Kisses After Shifts - 24.08.2025
I had a lot of fun thinking about Billy coming over to Scoops as Steve is closing it and busy cleaning and putting things in order. Of course his boyfriend Billy has to be a tease and distract him đ€

Steveâs chest was rising and falling quickly, sweat dripping down his forehead as his eyes darted around. Particles floated around him as he examined the area, demo bats fluttered and squealed overhead. Red lightning cracked inconsistently causing Steve to jump, his vision blurred as he rushed forward attempting to avoid coiling vines that would seal his fate in the chase.Â
Demodogs were on the hunt, and monstrous demogorgon was their leading the hunt. All he knew was that he had been running with Dustin trying to keep him safe. He had tripped forward, slamming his face on the ground before he had woken to find himself in the upside down.Â
The demogorgon that hunted him had once known him, sat beside him in the showers. He had known him as a human, but he was a creature now. His body had changed when he entered the upside down.Â
Something inside of him told him it was important to keep moving because if he stopped he knew he would be killed, at least that was what he expected. He kept running, the muscles in his legs burning as he moved. He was determined to survive, once he could figure out how to escape the upside down. He groaned as he managed to take a quick turn. The demodogs continued rushing forward while he sat and hid. He curled up in a ball trying to breath and think. He knew that the larger demogorgon was on his tail, but he was hopeful that they wouldnât see him, that they would keep running like the other creatures did.Â
He slowly stood up, pressing himself against the strange looking trees. Vines were searching the ground for him, but he was doing his best to avoid them. He slowly moved backward, searching for a familiar house that he hoped would be safe. He knew the upside down wasnât a safe place to be, it was dangerous all in all, but it certainly felt like he was capable of survival if all he did was keep himself hidden from the woods and the open.Â
He crept slowly around rocks and bent trees, letting out a shaky breath believing he was safe. He kept moving, before something large grabbed him from behind. âNo.. NoâŠâ
Steve could feel the strange leathery skin of the creature that held him. He kicked and struggled, screaming as he waited for the mouth of the demogorgon to consume him. Instead he was pinned against the ground. He struggled and whined as he attempted to turn his head towards the monster. The leathery skin rubbed against him, he groaned and whined as he heard the sound of heavy breathing. The weight of the creature grew slightly lighter, when he heard a voice. Familiar, safe.. But he knew it was all a lie.Â
âHey.. Stevie.. How are you doing.. I see you found your way back to me..â The voice almost seemed to echo. Like it wasnât really coming out of its mouth but emitting from it. The creature chortled, laughing as it continued to lean forward over him. Steve looked up in horror as the creature loomed over him. Its flowery face opened up, snarling and screaming in his face.
âNo.. No⊠You-Youâre no..Not Billy⊠NoâŠâ Billyâs laugh mixed with the animalistic monstrous sound of the demogorgon. Steve tried to pull away, the creature seemed to know what he desired. It let up, removing its foot from Steveâs back. Steve scrambled forward, the demogorgon creature followed behind him each step followed Steve moving forward, he was crawling away unable to escape him quick enough. The demogorgon snarled again and jumped in front of him in one swift motion.Â
Steve looked up at the creature, and it was startling. It was different then any demogorgon he had ever seen. It was larger, itâs body was hulk and while it had the normal demogorgon coloring it had a large hole in the middle of its chest. Black ooze was dripping from its chest.Â
Steve blinked, for a moment he could see Billy at his last stand in the mall. The creature hissed, snarling. Billyâs voice echoed from the creature. âArenât you happy to see me Stevie? Iâve missed you.â
Steve managed to get himself up at the feeling of panic radiating through him. He managed to get himself into a run, the demogorgon laughed and chortled as it followed in a quick run. Steve knew it was close behind, the demogorgon was gaining on him and he only had so far to run. Terror was pushing him to move despite the panic inside of him.
Billy, no the demogorgon, wanted a chase. It wanted to consume, and hurt and shred.Â
At least, that was what Steve believed.Â
A vine shot out, wrapping around Steveâs ankle almost in order to help the demogorgon creature. Steve hit the ground with a thud, he groaned and rolled only to have the demogorgon back on top of him. It jumped, pinning his arms above his head with one gangling hand while one of the clawed feet began to shred at his clothes.Â
âPl-pleaseâŠâÂ
âDonât worry, Iâll be sure to make you feel everything.â Billyâs voice echoed to him. Steve anticipated the demogorgon to bite and to mame. Instead he felt the cool strange air of the upside down around his cock. Steveâs eyes shot open as the demogorgon continued to tear at his clothing. Vines began to wrap around his wrists to give the creature more leeway, its teeth began to shred at his clothing until he was laying against the ground fully naked.Â
âFu-fuck⊠NoâŠâ
The demogorgon chortled again, a large cock began to expose itself from the creature's body. Billyâs voice began to come through again. âI had wanted to fuck you nice and hard in the showers. Now Iâm going to ravage you like this.â
Steve was tense, the large cock was throbbing as it loomed over him. It twitched at it leaned against his lips. Steve bit his lip thrashing his head as the vines began to wrap around his throat and inner thighs to keep him down. The creature slashed at him, blood began to pool up from his shoulder. He screamed in pain and the creature shoved its cock deep. Steve struggled and sobbed as he attempted to breathe and suck.Â
The creature chortled, breathing heavily. He was glucking and groaning, trying to breathe. The creature's long cock was thrusting in and out desperately. Steve could hardly breathe, the demogorgon hissed and continued to thrust in and out deep and hard as he tried to breath through it.Â
He gagged and gasped as he was forced to take the cock down his throat.Â
Tears were rolling down his face as the vines began to wrap around his legs and arms. They were probing at his virgin hole as the demogorgon continued to thrust. One vine wrapped around his soft cock, he squirmed and whined as he attempted to pull back. The demogorgon pulled back and flipped him over, the vines moved at his whim helping the demogorgon to get a better grip.
Steve screamed as he felt the demogorgons claws dig into his hips while the large throbbing cock pressed against his hole. âAgh.. Pl-pleaseâŠâ The demogorgon hissed as spit dripped between his cheeks. Steve wriggled crying as he felt the large tip stretching him open. The vines forced his legs further apart. The large cock slammed inward, bulging Steveâs belly wide. âNgh.. AghâŠâÂ
The demogorgon continued, itâs cock throbbing inside of Steve as he was used with desperation and rage. âFuck you.. are nice and tight..â
It was Billyâs voice despite the demogorgon creature that was using him without concern. Steveâs nails dug into the ground. Tears were rolling down his cheeks. The demogorgon snarled as it continued to thrust and growl. Steve screamed as it rammed inside of him. Cum began to flood his insides. He groaned and screamed, the demogorgons thrusts continued to be hard and fast despite the sheer amount of seed filling his swollen belly.Â
âNgh.. NoâŠâÂ
The creature continued to thrust. Billyâs voice echoed through the woods as cum continued to drip down his thighs. Steve whined as the vines wrapped tightly around his cock and balls. Billy chuckled. âGood boyâŠ. Youâre going to become my cock sleeve..â
Steve whimpered as the demogorgon stood while he hung off the cock his own belly swollen with seed. The demogorgonâs large hand wrapped around him as it began to walk. The cock slid in and out of him with each step.Â
Steve was sobbing, but he couldnât get away. The large cock continued to slam in as he walked, Steve was trapped in the upside down, as this demented Billy demogorgonâs cock slut.Â

Prompt:Â The boys having fun while on vacation at the beach, surfing, sunset walks on the sand, cocktails and dates by the seaside, being happy while at the beach.
âMotherfucker!â
âSeriously Steve?â Billy couldnât help but roll his eyes as his boyfriend attempted to bury his whole face into Billyâs chest, âYouâre a grown man who fought literal monsters and you are freaking out over a shitty movie?â
âItâs different,â Steve insists, âWhat am I supposed to do if a damn ghost is coming for me, itâs not like I can hit it with my bat is it?â
Billy snorts. He can laugh about it now sometimes, when the nightmares slow down for a little while but 1985 and 1986 in good old Hawkins, Indiana were a real shitshow.
The fact that Billyâs still in Hawkins is a whole other thing. He and Steve have an apartment here, Billy might as well go on down and buy the pair of them a shared plot at Roane Hill Cemetery heâs that convinced theyâre never getting out of this town.
There had been opportunities to leave but the timing was never quite right, Billy was still recovering or Max was still recovering. Then the shitbirds were graduating high school, normal life shit got in the way and now itâs 1988, three and a bit years since Steve kissed the apparent sanity out of him and Billyâs never left.
Billy turns his eyes back to the movie and watches as the fog spreads ominously across the beach, âAt least those fuckers got to fight their monsters in California, lucky bastards.â Billy sighs mournfully, âSteve, I would have loved to kill a âgorgan on the beach.â
Steve doesnât respond but Billy feels him smile into the kiss thatâs pressed to Billyâs neck.
âŒ
Steveâs been acting weird the week leading up to Billyâs birthday.
He was real cagey the few times Billy caught him whispering into the phone, all but fleeing into the shower after claiming to be just gossiping with Robin. Billy didnât quite buy it, Steve is a lot of things, but a good liar has never been one of them; Billy shrugged it off figuring it was just them being weird, heâs used to it at this point from the two of them.
Billy comes to the sobering realisation it must be about his birthday, realises it after a whole week of Steve giving Billy these looks. Guilty looks but with a hint of excitement, like Steve is hiding something ⊠and heâs happy about it? Jesus, Billy hopes Steve isnât going to throw him a surprise party again, he spent the first 20 minutes of his 19th birthday party sobbing into Steveâs shoulder in front of everyone he knows, and heâd really love not to relive that mortifying experience.
The morning of Billyâs 21st birthday Steve wakes him up with a kiss as normal, then a mind-blowing round of morning sex before leading him to the kitchen for coffee and pancakes. All in all, a perfect morning in Billyâs eyes.
He spends most of his workday musing over what the hell he should be expecting tonight since nothing of his morning was a surprise. Billy parks his car, he half expects to come home to an apartment full of freshly turned 18-year-olds throwing streamers in his face, surely Steve wouldnât try that again, please. Quickly Billy throws open the door and hearing nothing but quiet music, he slowly opens his eyes realising he had closed them on reflex expecting⊠something.
Billy walks further into the apartment and finds nothing but their dinky little table set up for two, decked out in the fancy tablecloth and tableware Steve stole from his parentâs house all those years ago.
âThereâs my birthday boy!â Steve croons, balancing two steaming plates as well as the bottle of wine in the crook of his elbow, âAre you hungry? I made your favourite.â
Billyâs eyes narrow in suspicion, âYeah,â he says slowly, âWhere is everyone else?â
âEveryone else?â Steve laughed, setting down the plates and leaning in for a kiss, âWhat? You want me to throw you a party now?â
Billy allows the kiss, despite his concerns. âSteve, I know there is some kind of surprise, youâve been about as subtle as a brick. You going to fuckinâ propose or something?â Billyâs joking, mostly but he still gets his kicks watching as Steveâs cheeks light up a pretty pink and the way his boyfriend stumbles over his words.
âOh my god, no Billy!â Steve groans, he pops one hand on his hip and wags his finger in Billyâs face like heâs a misbehaving child, âWould it actually kill you to just be good for once and wait?â
Billy grins, âIt just might babe, you never know.â
âSit the fuck down and eat your food asshole.â
Billy scoffs but does as heâs told and sits the fuck down and eats his food, though not without the occasional pout sent across the table.
Steve makes him wait until their plates are clear, then moves them over to the couch with their wine where he finally pulls out an envelope that was nestled behind the cushion and hands it to Billy.
Billy tears open the envelope, desperate for this whole surprise ordeal to be over so Steve can start acting like a normal person again and itâs â itâs just a birthday card. Billy raises an eyebrow at his boyfriend in question.
Steve rolls his eyes but heâs smiling all fondness, when he places a hand on Billyâs thigh, âWell? Open it up then babe.â
Billy opens the card. Blinks once, twice, three times before he finally registers what is inside. Stuck with tape to the opposite side of the card where Steveâs wrote his usual sappy shit that he writes in Billyâs cards are â plane tickets. Two plane tickets to California, dated three days from today; Billy doesnât even register that heâs crying until Steveâs warm hand is at Billyâs cheek gently wiping away a tear.
âBills, I promised you three years ago now that Iâd take you home one day, Iâm sorry it took me so long and Iâm sorry itâs just a vacation.â Steve pauses to sniffle and dash away a few tears of his own. âI-um.â
Suddenly, the couple of inches between them is too far and Billy pounces, cuts Steve off and kisses him, kisses him, kisses him. âDonât apologise, donât you dare. This is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me.â Billy breathes between kisses, voice full of wonder, âI get to â youâre taking me home.â
âŒ
The beach is even better than the one from Billyâs memories. The salt on the air, the heat on his skin and Billyâs hit all at once by the feeling of bittersweet nostalgia that clouds his vision with tears.
âHey baby,â Steve wraps his arms around Billyâs waist from behind, pulls him in while pressing kisses into his hair. âAre they good tears?â
Billy nods shakily and hears Steve let out a small sigh of relief. They stand for a minute, just soaking in the view as Billy tries to breathe through the memories coursing through his brain. He thinks of his mom, thinks of Tyler the first boy he ever kissed on this very beach, thinks of Neil catching them and â nope, shuts down that memory real fuckinâ quick.
Billy turns in Steveâs arms and finds Steve watching him with a gentle smile, he gets caught on that smile and the way Steveâs hair moves with the ocean breeze; Billy captures a mental polaroid of the moment, thinks about Steve who loves him so much he brought him to the beach, and adds it to his collection.
âI love you so much.â Billyâs voice comes out hoarse, he clears his throat and tilts his head to kiss Steve hard, right there on the beach and - fuck you, Neil. âThank you.â
Steveâs face softens as it always does after Billy gets a little mushy, he lifts a hand from Billyâs waist up to his cheek âIâd do anything for you, and this? Not exactly a hardship babe.â Steve says before pulling away, âWait here, donât move!â
Billy does as heâs told for once and stays put, digs his toes in the sand, feels the scorching heat of it from the midday sun, lets the feeling burn through him and be washed away when the water crashes gently at his feet. A tap on the shoulder has him turning to Steve and Billy canât be held responsible for the shocked sudden laugh that falls from his lips.
âSurfing!â Steve says, grinning like a loon, âItâs first on the itinerary!â
âSurfing.â Billy repeats with a smirk and a raised eyebrow, itâs not like he isnât fuckinâ dying to get back on a board, itâs just, âYouâre going to surf too?â
Steve huffs, âI was captain of the swim team for years babe, itâll be fine.â
âYeah, but I didnât ask if you were going to swim. You rented those right, you didnât think to get like, a teacher or something?â
âI donât need a teacher, I have you. Anyway, I bet Iâm a natural talent!â
Steve was absolutely not a natural talent.
Billy watched him wipeout five times until he had to plead with his boyfriend to stop. Steve clearly wasnât having fun and Billy was a nervous wreck each time that head of tousled hair he so loved took a little bit too long to resurface. Steve was frustrated at first but was assuaged by simply floating on his board and cheering for Billy when he caught a good wave. Billy canât believe he almost forgot this feeling, his mom used to always call him her little water baby and being back on a board felt like greeting the sea again as an old friend.
Steve had wandered off after an hour or so of floating and when Billy finally washed ashore, he found him chattering happily with a mom and her kid. Steve was wielding a little yellow bucket and assisting the girl with her sandcastle, tongue poking out in concentration as he focussed on shaping the tallest tower while the girl shrieked happily beside him.
The whole scene melted Billy a little, made him think about Steve and kids and what a good dad Steve would be and maybe Billy could be - Jesus the sun must have melted Billyâs brain or something, what the hell is wrong with him. Steve notices him and jumps up while Billyâs brain is still reeling from the train of thought it just went on, and all but demands he come see his sandcastle.
âBilly this is Laura, Hannahâs mom.â Steve gestures towards the woman who returns Billyâs smile, âAnd this is Hannah, sheâs the best sandcastle maker in all of California didnât you know?â
Billy nods seriously, âI can tell. Thatâs one good looking sandcastle you got there kid.â
âOh!â Hannahâs eyes go wide, âYouâre Steveâs boyfriend, he was telling us about you. He was right though, you are really pretty!â
âUh. Thanks kid, you are really pretty too.â Billy blushes, he glances over to Laura and sheâs still just smiling like she thinks theyâre cute, utterly unphased by them being two guys. Billy is too used to Hawkins where though he and Steve havenât actually âcome outâ as such, they still garner a sneer or two at the grocery store every now and then.
Steve saves him by declaring they have to go as they have reservations. As Billyâs waving goodbye he asks if Steve has every minute of this week booked up on his so called itinerary.
Steve smiles a little coy and reaches down to tangle their fingers together, âNah. Just today actually, todayâs a special one.â
âŒ
They wash off the sand and grit and get changed at the beachside cottage theyâre renting for the week. Steve keeps checking his watch and adjusting something in his pocket while Billy is fluffing his hair, antsy about the reservations they have apparently. Billy tries to unwind his boyfriend with a little makeout session but regretfully Steve cuts it short far too soon and insists if they leave right now, heâll make up for it later.
Billy grumbles on their way to the restaurant about being so cruelly denied his boyfriendâs dick but shuts up when he spots where they will be eating. The restaurant is nestled by the beach, with an outdoor patio area thatâs draped by hundreds of fairy lights overhead making the whole place glimmer. There is soft music coming from inside mixing in with the sound of the waves crashing just a few feet away. The whole place seems kinda magical and intimate and okay, fine Steve wins. Billy would have been pissed if heâd missed out on this.
Theyâre seated in a quiet area on the patio and Billyâs mouth waters when a waiter walks by with someoneâs order, the smell of seafood mingling perfectly with the salt air. Steve is smiling at him when Billy looks up from the menu, a little smug now that he knows Billy is impressed.
âYou like it baby?â Steve winks, smirking he leans back in his chair, arms crossed, all cocky like heâs âKing fuckinâ Steveâ again, âOrder whatever you want beautiful, itâs on me.â
Billy is about to wipe the smirk off his face by pointing out the 500 dollar bottle of wine â and holy shit, rich people are insane â when Steve leans back a little too far in his chair and it topples backwards, depositing his boyfriend into a heap on the floor. And there is the dork Billy fell in love with, Billy sniggers as a waiter comes rushing over to pick Steve off the floor despite his blushing protests.
âI love you.â Billy says once Steve is upright in his seat again, covering his face and groaning into his hands.
Steve peaks out from his hands and the embarrassment on his face melts into a beaming smile, he reaches out across the table to link their hands, âI love you more.â
They eat like royalty, lobster, muscles and the biggest scallops Billy had ever seen while they steadily drank their way through the cocktail menu on offer. Billy had been right in that it was kind of magical; they donât do things like this much in Hawkins, itâs not like they donât go on dates itâs just that itâs different. There arenât too many options besides Enzoâs or the diner after all and they donât seem all that special after the fiftieth visit with a pack of kids in tow for birthdays and graduations and even then, they canât always sit how they are now, tipsy and giggly and leaning over the table every now and then for a quick kiss.
Billy gazes at Steve, watching as the fairy lights make the brown of his eyes more shimmery and gold and he thinks for the millionth time how damn lucky he is.
âŒ
Steve insists on strolling along the beach after dinner to catch the sunset and Billy is full and sleepy, but he has to agree it sounds like a nice idea. Itâs quiet on the beach as they walk, hands tangled together as they have been almost every second since leaving the airport; there are a few clusters of people here and there, some other couples similarly taking in the view and a little off in the distance a group of teenagers are gathered around a fire, the embers catching off the dying rays of sunlight.
They stop just as the sun is hitting the horizon, Billy marvels at the way the sky is marbled by fading pink and hints of lavender slowly bleeding into deeper orange and reds. Billy feels Steveâs hand drop from his but is too enraptured by the colours reflecting in ripples onto the face of the water before them.
Billy isnât usually one to wax poetic about a sunset but that word from earlier keeps coming back to him, magical. The whole night has been like one of the old romance movies Billy used to watch with his mom when Neil stayed out late at the bar. He wonders if Steve is thinking the same way.
"Itâs really beautiful, isnât it?â Billy asks.
âYeah. It really, really is.â Steve replies but his voice sounds off, choked like when heâs about to cry.
Billy turns to his side and Steve⊠Steve isnât standing where he was a minute ago, confused Billy spins on his heel and. Steve is - holy fucking fuck is Billy dreaming? - Steve is on one knee and heâs holding out a ring and Billy canât breathe and -
âBilly.â Steve says.
âWhat the fuck Steve?â Billy interrupts.
Steve frowns up at him, he looks less confident suddenly with the way his shoulders start to creep up towards his chin and fuck, Billy is messing this up, of course he fucking is.
âBilly.â Steve starts again, sounding more determined than before, âI had a whole speech planned but that was dumb of me because I know you. I know you better than anyone and I donât know how I ever thought Iâd get through it without you interrupting me, so Iâll keep it short. I love you, love you âtil the end of the fucking line Bills. Will you marry me?â
âSteve.â Billy whispers, it feels like the only word he can say. Heâs going to cry. Billyâs going to explode into tiny little pieces of that magic heâs been feeling all night but â âSteve, we canât get married. Like legally.â
Steve shrugs, âDonât really care. Marry me baby. Say yes, you know you want to.â
Billy laughs despite himself at the stupid smile on Steveâs face, the stupid smile heâs going to get to keep forever and all itâll take is one word. âYes.â
Steve whoops and punches the air like heâs just shot the winning ball like he used to do in high school and Billy canât stop smiling. Heâs smiling when Steve slides the ring onto his finger, heâs smiling when Steve swoops him up like he weighs nothing and spins him around on the sand, his smile only falters when it has to as Steve leans in and kisses him, kisses him, kisses him.
They don't care if it's the hottest summer of the decade. The jackets stay on. They say it helps with their "tough" street cred (not really), getting them inside exclusive places (pizzeria across the arcade that nearly blacklisted them twice), and they could bed whoever they want (they only ever have eyes for each other since they were kids), as long as the jackets stay on.
@harringrove-summer-exchange this is my exchange for @billyharringson , I hope you like it :-)
So excited to finally be able to post my gift fic for the @harringrove-summer-exchange, for @keaganz! She listed the following as things she'd like to see in the fic, and I think I may have got them all: Top Billy/Bottom Steve, Upside-Down shenanigans, angst with a happy ending, smut, hurt/comfort. Hope you like it!
It was absolutely inspired by @safk-art's stunning Demo Steve art, highly encourage everyone to go check that out.

Steve was in a terrible mood as he patrolled the Upside Down looking for demo-creatures to cull. Billy had been livid when Steve left for the evening. He'd been in the trenches of another explosive argument after Billy demanded to come with Steve on his patrol. It was an argument they'd had repeatedly over the year they'd been together. Every time the group located another gate, Steve went in to clear the area in the Upside Down and ensure no demo-creatures leaked into Hawkins. And every time, Billy wanted to come help him.
Steve winced as he went back over the things they'd yelled at each other this time. He was particularly ashamed of calling Billy a "boringly human Upside Down reject". But in his defense, he'd said it after Billy had called him a "deranged flower-faced shit". Steve had slammed the door so hard on his way out of the house that he'd heard glass breaking in the living room.
He didn't understand why Billy insisted on trying to come with him. Steve was uniquely well-suited to this task after all the changes he'd undergone from the demodog bites in the tunnels. Billy, thanks to early intervention from Steve when he'd noticed the creeping presence of the Mind Flayer, was still fully human. He couldn't take on packs of demodogs in the Upside Down and come out unscathed, not the way Steve could.
Steve was pulled from his perseveration by rustling sounds in the trees around him. The gate had appeared near the Henderson house this time, bordering a patch of woods nearby. The human portion of his ears picked up only a vague rustling, and he was unable to accurately place the size and location of whatever was pursuing him.
He focused on the delicate seams along his jaws, instructing his muscles to release the tension holding them together. His head unfurled like a flower, his face opening to reveal a central gaping maw and five petal-like structures lined with razor-sharp teeth.
His senses unfolded along with his head. He could feel the vibrations of the world around him with the thin filaments that filled the spaces between all of the teeth. He could smell so much more with the olfactory organs hidden at the core of the mouth than he could with his human nose.
His brain parsed the new influx of vibrations and scents, sifting through the information to tell him that there were two demodogs in the trees to his right. They weren't even particularly big ones. This would be easy. He flexed his hands, popping his claws out of their sheaths, and waited.
The two demodogs burst from the trees, heading straight toward him. He caught a whiff of an out-of-place scent just before he heard a full-throated human scream. Someone threw themself between Steve and the demodogs.
He placed the scent a moment later - Billy. The fucker had followed Steve in.
Steve felt the vibrations in the air as Billy swung something long and wooden at the closest demodog, hitting it across the torso. He must've stolen Steve's bat. The demodog howled as the conical shape of its head unfurled. The second demodog dove at Billy while he was distracted. Steve sensed the movement in the air as the dog's mouth snapped near Billy's bare arm.
Steve threw himself at the second demodog, driving it to the ground and biting its head off before it could fight back. The first demodog had its mouth wrapped around the bat now, and was slowly pulling Billy toward it.
Steve raked his claws across its torso and it dropped the bat with a startled yelp. He grabbed its head between his two clawed hands, flexing the modified muscles there, and wrenched it sharply to the side. Its neck snapped and the head partially tore free from the body, spurting blood all over Steve.
Steve turned to Billy. He slowly furled the petals of his head, fitting them together to reform his face. Billy stared at him with wide eyes and an indecipherable expression on his face.
Billy hadn't been fully himself during the fight with the Mind Flayer, when the party had come together to save him from its grasp before it could get a firm hold in his mind. He didn't remember what Steve had done then to protect everyone. And since then, Steve had tried to keep this violent, monstrous side of himself from Billy as much as possible. Why had Billy followed him?
Before Steve could descend fully into his burgeoning worries, he picked up on a set of new vibrations with his lingering demo-senses. He could tell even from a distance that it was much bigger than a pair of demodogs.
"We need to go, now!" Steve snapped. He grabbed Billy by the arm and started to run back toward the gate.
Billy shook off his arm and planted his feet. "What? Why? I can help you if there's something else coming!"
Steve grabbed Billy's arm again and tugged. Billy didn't budge. "No, you can't. You're human. What if one of them bites you, and you turn into a fucked up demo-creature?"
Billy shrugged. "Then we'll match."
Steve let out a strangled cry. He gave up on trying to convince Billy. He used his preternatural strength to grab Billy around the waist and throw him over his shoulder in a fireman's carry.
"What the fuck are you doing?" Billy yelled. He beat his fists against Steve's back hard enough to bruise. "Put me down, you sick fuck!"
Steve ignored him and bolted for the gate. He could sense multiple full-grown demogorgons approaching them, probably three, as well as a handful of demodogs. They were getting closer fast. There was no way Steve was going to beat them to the gate with Billy's added weight to carry.
He scanned his surroundings. About 100 feet ahead of them was a large clearing. If Steve could get there, he'd at least be able to fight the hoard with a clear line of sight. He sprinted toward it as he felt the pursuers approaching.
Steve dropped Billy to the ground. Billy's eyes went wide as his limited ears finally picked up on the noises of the demogorgons.
"Shit," he muttered. He stood up, gripping the nail bat.
"Stand with your back to me," Steve said. "Swing as hard as you can whenever they come at you." Dread crept through his veins. He didn't want to lose Billy.
As the first demogorgon crashed into the clearing, Steve unfurled his head and squeezed out his claws. The demogorgon darted straight for Steve. Steve dealt with it easily with a swipe from his claws, knocking it to the side with a gaping wound in its abdomen. It wasn't dead, but that would slow it down considerably.
Steve was stronger and faster than the demogorgons. Taking on three would usually be no problem for him. But adding Billy into the mix was really going to fuck with his methods.
He felt Billy swing his bat at a demodog as the second demogorgon rushed Steve. He tried the same move on this one, but it dodged and swiped at Steve with its own claws. Steve took the hit, not wanting to interfere with Billy's fight by moving back to dodge. Pain seared through his abdomen as the claws tore his skin, but he knew it would heal fast. Demo scratches and bites never stuck around for long on his body.
He feinted with his claws again then lunged for the demogorgon's neck with his mouth as it dodged his claws. He sank his teeth into the meat there and tore, pulling a large amount of circulatory system back out with him. The demogorgon fell to the ground, twitching as it bled out.
Billy grunted behind him as a demodog yelped. The final demogorgon circled around in an attempt to go for Billy instead of Steve. That wouldn't do. Steve launched himself at the demogorgon, abandoning Billy in favor of taking this monster down before it got to him.
Steve scuffled with the demogorgon, taking a few more scratches and one nasty bite before he managed to latch onto its neck. He felt several demodogs piling up on his back, biting and scratching. Good, that meant they weren't going for Billy. He ripped out the demogorgon's throat, then grabbed the two demodogs off his back and threw them into the trees. He heard them yelp, then flee into the trees.
He turned back to Billy. He could sense one final demodog circling Billy as the other man waved the bat in front of him. The demodog lunged for Billy, wrenching its jaws open just as Steve reached him.
Steve gripped the last demodog around the head just before its jaws snapped shut on Billy's neck. He shut its mouth and continued to squeeze, increasing pressure with his huge, clawed hands. He kept going until the entire conical head popped beneath his hands in a startling explosion of gore. It sprayed across Billy's face and the front of his body, coating him in blood and brain matter and bits of flesh.
Billy sputtered, spitting chunks of flesh out of his mouth. "Fucking ew," he muttered, wiping a hand across his face.
Steve surveyed the scene. Two demodogs lay dead at Billy's feet in addition to the last one that Steve had killed. The wounded demogorgon was long gone. There were no surviving demodogs in the area.
Steve drew in the petals of his head, but kept his claws unsheathed. "Did you get bit?" Steve asked, once he had a human mouth again.
Billy shook his head. He was covered in gore, but Steve hoped it was mostly demo-blood.
"Let's get out of here," Steve said. He'd done what he came here to do - cleared the area around the floating gate of creatures before they could make their way into Hawkins. They needed to get back before the gate closed. No one had been able to figure out why these floating gates kept appearing, but they never stayed open for more than a day. Steve tried to only spend two hours tops on the inside, to make sure he didn't get stuck.
Steve couldn't decipher the look on Billy's face, but after what he had just seen Steve do, it couldn't mean anything good. He'd get Billy back to safety and make sure to take care of any of his wounds before Billy inevitably broke up with him.
Billy followed Steve silently to the gate and back into Hawkins.

When Billy Hargrove had first moved in Steve thought he was stuck up, but after getting to know him a bit more through playing sports together and going to see him at his job and vice versa he felt Billy wasnât too terrible.
Steve opened his locker to find a note twirling through the air, he reached out and grabbed it with a grin. He opened it up to find it was from Billy.
Hey meet me at Lovers Lake 2night see you there. BH
Steve felt his heart beating quickly, that was a good sign, he had started to form a crush on Billy for a while now and so he was hoping that this would be the start of something between the two of them. Their friendship had started out slow, but once they started to actually hang out their bond began to form.Â
Steve sighed knowing he wouldnât see Billy at school that day, they had no classes together and gym was canceled for the last few days of school. He went through his classes daydreaming about what would happen between them at the lake.Â
Billy was doing the same, going from class to class hoping he would see Steve and make sure he got his note, but he could only hope he showed up.Â
Steve had been more welcoming then some when he moved in and he was great with kids, it helped him when he needed someone to watch Max. He knew he came off wrong sometimes, and was a bit aggressive when it came to someone pissing him off. He blamed it on his father, but he knew he could be nicer, and Steve was helping him be a better and kinder person.Â
Billy had it all planned out, he was going to confess his love for Steve at Lovers Lake and hope that he felt the same way.Â
Steve pulled up to the lake after an hour of changing his clothes and doing his hair. He wanted to look perfect for Billy, Robin had laughed at him and said he was acting worse than a beauty queen at a pageant but he needed to make sure he looked presentable. Â
Steve looked around and spotted Billyâs car, he hoped he hadnât been waiting long. There hadnât been a time on the note.Â
Steve walked out towards the lake and smiled as he spotted Billy. The blonde was sitting on a blanket, tossing rocks into the dark water. Billyâs head turned at the snap of a twig, his stoic face twisted to a smile. He stood up quickly, nearly tripping over his own feet. âHey, you came.â
âOf course I did. You asked, I came.â
Billy felt his face growing hot, and Steve couldnât help but smile at how pink his cheeks were. Billy looked across the water trying not to ignore how warm he felt. âThank you.â
âFor what?â Steve asked, his nose scrunched.Â
âThat you came, I just you know⊠Didnât know if you would come.â
Steve smiled softly. âOf course I wanted to come, you mean a lot to me Billy.â
Billyâs eyes widened. âI do?â
âOf course you do,â Steve smiled, the two walked to the blanket Billy had set out.
âWell, Steve, uhm⊠I- You mean a lot to me too⊠Which is why I asked you to come here. I- Steve I love you.âÂ
Steveâs eyes widened in surprise, before they softened. âYou do?âÂ
Billy was staring down at him, his eyes twinkling with hope. His stomach was in knots, his palms were sweaty. All he wanted was for him to love him back.
Steve grabbed his hands with a wide smile. âI love you too, I really do.â
Billy sighed in relief, bringing his lips to his. They pressed against one another, before Billy lowered Steve on his back. Steve continued to kiss back, before he felt Billyâs hand running up his top.
âBillyâŠâ
âIf you donât want me to do this, I will stop.â Billy whispered to him. âWhatever you want.â
Steve grinned into the kiss returning it with soft breaths of excitement, ever since he had met Billy this was all he could think of. Billy ran his hands through Steveâs well kept hair. âYouâre perfect, you know that right?âÂ
Steve couldnât help but feel himself blush deeply. Billy straddled him, pinning him to the floor as he continued to kiss him. The sound of the lake calming in the night.Â
âI love you Steve Harrington, I want to take you with me back to California when we graduate.â
Steve couldnât help but groan against his lips. He wanted to go anywhere that Billy wanted to be. He was on cloud nine. âWant to skinny dip with me?â
Billyâs brain nearly went haywire. âYes⊠I do.â
The two were quick, pulling at one another's clothes with quick succession. Steveâs top flew, landing on a branch. Billy was pretty sure one of his shoes ended up in the lake but he could care less. All he wanted was to spend this moment with Steve, he wanted to see him in all of his glory but all he truly cared for was being his. All he wanted was Steve.
Billy picked Steve up in his arms, Steve yelped in surprise as Billy started to rush towards the water with him securely in his arms.
âBilly.. Wait B-Billy!â
Billy laughed as he tossed Steve into the water, he landed with a splash. Fish swam away quickly at the sudden disturbance. The water rippled around them as Steve resurfaced. Billy grinned as Steve tossed his hair back. âMy hairâŠâ
âYouâre in the lake Stevie, not modeling.â
âI could be.â Steve teased as he leaned against a rock. Billy felt his stomach twisting, god was Steve handsome. Steve leaned into him as he swam towards him. Kissing him softly. âIâm yours Hargrove.â
âGood, because I love you⊠I really love you.â
Steve kissed him softly as the moonlight cascading around them, the lake was their little slice of heaven at that moment. This moment was theirs.
I can finally post my gift fic for @fkinkindagauche for @harringrove-summer-exchange! I'm going to keep the fic in Ao3 because I really hate cross-posting. The fic is complete and will update every other day.
Gauche is such an inspiration as a writer and good friend that I felt so much pressure for this one because I really wanted it to be the best thing I've ever written. Thank you @alwaysurvalentine for beta-ing the entire thing. And @stervrucht and @runraerun for giving a detailed look over the first chapter to make sure I was on the right track.
This was heavily inspired by Ster's There's a gap where we meet, and Gauche's own As Is. The beginning hook for this fic was inspired by @aggressiveviking's fic, Petplay (thank you for giving me permission!)
If you liked the amount of hurt / comfort here, you may also like Valentine's i'll wait without you
This fic is explicit, WC: 10k (3 chapters)

Tommy wonât shut up about the stupid keg. Billy lets the words float in one ear and out the other. Heâs got more important shit to pay attention to, like Steve fucking Harrington, former king of Hawkins College. The guy fell pretty badly. Thatâs what happens when you lose a fight to some art loser then apologize to him. But he still has his looks and his money. Thereâs every chance Steve might claw his way back on the throne. Then itâd be Billy eating alone, pretending he canât hear the stupid shit the team says about him.
Fortunately, Steve is having a bad night. His stupid girlfriend is sloshed. Heâs following her around like a whiny puppy, occasionally shoving himself in between her and other party-goers so she doesnât get knocked over. Other students continue to gyrate awkwardly around them.
His carefully styled hair is coming apart in a sweaty mess. He still looks annoyingly good. The messy mop goes well with the tight-fitting black shirt and black blazer. Heâs frowning in a way that accentuates his sharp nose and large eyes. The pout emphasizes the plush of his lips.
And sure, Billy knows (heâs got mirrors) that heâs objectively better looking. But heâs going to have to keep up his game if he wants to keep the crown away from someone like Steve Harrington. Billy watches Harrington pull his chick into a bathroom and swallows down the insane urge to march in there with them. What the fuck would he even do? He takes another gulp of the horrible concoction these hicks call a drink then glares at the bathroom door.
He doesnât have to glare very long. Harrington stumbles out after just a few minutes with glassy eyes. Heâs swaying even though heâs only nursed a cup throughout this stupid party. Billy tracks him as he struggles to leave. He nearly gets knocked on his ass several times. Doesnât even bother to dodge when someone spills an entire cup of whatever down his tight shirt.
He must have taken something in the bathroom. Whatever that was is messing him up bad . As much as Billy hates his guts, heâs not going to let Harrington drive home in that condition. What if he dies? Then Billyâs throne would be uncontested, uninteresting.
Harrington is nearly at the door.
âHey! Watch!-- Oh, sorryâŠâ some nobody trails off as Billy shoves them hard in his hurry to get to Harrington before he escapes. It takes a few elbows and even knees, but the crowd finally gets the message and parts, leaving him with a clear path to Harrington.
âSneaking out Amigo?â Billy yells out over the music. Everyone is staring. He paints on a smirk and saunters forward. Harrington wheels around to glare. He looks⊠sad and tired and done. Itâs kind of ruining the effect Billy had been hoping for.
âYeah,â Harrington says, rolling his eyes. He turns around and grabs for the door knob. Billy jogs over gracefully and grabs Harringtonâs firm biceps. He squeezes.
âWhat the fuck is your problem Hargrove?â Harrington hisses.
âItâs rude to leave without saying goodbye to the host,â Billy says lamely.
âFor fuckâs sake,â Harrington mutters. He raises his head.
âOy! Tina! Iâm leaving to watch paint dry because thatâs more entertaining than watching you assholes dance badly. You good with that?â
âUh, sure? Thanks for coming?â Tina squeaks.
Billy squeezes Harrington harder. âYouâre not leaving after insulting my friends Harrington,â he growls. Thereâs a smattering of cheers and whoops.
âOr what? Youâll get your lackies to beat me up?â Harrington scoffs. âHagan throws like a girl, and broke his fingers the last time he tried, soââ
âI donât need anyone else,â Billy says, âyou think youâre better than me? Prove it.â Billy thumps his chest and points to the keg Hagan wouldnât shut up about all night.
Harrington scoffs.
âWhat? You scared? Keg King?â
Harringtonâs eyes narrow. âOh I can beat you easy,â he says, âbut why should I waste my time?â
Billy takes a step into Harringtonâs space to assert dominance. He immediately regrets it. The fuckerâs blocker had worn off over the night. Billy gets a sudden rush of his sweet omega scentâpeach, apples, sunshine, a little bit of pine to counteract the sweetness. Even the sour tang of his anger smells so good it makes his knees buckle. Shit. Fuck. Focus. âHow about I sweeten the deal a bit then?â
âSweeten how?â Harrington asks, giving Billy a few seconds to turn his brain back on.
âWhoever loses has to be the otherâs bitch,â Billy says with a wink, âfor a week.â
Harringtonâs lips curl in disdain. âYouâre on.â
