered words that flow across her lips make it to Aiden’s ears, but don’t quite make it to his brain for a second or two. A few moments of silence pass before he breaks himself out of the concentration on Harper’s mouth before he can reply, his voice a bit louder now because all of the rough spots are through — at least for now.
“Yeah, I am hungry,” he replies, folding his hands together on top of the table and twiddling his thumbs — mostly to keep himself from reaching across the short distance between them and pulling Harper’s lips to his. “I heard this place whips up a pretty mean sloppy Joe. You up for it?”
Aiden can’t help but give a boyish grin while patting an impatient beat on the table with his hands. With the raise of an eyebrow, he stands from his former position and waits for Harper’s affirmation.
It didn't take a genius to know that Aidens eyes were placed on her mouth. No way was that little and yet huge thing was going to get Harper all riled up. She wouldn't let it. She had to admit though that it had spiked up her hopes of them getting back together, though she still had to get used to the company of the werewolf - of Aiden. She didn't know how to make it go faster but all she knew was that she wanted him the same.
His reply makes her chuckle under her breath and nod. Of course he would be hungry. His kind had an extra appetite after all. Sort of like how Harper had before and was now starting to portray ever since getting in good graces with Aiden. She was glad she had answered that text he had sent her and didn't regret it one bit nor would she ever.
She nods, "Yeah, of course I'm up for it." She affirms and then sees him get up and so she does too. She had to admit she missed that boyish grin of his. It was one of the things that made him Aiden and it was one the things she would cherish forever. She looks over at him and then in the direction of the restaurant. She lead the way. "We're splitting the check." She says, not wanting to let him pay for the food when they just got back to being friends. Harper wouldn't allow that and would argue back if he was against the idea.
Anyone want to go ice skating?
Great, its good to see you again Harper
You too.
Anyone want to go ice skating?
Hey Harper! I’m down, -shrugs- if you want to go with me
Oh hey Camille. Yeah, sure, I'd like that.
Anyone want to go ice skating?
I feel up for some fun.

Aiden’s ears picked up Harper’s hushed tone, but it’s the harsh words that bring him to lift his eyes in an attempt to meet hers. He had looked away from fear; he was afraid that Harper would express her pure frustration and anger with him, just like she always used to before this happened. It wasn’t hard to get Harper to snap, and Aiden knew that his unveiled secret had to have made her very, very upset. In the end, all he had wished for was some acceptance, something that his newly-renamed mother hadn’t ever shown to the young werewolf. Even now, Aiden felt vile and disgusting because of what he was, just because Harper ran away from the kind of person he really, truly was. Now he had expected Harper to be angry, maybe yell a bit, but instead she seemed calm and at least more composed than usual.
Harper’s little monologue brings a smile to Aiden’s face. She’s never seemed so adamant — or determined — about something since they’ve met. The fact that she wants to change her view on supernaturals makes it all the better for Aiden and the werewolves he knew that hung out with her regularly.
Before saying anything at all, Aiden lets the usually quiet brunette finish. The question at the end of her speech sends Aiden over the cliff of “elated” and makes his grin widen.
“Of course. I’d love to be friends again,” he chuckles a bit, happy that Harper wants to at least be together somehow. Plus, she wants to “take it from there,” meaning she still has those feelings that he can also feel making his heart pound when he’s just sitting across a table from her. Granted, he’s taken one step backwards after his secret being revealed, but friends is better than nothing. Aiden quickly makes a mental note to thank Camille for giving Harper some insight on their kind. He never would have expected the new pack member to be of such help to his personal life. “I missed ya,” he throws in quietly, catching the twang in his voice that he’s learned from a certain Southern teleporter.
“And ya know, Harps,” he begins, scratching the back of his head and then looking back at her happily, this time eye to eye, “you’re the most special person I know. Just because I’m…well,” Aiden stumbles on his word choice just in case the wound is still fresh for Harper, “…what I am, doesn’t mean I’m special. Odd, sure. Freaky, yes. But special? Nah.” With a shrug, Aiden throws off the definition he’s made for himself and instead decides to focus on the sparkle he swears he can see in the brunette’s eyes.
When the - when Aiden confirmed that he'd love to be friends again, Harpers chest pounded. She was happy about that but that also didn't mean she was fully comfortable hanging out like they had before. There had to be intervals between each time and a time elapse. Harper had thought all this through which was strange for her and was probably making Aiden think they same thing. Harper wasn't one to think things through and rather acted out on her feelings most of the times. She was angry, but now...now she was learning. Learning meant growth and Harper had plenty of that this past month.
So because she was happy, she couldn't help but let out a small smile. She fiddled with her sleeve which was now on her lap. "Me too." She replies when Aiden said that he missed her. Harper did miss him. In fact the moment she left him there when he was crying, she missed him but her anger and hurt got the best of her like it always did and she didn't return back. Not until today, at least.
She looks at him eye to eye when he starts to speak up more. She could see him struggling on saying the word of what he was and she wanted to say it was okay for him to say it outloud but Harper wasn't so sure now was the right time. Harper still had that same old feeling she had been living with for her entire life still lingering. It would take awhile to get used to the term, but hearing that she was the most special person he knew..that uplifted her heart in ways he wouldn't be able to understand. It made her smile, almost made her cry in joy even but she kept those tears back.
Odd and freaky? Aiden? No, he was much more than that in Harpers eyes. "You're special, Aiden. Trust me." Harper says and then clears her throat afterwards. "So, uh, are you hungry?" The last meal she had was pizza, and more pizza. Tyler had come over with two boxes the other day and then ordered a third. It was probably the only real food she had in a month and now that she was at the bar with a restaurant attached to it, Harper was starving.
So.. Sarge found a lady friend.
Should I be worried?
