hi. allegra stopitsgingertime speaking.
okay, so. my blog’s not back. i’m still working on getting it back, sending a ton of emails and reaching out to pretty much everyone in the social media world i know for help, but right now it’s looking like it might be incredibly difficult if not straight-up impossible. that just might be my current pessimism and anxiety speaking, but. whatever.
having to wade through the red tape of the corporate bureaucracy that is tumblr’s fucked-up copyright machine is slowly sucking my soul out, but i’m gonna get to the bottom of this if it kills me. i’ve spent five years on tumblr building up a fantastic community of friends and fans, growing as a person and as a creator and chronicling the entirety of my adolescence, from eighth grade all the way through freshman year of college, through likes, reblogs, and asks. if all of that is gone forever, felled in a single swoop by a soulless algorithm, then the action that tumblr took is tantamount to the non-consensual erasure of thousands of hours of work and art and love and effort. an absolutely horrific and unfair action, by any ethical standards.
i am a creator, an artist, and a professional, and i have just had a quarter of my entire life’s work unceremoniously deleted because of some electronic hiccup in a far-off server farm. tumblr claims they terminated my account because of a THIRD copyright violation, in accordance with their three-strikes policy. but i have only ever received ONE (1) strike— and that was the strike that brought my account down yesterday morning. their deletion of my account CONTRADICTS their own stated policy, and therefore, logically, should hold no weight.
if i can’t recover my blog through the frustrating and inadequate means offered to me through their labyrinthine support systems i may look into invoking legal action, but that’s a long way off. so for right now, it would be amazing if i could get some help from the internet at large on this— please tweet @tumblr with the hashtag #bringallegraback and my URL (stopitsgingertime) and send emails to [email protected] (not support!!!) with the subject line “#bringallegraback - stopitsgingertime’s account wrongfully deleted" or something similar (making sure to include both the hashtag and the url).
if i can drum up a lot of support and/or publicity, maybe a REAL PERSON at tumblr, not a mindless email-reply robot, will take notice, and i’ll be able to get back to doing what i do best and what i am basing my entire education and career off of—social media, blogging, and having a good time.
PLEASE REBLOG THIS POST TO GET THE WORD OUT! it would mean everything to me to have your support on this. thanks.
