“You might not have a good relationship with them, but what do you know, your friends might.” She nodded. “Thank you for understanding.”
“You`re really paranoid, aren’t you?”
“I know you wouldn’t.” She smiled. Elise would trust Harvey with her life any day so she was sure he wouldn’t spread anything around. “But it still sucks to know I did something stupid, you know?” They’ve arrived at the earlier mentioned adress and the girl thanked the driver, paying him what she had to. “I didn’t ever share any of the videos I’ve had of you, Harvey, and you know that.”
“Yeah, I know. Welcome to the last six months of my life.” He chuckled A lot of people had found out the shitty things he had done when he was on the A team. A lot of those things had been stupid too. No one held them over his head. Harvey paid the other half of the bill, stepped out of the car and walked around to open Elise’s door. “I know. I trust you.”
“Don’t worry. Didn’t see anything.”
“I’m Rae. Rae Wells. –Just don’t tell anyone in case the cops come around searching for me.” She shook her head, getting the bag strap onto her shoulder. “I won’t take it. There’s no use in even trying to make me do that, Harvey Mitchell.”
“It’s not like I’ve got a great relationship with the cops anyway. -- Well, I tried. Not gonna force you.”
“You might’ve missed it, but I don’t like the feeling when I have to watch the videos and photos from last night’s party that I don’t remember a bit of.” She laughed, holding her wallet on the ready to pay the driver afterwards.
“A lot of these videos are just for me. I wouldn’t spread around drunk Elise.” He chuckled, running his hands through his hair. And he wasn’t lying. There were a lot of secrets he had kept over the years. “Besides, you had your fair share of videos of me.”
“I’ll do what it take. I can’t just… Use someone I just met.”
“It’s not using if I’m offering it. If it helps.. My name’s Harvey. Harvey Mitchell.”
“Well I’m not getting drunk without you. Wouldn’t be fair.” She smiled as she sat down into the cab, straightening her dress after she did.
“Come on, it’d be funny.” He chuckled as he closed the door, walking around the car and sliding back into the car. He closed his door, gave the driver the address and sat back against his seat. “I’ve missed watching drunk Elise.”
“I c-can’t,” she shook her head, disagreeing to take the money. “I’ll find a way to get out of this hole myself.”
“It’s not like I’m asking you to kill someone.. And in this town, the only way you’re getting out of this hole on your own.. Trust me, you don’t want to do that.”
‘’Bummer, right?’’
“We’ll figure out some other way to make someone pay.”
“Aw come on…” The blonde put her jacket on and walked to the door. “Let’s hope this one will be worth all the time I spent making myself look pretty.”
“You’re always pretty.” He told her honestly, opening the cab door for her. He leaned against the door, watching her as she walked up to the car. “And yeah, to answer your question. I am planning on staying sober.. I get the feeling I’m gonna want to remember tonight.”
‘’You and me both Harv. I wanted to make him suffer.’’
“Well, someone got to it before us.”
The girl turned away, moving her glance aside. “It does. I’m not from here. My home’s far away and I barely have any money left.” She said, standing up from the corner she was pushed into before.
“-- Well, I don’t want to see you get mugged again. I can’t have people thinking I’m a pushover.” He sighed and took his wallet out, handing her a few twenties. “Stay in a motel room tonight.”
‘’He probably is. He deserves to die after what happened.’’
“I just wanted to be the one to do it.”
“I’ll knock next time.”
“So, what can I do for you?”
“Heck, I could talk you into going to the other side of the world with me if I wanted to.” She laughed lightly, watching his hand as he adjusted her dress and giving a small nod as a thank you. “–I can’t promise anything, but I’ll try.”
“I’m not that easy to convince, White. You’d have to put some serious work into convincing me to go that far.” He teased, giving her another smile. After that he stepped back, checking his phone. “Cab’s here. We’re getting real close to crunch time.”
‘’Austin’s gone missing? Hm, I’m not surprised. That’s the only highlight of my day.’’
“Honestly, I’m hoping he’s dead.”
