Regarding recent events...
I know I haven’t made a personal statement regarding Hartley’s tweets, but I feel like it’s time I did.
To start: I do not condone, agree with or sympathise with Hartley’s old tweets. I was actually shocked to see what he wrote because I never imagined those words coming from him. I always saw him as a funny, weird guy who cared about people and animals (especially the animals, because I could relate to that), who made me laugh with his dumb posts and who portayed my favourite character on a show I’ve been watching for ages. I did not expect him to say any of these things, whether they were meant as a joke or not.
Second, though saddened by the news that Hartley won’t be joining The Flash for season 7 (or onward), I do understand the decision to fire him. Yes, I’m gonna be sad to not see Hartley portray Ralph anymore, but with everything that’s going on in the world at this moment, I get that they can’t employ someone who, even if it were in the past, doesn’t advocate for equality between races and gender, especially with so many POCs (and WOCs of course) on the show.
Lastly, and I know this is probably the least important thing to get out of all of this, I want to let you all know that I will not be going forward with this blog. This isn’t only because of what has happened in the last few weeks, though that’s a big part of it, but for personal reasons as well. I feel like for a while now, I haven’t been able to keep up with this page in the way that I should or wanted to. This combined with recent events tells me it’s time to retire this blog.
I want to say a big thank you to everyone who’s supported me on this page, to the people who I’ve spoken to,...
Thank you!

What happened?
For whatever reason, people dug up a bunch of Hartley’s old tweets (some almost 10 years old). These tweets, though meant jokingly, could be seen as offensive, misogynistic and sexist. Because of a bad decision Hartley made years ago, a lot of people decided that he had to be cancelled and that he should be fired from The Flash.
The Instagram post was Hartley’s reply and apology to the entire situation.
hartleysawyer: My words, irrelevant of being meant with an intent of humor, were hurtful, and unacceptable. I am ashamed I was capable of these really horrible attempts to get attention at that time. I regret them deeply.
This was not acceptable behavior. These were words I threw out at the time with no thought or recognition of the harm my words could do, and now have done today.
I am incredibly sorry, ashamed and disappointed in myself for my ignorance back then. I want to be very clear: this is not reflective of what I think or who I am now.
Years ago, thanks to friends and experiences who helped me to open my eyes, I began my journey into becoming a more responsible adult - in terms of what I say, what I do, and beyond. I've largely kept that journey private, and this is another way that I have let so many down. I still have more work to do.
But how I define myself now does not take away the impact of my words, or my responsibility for them. I am very sorry.
Are you related to jim carey
I’m not sure if you mean Hartley or me personally, but I can honestly say that neither of us are related to Jim Carrey! :P

hartleysawyer: We can all help. If you’re stuck home, now may be the perfect time to foster a dog. By fostering, you save lives! Due to the hardship facing many families right now, sadly, folks may have to give up their family dog.

@pawsforlifek9 is doing great work simplifying the fostering process! Check them out and foster a dog if you can. Also doing great work and need our help right now: @angelcitypits (the rescue Maggie came from!) @wattsproject (Thunder’s rescue!) and @standupforpitsfoundation
# The @laanimalservices shelters (and shelters around the country) are operating w/ skeleton crews and no volunteers. This means: dogs aren’t getting out for exercise, interaction, training. This also means that adoptions are down - and as shelters become overpopulated, euthanasia becomes a more and more real scenario.

# — stay home (I’m in my car waiting for Maggie at the vet!) and practice social distancing! — call family, friends, neighbors - check in! Especially if they are elderly. — if you can, donate to local food banks.
