Monster in the lake
Billy Hargrove never really liked Hawkins, not when he first moved there, not in the winter or spring, but when summer came, he found a favorite spot with Lover's Lake at night, when the sky was so full of stars, it almost reminded him of home and the sky above the ocean. Billy also enjoyed the quiet, so whenever other people appeared, he found joy in scaring them away to the point that a rumor started going through Hawkins, about a monster in the lake.
When Steve Harrington heard of it, he got curious because it sure didn't sound like any monster he knew or heard of and when he got there and found Billy, the quiet nights were over for California's hottest import. Well, not really, because Steve enjoyed it too and they started to meet every night for a swim, looking at the stars, some fun and maybe even a little more.
New rumors spread like wildfire, about the monster now being twice as big and it may or may not have eaten Steve Harrington.

Summary:
Billy smirks at his reflection as he adjusts the hat over his curls and fiddles with the little red neckerchief attached to the collar his shirt. Heās honestly not entirely sure if the outfit will traumatise Steve or turn him on, but Billy has seen the way his ass fills out the little blue shorts.
Heās totally banking on the latter.
It wasnāt even hard to get a hold of. Billy had sauntered into Scoops Ahoy, made eyes at the girl behind the counter while sucking on a sample spoon and the uniform was good as his. The same successful method heād used to lock Steve down, gaining himself a hot new boyfriend and as much free ice cream that he could stomach the summer of ā85.
Steve taking billy on a date and pulling out all the stops. He brings billy flowers and billy is so stunned he canāt say anything bad about it because no oneās gotten him flowers before and he didnāt even know it was something he wanted. Steve holds the door open for Billy while getting in his car and Billy does make a joke about that but Steve doesnāt take the bait and just gives him a cheesy grin. He pays for Billys movie ticket and has them sit in the back row of this horror movie. And Billy loves horror movies, so does Steve but Billy finds himself wishing he was scared so he could get closer to Steve. Steve ends up grabbing Billys hand and entwining their fingers anyway which makes it hard for Billy to grab popcorn but he doesnāt even care. They go to the diner for burgers and milkshakes after and Billy canāt stop the grin when Steve opens the car door for him again. The date feels so easy and natural that Billy doesnāt really get why all the other dates heās been on feel so forced. The diner is so casual and nice and Steve knows exactly what Billy wants and gets them fries to share between them and their hands keep brushing against each others when they reach at the same time. Steve keeps grinning at him, asking him questions in a low voice and catches Billyās ankle with his own underneath the table. Steve pays for the food, giving Billy a wink and then theyāre back in Steves car. Billy doesnāt want this date to end and Steve pulls over before they get back to Billys place and gives him a kiss. Billy doesnāt even kiss back it was so quick and it felt so good, so right. Steve laughs at Billys stunned expression and then leans in again and this time Billy kisses back. Eventually they continue to Billys place and Billy really doesnt want to go inside, doesnāt want this date to be over. He doesnāt turn around until heās at the door and he finds Steve still parked out front, waving like a dork and Billy gives him a shy wave. Steve holds up a hand and makes the universal phone signal and Billy blushes and turns around immediately to go inside. Steve does call him the next morning, says he has a great time and wants to know if Billy wants to go out again.
No because Steve and Billy are always flirting with each other, even years into their relationship Billy still likes to corner his boyfriend with a leering grin on his face while Steve rolls his eyes as he wrestles with his own smile because Billy is making him blush and heās twenty-five he shouldnāt be blushing still!! But Billy eats it right up, loves that he can still make Steve turn pink like this, he just wants to eat him up ā so he goes in for a kiss, the two of them with half-lidded eyes locked as they grin into a teasing little kiss, their lips not even in the right shape for it but they donāt care because theyāre so in love and gross and canāt really handle the fact that theyāre probably going to be together forever
