“Oh quit your bitching before I turn this car around and leave you in the woods.”
It was 4 months before the that day, the day it all went wrong.
Ashley had recently broken up with her most recent “Flavour of the month” as Lars liked to call it, so she was out clearing her head via hiking, as her therapist had asked her to do.
So, she’d invited Lars out on this “Therapeutic” woods trip, or whatever, and he said yes practically instantly which was surprising to say the least, she’d always thought Lars was more of her brothers friend than hers but she wasn’t complaining, Lars for all his bitching and whining was actually a pretty funny guy, and sweet too underneath that salty exterior of his.
After a little while more of his bitchy comments, they’d arrived at the spot. it was in the middle of a giant fir tree woods, you could see the fish occasionally jumping up from the lake that was just below them,
They got out of the car and unloaded all the stuff from the trunk which included, a nice little food cooler, a classic picnic blanket, and a spare bag of medical and outdoorsy equipment that was packed just in case.
Ashley went and found a nice spot to sit and layed out the blanket on the grass, while lars worked on getting the food and other bags over there, gently placing the food bag in the centre, and the other bag rested behind him. They both were sat to eachothers side, having an amazing view of the running river below them.
“Holy shit..” Lars said wistfully, completely stunned by the beauty of his surroundings,
“See, told you it was worth it.” Ashley said with a slight chuckle, a small smug grin teased at the corner of her lips, “Anyways I’m starving, you got the sandwiches? Or did you forget them again” she teased lightly, referring to an older trip that happened when they were kids.
“Oh fuck off ash” Lars chuckled, gently giving her a small shove, before reaching into the cooler, pulling out a sandwich and handing it over to her, as Ashley went to take the sandwich from him, their hands briefly brushed against eachother, it sounds cheesy but Lars swears it felt like electric running through his veins in that moment, that short, sweet moment..
“..Lars?.. Lars!”
“Huh, what?!”
“Fuck are you staring at?? Is there like a bear behind me or?..”
“No, no, uh sorry ash, just.. got distracted” Lars didn’t realise that he was completely gawking at Ashley. she was just, so beautiful, smart, funny and to top it off, she could be a complete ass just like him.
“Idiot” Ashley murmured teasingly, before unwrapping her sandwich and beginning to eat it, Lars chose to ignore it and grabbed his sandwich out the cooler, and copied Ashley, they both were eating in complete silence as they stared at the beautiful things around them, for Ashley it was the woods, For Lars it was Ashley.
But what lars didn’t know was that every time he wasn’t looking at her, she would take a short side eye glance at him.
The shared silence wasn’t awkward feeling, but that of a mutual connection kindling, a slight attraction on one side, and just maybe one building on the other.

Erik
• He has those nip piercings for a reason, he loves any chance to show them off.
meaning in hot weather he’ll usually be found in his signature Hawaiian shirt with the buttons undone, probably hanging around by the grill talking to Howard.
• He also has a neck fan that was gifted to him by Julia as she had a spare lying around.
Julia
• (as mentioned briefly above) She has a little fan that rests on her neck, she thinks it’s the best invention yet, and loved to torment Erik with it before she gave him her spare one.
• Shes a frequent, bikini under a vest or just a bikini top and denim/comfy shorts girlie.
Bobby
•Bobby (as seen briefly in the movie) has a vast collection of old t-shirts that’ve been converted into vest tops, those are his go-to in hot weather.
•He’s an avid believer in ice packs, whenever the weather gets hot, the ice packs appear in the family freezer.
Stefani
• Stefani is a short floral-ish dress type of girl, preferably the ones that also double as a skort (skirt & shorts)
• She has several electric hand held fans always on standby, in class? Hand fan. Dorms? Hand fan. They’re also colour coded for occasion, but she really isn’t too strict on that.
Charlie
•Charlie learned from Bobby about turning old t-shirts into vests and is also now an avid wearer of them. Having turned some of Erik’s old passed down band shirts into them.
• He is a lover of ice pops, and cold showers, thats his go to during the summer, if it’s too hot though he’ll try out his family’s tactics.
Bonus headcannon
The Campbell siblings have always loved a water fight, (Brenda has Howard to thank for that one) even into adulthood you can always find them having an intense water fight in the backyard when the summer finally arrives. And yes, they do always try to drag Charlie and Stefani into it.
