from last octobers PWR show.
From a Japanese #shamisen event I covered in for the #japaneseamericansocietyofgreateraustin a few months back.
from the SXSW Twin Peaks event.
A couple images from #peelanderz fest. Peelander Pink and Yellow. Taken with the X100 at Spiderhouse in Austin, TX.
it’s been a while since I’ve updated. This time its not a photo of mine but one of me, proposing to my lovely girlfriend at #c4ged a Nicolas Cage marathon in Austin TX. The image was part of the Alamo Drafthouse video package, I took a screen capture sharpened and fixed the colors.
A few “on/off the ropes” shots from my pro wrestler shoot with Party World Rasslin’. It’s funny I remember a few years back trying to get in connection with a local wrestling promotion and setting up a shoot with them, but scheduling conflicts always got in the way. This eccentric bunch definitely provide some unique imagery. I’ve shot events for them which I’ve posted in the past and of course their promotional card shots…but really this was a bit of my own selfish demand. I wanted simple captures of just them hanging off the ropes. I was a bit lucky the houselights got turned off due to another event at the venue, so I utilize my spare light and a 46 inch umbrella to get these, the ring was in darkness except for my lights and I was going to take advantage of that. Let’s just say that image from Aronofsky The Wrestler of Mickey Rourke pressed against the ropes and my childhood fascination with super heroes in the ring had an influence. I gave them a simple criteria show your character but you have to be on the ropes either in front, behind or through them. Be sure to check them out, and their upcoming event March 12th. http://www.pwr.website/
Destin was one of my first male models, more amusing that we were both friends back in film school before I became a photographer. I would say the easiest model I've ever worked with, or most inspiring. As a regular associate it was nice enough, we both had an appreciation for film and darker visual stimuli, as a model he brought with him a unique presense and a natural or should I say even unnatural comprehension of his posture for the camera. Shoots with Destin never took long, they were usually last minute invites to the studio because he happened to be in town. However they were alway very productive.
A few behind the scenes shots of me doing what I do. Usually taken by my various assistants over time. Sometimes it's okay for me to be in front of the camera...well as long as I'm also still behind a camera.
Throw back to an old series I did, obviously I had an interest in the themes of beauty and death…or maybe just every pretty girl I knew owned animal skulls. It's an interesting reminder of my style of photography a year ago.
Trading cardshoot for local wrestling promotion PWR. They are an interesting bunch of performers.

Marvel Zombies Spiderman shoot we did. I modeled this less after Marvel Zombies but more after an old issue of The Spectacular Spider-Man #148 - Night of the Living Ned. I think it came out well. It got darker than we expected. Special thanks to my model for digging his own grave and lying in the cold dirt. The price of art.
