SQUIRM X PARENTAL!READER (platonic!!!)
A.n: EEEEEE TYSM FOR REQUESTING THIS!! I had a lot of fun writing it! I love family dynamics sm^^ sorry its kinda short, I haven't been feeling 100% these past few days, I still hope you find it well :3 please enjoy!
-lets say you're a handler for brightneys and squirms floor, almost another librarian type figure
-brightney is responsible and stable enough to take care of herself, you do make a effort to check on her though
-the main thing you were worried when you first started working here was squirm, Arthur did warn you about how shy he could be, along with sensitive and....destructive..
-and like Mr Walton said, the piller was a shy one, when you first started working there he hid a lot, either under the cushions in his reading nook or upon one of the bookshelves
-the first time you had a proper interaction is when you caught him eating from a bookshelf, pages all over the floor, the book worm froze....before bursting out in tears, and running off to go hide
-you found him sobbing in a pile of quilts, curled up on himself, he very quietly chocked with those big wet eyes
" p-please don't be mad at -m-me...hic...i-i can't help i-it....sniffle... "
-your heart ached at the sight, he was so distressed and sad, you tried to reassure that you weren't mad and you won't tell anyone, before taking out a old note book
-The thing was completely full of random junk, scripples, ect, nothing to write home about, so why let it go to waste rotting in your cabinet?
-His head poked out of the blankets when you handed over the book, and he shakily took it, looking at you for a few moments...
-and hurrying back in, sobbing noticeably quieting into the usual dim sniffles
-squirm....really appreciated it, it made him feel better, you made him feel better..
-after that day, he didn't hide from you as much, acted a lot less skittish, may be caught wondering around where you were, almost following you like a lost puppy
-sometimes if he catches you down reading, he'll take a pillow from his reading nook and sit next to you with his own book, wanting to spend time with you
-other times he sits down like a cat on your lap, enjoying when you give his head little pats while he munches on some paper, spoiled ass bug/af
-if another toon makes him upset or if he gets too anxious, he immediately goes to you for comfort, one time he went running to you, then dashed to be behind you so he can hide from shrimpo
-you had to shoo away the angry shrimp before squirm felt safe enough to stop Clinging to your leg
-he may be on the clingier side, Always wanting some of your attetion, I see squirm being a bit of a mama's boy (mama in the most gender neutral way I can say for this)
-if you're too busy, he will wait on your chair til you get a break, which is a funny sight in all honesty, seeing a worm trying to sit like a person in a comfy velvet chair
-holds your favorite book as he waits, no matter how much it may tempt him, he wouldn't dare eat your favorite book, hes keeping it safe til you get back
-if he did one day accidentally take a bit out of your book, hes crushed, you don't see him for The whole day, the poor piller is stuck in a chronic state of guilt so hides from you, when you find him he hugs you and crys, saying he's very sorry (you forgive him and just buy another one duh)
-Likes to draw pictures of you two, its pretty peaceful for him and loves seeing your reaction to getting them, he got very Happy when you told him you put them on the staff rooms wall
-no matter what, this sad little worm toon is too attached to you to let go, he loves you like a parent he never really had and it makes his day when you read him a story to wind down, hope you don't mind a maincoon sized worm on your tale half of your day!
