harry and y/n argue after harry comes home 4 hours late.

it was another night of sitting alone. Harry said he’d be straight home from the studio but once again I’m putting his dinner plate in the fridge and blowing out the candles to eat alone.

He’s been pulled aside by a friend or coworker again for the 4th time this week to hang out or get drinks. He’s usually home at 6pm and showers me with the love and affection we’ve had for years but he’s been so distant lately.

When it’s 11pm and there’s still no sign of harry I begin to worry. But when the door handle finally turns at a quarter past 12, I just stare straight at the door in the same slumped position on the couch.

“Oh! Love, you scared me. Didn’t expect you to be awake.” He stated while slipping his shoes off by the door.

No response.

“Everything okay? Are you ill?” He asked worriedly. “Nope. I’m fine.” I stated bluntly. “Don’t look fine..” he said while taking a seat next to me. “How much longer are you going to do this?” I questioned, finally taking in his appearance. His brown curls were messy from running his fingers through them and his eyes were slightly baggy from tiredness. “what do you mean?” he asked confused, furrowing his eyebrows slightly in confusion. “This! The coming home 4+ hours late without a call. I was worried for Christ’s sake!” I said standing up and throwing my arms up in frustration.

“Thought you were okay with me going out?” He asked, standing as well with eyebrows still furrowed and his eyes set on every move you made.

“I was! Until it turned into a nightly routine and coming home at 12am!” I raised my voice slightly.

“Cmon, you knew this was my job when we started dating Y/N!” Harry raised his voice slightly as well.

“I knew the studio and coming home at 6 was part of the job. I didn’t realize that in years, drinks and coming home at 12am were added to the contract!” I shouted.

“Well get used to it, you’re so clingy lately. Just need some time to myself for once! It’s not all about you!” Harry shouted back equally as loud.

there it was. the sentence that broke me. My heart sunk deep in my chest and tears pooled in my eyes. he was using my biggest weakness against me, he knew how insecure I was about being too annoying or clingy.

It was then I noticed Harry walking towards the door with his keys in his hands. “If you walk out that door, we are done.” my broken and shaky voice stated. His actions came to a halt and he turned to see my broken state; face softening instantly. “What?” he whispered. “If you leave, we are over. I can’t take this anymore with you harry.” i said, a few tears escaping my eyes.

His face softens at the sight of my tears and he takes a few steps forward to reach me. He sits me down on the couch and kneels in front of me, taking my face in his hands. “no, baby, tell me you don’t want that right?” He asked with soft eyes gazing into my glossy ones.

“god no harry but i just feel like I’m in this by myself now, you’re never here and I can’t take it.” I sighed.

“love, I promise, I’ll stop. I won’t go out with anyone after work and I’ll come straight home, maybe you’ll be able to stop by the studio on Friday? we can do whatever you want when I come home. dinner, cuddles, movies, you name it. just please, don’t give up on us. i love you too much to walk out that door.” He said still staring in your eyes.

“i love you so much harry styles.” I smiled slightly, practically lunging into his arms, burrying my face in the crook of his neck and inhaling his musky scent.

“i love you too, Y/N.” He rasped in the crook of my neck, holding me securely.

after changing and getting into bed, our bodies press together and harry holds me tightly. I fell asleep to the sound of his heartbeat and feel of his hands holding me so closely, never letting me get so close to slipping away again.

“So you’re not gonna talk to me? Fine by me then.”

Harry huffed, stubbornly crossing his arms across his chest, but still sitting down on the opposite far end of the couch you’re sitting on.

The silent treatment being given to Harry by you, came from when he forgot to pick you up from somewhere since you didn’t bring money since you told him to, completely slipping from his mind that made you walk home in the pouring rain.

Besides that you were intentionally giving him the silent treatment, you didn’t feel like talking since you felt your throat come sore, the heatness radiating making your body easily come cold.

“Please talk to me,” he pouted, sprawling his figure all over you, burying his face on the crook of your chest.

“What can I do to get you to talk?” Harry frowned, talking against your arm, making him look totally defeated.

“Get me medicine.”

“Why — what?”

He furrowed his eyebrows, his hand hurriedly pressing against your neck.

“You’re hot.”

“Thanks for noticing.”

He cussed under his breath, rushing downstairs to get you fever medicine he’s familiar with, coming back up seconds later.

He poured you the right dosage, giving you the glass of water that’s already set in the coffee table in front of you.

“You talked though.”

You narrowed your eyes at him, pulling your knees closer to you chest, making his heart ache, hugging you afterwards.

He hummed, smirking from what he’s about to say that he knows would tease you but would still give him enough clearance to be forgiven by you.

“Not gonna push it, love. I’ll just nudge it roughly.
