aren't you that guy who stalks my mom | closed
She… wasn’t getting this at all. Hello? Absolutely terrifying killer whale right here, right now?
Idate retained his wide smile despite being confused by the warm ball of fluff he was holding. That… wasn’t the reaction he had been expecting at all. Most of the inhabitants of the iceberg generally panicked or avoided him because they simply knew what he was capable of doing to them… but Mafuyu, waving her little flipper arms in his grasp like a toddler and greeting him with such a friendly disposition, seemed completely unaware of the danger present. It was pitifully adorable.
He ran his right hand up along her flipper, careful to still keep her held upright with the other. She wasn’t that heavy after all, and not hard to hold even while squirming a bit — notes for later. The soft texture of that fur… a pale white that reminded him of the cold, of their home. The sweet chilly depths of the sea in the north, where the two of them should have had their first encounter. When he reached the tip of her paw, he let out a small sigh… and pinched tightly.
"Ah, my name…"
He paused for a bit while turning his head to glance at the put-out cigarette in the sand from earlier, purposefully ignoring her question as he squeezed… hoping to hear at least somewhat of a tearful cry from the baby seal. A few seconds of pain probably seemed like forever to such an untouched child. Heh, he knew he was getting in trouble if she ever found out about this…
"Momma didn’t tell you? About Idate. I’m a pretty strong orca, you know?"
He could, theoretically, just spend hours here toying with this innocent kid. One so young really should learn about their natural enemies, don’t you think? But just ending it now with a swift kick or a forceful bite would have been boring. If you nurtured the fear in them slowly the looks on their faces were far more rewarding…
Releasing his grip on her paw and slowly lowering her back down under the shade of the palm tree, Idate patted the top of her head lightly. "It’s dangerous out here all alone, don’t you think? For a kid like you."
For some reason Mafu couldn't understand, this orca was still holding her. It was weird for people to hold her and not do anything, usually they pet her head or something, spoke to her and asked her about her day, but never looked at her with just an odd smile and did nothing else for a few moments. It must have hurt to smile so wide for so long, keeping your mouth like that was a pretty tough thing to do! Maybe it was a skill adults developed as they grew older? If so, that'd be great, you could show people how happy you were for longer.
Oh, but then his hand went down to her paw and she blinked when he squeezed. Mafuyu wasn't used to pain, but had experienced it once or twice.
Once, when she was alone and starving before Rocma found her on the iceberg, before she had died of starvation, she had been in great pain. It was a blurry memory, but still a memory of pain none the less. Seal cubs without mothers had a hard time surviving and chances were if Rocma hadn't found her, Mafu would be dead. The other time, which happened often, would be when Rocma took her flipper into her paw. While used to it, sometimes her claws dug into her flippers and it stung, but Mafu never complained. She didn't want to hurt her feelings.
This hurt though, and she blinked again before looking at the orca. Mumbling out an "ouch" as she wondered how long he would pinch her for and why he was even doing so, she also was aware he looked the other way for a second too while continuing to pinch her poor flipper. It came to the point where the pain numbed out as he continued, and she listened to his introduction as she became aware of the numbness spreading around the paw. She was grateful for the blubber around her paw too, it was probably making some of the pain go away.
❝Idate the orca?❞ She managed to mumble, repeating the names a couple of times in her head to see if she remembered anyone with a name like that, but coming up with nothing. Then, jolting suddenly when her paw was released from the tight bind, she looked up at the taller sea creature upon having both feet placed firmly on the ground, flapping her paw around a little to try and get the feeling to come back to it. ❝... No, Rocma only talks about a "pain in the butt" she has to deal with every so often. She calls him lots of bad words too, is that you?❞
Her paw had gone a little red, but nothing too bad remained. She was okay. She wouldn't cry because she was a big girl and big girls only cry when they have to prevent their eyes from freezing over when in their seal form back home. That happened to her once. It took her ages to thaw them. Her eyes were sore for weeks.
❝It's too warm inside. It's cold beside the water and under the tree!❞ She said it as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, waving her other paw, the one that wasn't sore, towards the tree behind them. ❝We don't have trees like this at home!❞
