It's a Wonderful Life Ch. 1: New in Town

Rus doesn't know the first thing about farming, but he knows if he spends one more second at his soul-sucking corporate job in the city he will probably kill someone and then himself.

He's willing to try anything once.

Notes:

Heavily inspired by all the farming Sim games (Harvest Moon ofc, also Story of Seasons, Stardew Valley, Coral Island)

This follows some of the familiar paths you've seen in such games and will end up being a harem of Papyri for our main character Rus lol. As the story progresses I might take player suggestion what Rus does next or who he romances the most, I think it would be really fun to see everyone's ideas so feel free to tell me in the comments everything you wanna see and I might use it!!

Characters we meet and their roles will be in the end notes of each chapter. I can also make notes about likes/dislikes and stuff if you guys want.

Heavily based also on my own HarvestTale, which has always been an undertale/farming sim crossover idea. Visit the Tumblr for it! @harvesttale

Only difference is I've taken Stretch and made him the MC instead of his usual role in town. Some other things have been tweaked a little and I added Wine and Coffee.

As some of you know, we took in a teen last year, and now I'm trying to raise some funds to give her a good birthday this weekend!

Money has been tight with all of us sick in January, plus hubby being out of work until just recently and me having to search for a new job and hours being reduced at the current one, so we are currently barely scraping by. Muffet and Grillby are a married couple that visit with their traveling Coffee cart and set up shop in the market every day until 4, except Sundays.

When you expand the town you have an option to set them up in a permanent building, moving them into town. Their Café will then be open 6-4 every day including Sundays.

Save Garnet's Knees!

Hello everyone,

Some of you may know and some may not, but Garnet (our 1 and half year old calico) is suffering from knee dislocation.

We took her to the specialist today and found that it's in both knees and appears to be genetic, the divet where the patella sits on both back knees seems to be too shallow to keep it in place. They need to deepen the divets and pin everything in place to heal properly.

This is going to cost somewhere around $4800 PER LEG. We don't have that kind of money but also her knees will just constantly dislocate and she would be in pain a lot.

We have set up a GoFundMe if anyone is interested in helping us reach our financial goals to get her knees fixed. For now it is just pain meds and keeping her comfy and not jumping.

Are there any funny Easter eggs? Like how in Stardew, you can find objects lying around if you look in the right bush. Are there any things that happen only on specific days or times/weather conditions?

We'll go with specifically weather stuff! We can do more specific Easter eggs on another post (sorry I know that was your main question!)

I was checking out the gift post reactions for Sans and Papyrus. Why does Papyrus dislike dewdrop flowers?

He's terribly allergic, unfortunately, and the things are already everywhere outside and in every bouquet or perfume.

It's a hassle to keep them out of the restaurant even without you bringing them in and giving them to him directly!

How about the Swapfell boys in HarevstTale?

The Farmer Sans thing was were deeeeefinitely a big factor in me wanting to find my old work. I really wish I’d stuck with HarvestTale longer at first! But now is good, too, can’t blame myself for abandoning some things two years ago lol

The Swapfell Bros are a big of a mystery. You hear their names around town through all of Spring and Summer, but they don’t actually appear until Fall 1, wherein they open up a shop you had assumed was an abandoned building. Black sells his worldy items there, and Mutt is commonly found lounging around in there, draped on some sort of fancy couch or cushion.

Black is prickly but professional. He’s more than happy to tell stories from his travels around the world, though, and there’s an option to listen to one once a day. At Friendship ❤❤❤ he offers you “Best Customer Discounts” and his stories begin to feel more like bragging. Maybe even…flirting?

Mutt’s a flirt from the get-go, and sometimes he’ll request crazy things just to see if you’ll get it for him. If he isn’t at the shop you can find him sleeping in the wishing tree, where everyone ties their wishes to the tree. He gives you cheesy pickup lines related to wishes but never tells you what his wish really is until ❤❤❤.

Papyrus for crops! He loves fresh crops! He’ll often reward you with a dish made with it every couple of times you gift him crops.

Red is a dog-lover. Boss loves cats. Blue is terrified of both but will fawn over baby chicks. If you bring a chicken anywhere near Stretch he will actively run away from you.

Do you suppose that HarvestTale would copy HM's or SoS idea of adding children to the married skelle-human couple, either a son or daughter, and might add in those hybrid kids with different appearences, depending on whom you marry?

I definitely think so!

In order to have a child, you’ll have to be married/bonded, and you’ll have to remember to kiss your spouse every morning for a whole season. After a while he will start to say something about the local kids, and express interest in having his own.

Then you can venture to Toriel’s Tree of Life and receive the Special Wishing Paper. Present it to your spouse and they will ask if they can write anything they want. You say yes, and they will write “I wish for a child with the one I love” and you can tie it to the Wishing Tree when you are ready for that step. From then on, any time your husband suggests “quality time” when you get in bed has a chance to result in a child!

In the HarvestTale AU, I'm guessing that Dr. Green or Toriel would be in charge of handling childbirths. But who would handle the wedding ceremonies?

Toriel oversees both, as the Goddess of Spring, Summer, and Life. But only in Spirit! Green is there to midwife, and surprisingly Stretch is the only one in town who is ordained to Minister a wedding!

Is there anything like the harvest sprites/harvest goddess?

Hmm yeah, I think it would be like, Toriel and Asgore (a sort of Oberon and Titania vibe) and all the seven souls children are their pixies/fairies.

Toriel/Titania

Goddess of Spring and Summer

Has the most children/sprites, color themed after their soul trait colors: Red (yes, Frisk), Orange, Yellow, Purple. These sprites help the flowers grow, oversee birth and mating, ensure good crop growth, and cause general Spring/Summer mischief.

Benevolent and kind, goddess of fertility and marriage, goddess of flowers and seeds.

Asgore/Oberon

God of Autumn and Winter

Has the Blue, Green, and Teal sprites, who help keep yearly crops safe during winter, keep the animals warm and oversee hibernation, and cause general winter mischief.

Steadfast God that doesn’t bend easily, god of hard work, root vegetables, harvest, and prosperity.
