AN: First fanfic of 2026 and it's a Takeru & Iori one. Sounds about right. Also, I've been wanting to do something with that middle image since I found it on Pinterest, and this fits perfectly
Iori didn't really like flowers.
He doesn't hate them, but he doesn't know why other people seem to like them so much.
They made Iori's nose itch and his throat feel all dry. When his mother got any, he would sneeze if he got too close.
When flowers grew in the school yard, the others would point out how Iori's eyes and nose got red and there was little Iori could do about it.
This caused Iori to just mostly ignore flowers.
He could keep his distance from the ones his mother bought, try to remember to take some over the counter allergy medicine and keep tissues on him.
Iori's friends like the flowers, though.
Miyako always dreams of getting flowers, and when she did get some she was over the moon. Hikari liked taking pictures of them, capturing the spring beauty in a single photo. Ken liked giving his mother flowers, as well as stopping to watch them to help clear his head.
Iori didn't really care, as long as his friends were happy and keeping the flowers away from him. Yet, one of his friends didn't seem keen on doing that.
"Takeru, what are you doing?" Iori asked.
Iori had mostly been ignoring Takeru, not that the other boy cared, as long as they were together both of them were happy.
They were just chilling in a small clearing near the high school, with both of them so busy it was hard to spend time together so Iori relished in this.
Yet, Takeru seemed to relish in something else.
He had gotten up a few minutes ago, Iori not even looking up from his book when he no longer felt Takeru's back against his.
When Takeru came back, Iori kept feeling him messing with his hair, and after a few times of Takeru's fingers against his hair, Iori wondered what Takeru could be doing.
"Putting flowers in your hair", Takeru answered.
Iori felt Takeru's fingers back in his hair, and that's when he remembered he and Takeru were in a field with a bunch of small daises everywhere. Iori could also feel his nose start to itch and his eyes water.
"Why are you putting flowers in my hair?" Iori asked. Iori moved his head back, far enough so he was looking up at the sky.
Takeru was leaning down to put the flowers in Iori's hairs, and he leaned down further so his face was closer to Iori's as his head hovered above Iori's.
"Because it's fun", Takeru said.
"Plus, you look adorable with flowers in your hair", Takeru added, smiling as he closed his eyes and tiled his head to the side.
Iori's cheeks turned pink, and he looked back down at his book. After a bit, Iori could feel Takeru start to put flowers in his hair again.
Iori could also feel his allergies start to show, well, worse than they were before.
Iori wasn't keen on spending the day here, but Takeru really wanted too and Iori always found it hard to deny Takeru. Especially when he seemed so happy about being in the flowers.
Iori moved his book away to his side, looking down at his lap where daisies were all between his legs.
Iori reached down, picking one of the daisies.
They were small flowers, a yellow center with a bunch of tiny white petals around it, and it smelt slightly sweet.
Iori could feel Takeru putting flowers all in his hair, but he could also feel how happy Takeru was about it. He remembered the smile on Takeru's face, and he was sure Takeru was smiling now.
Why Takeru was so happy, Iori didn't know, but he wasn't going to do anything about it. Not when something as simple as these flowers were making Takeru so happy.
Maybe this is because Takeru and Iori are my favorite Jogress Partners, but I don't understand how people don't get why they are perfect for each other, just like the other Jogress Partners.
It's not as clear, and they did deserve some more time together in 02, but Takeru and Iori weren't just put together because they were the last ones left. It doesn't go anywhere, which does midly annoy me, but Iori is the only one who notices Takeru's true emotions and can help him through it(if toei ever showed us it) and Takeru's calm and cool-headed nature helps calm Iori's nerves and gives him confidence even when he's nervous or scared.
I've seen people say Takeru and Iori should have been placed with one of the others as their Jogress Partner, but none of them would have worked as perfectly as they do.
This isn't meant to convince you to like Takeru and Iori, as long as you aren't being hateful, I don't care if you don't like them, but they are the perfect partners for each other and I guess I just wanted to rant about them
I love you Daikeru one-sided rivalry. I love you Takeru who couldn’t give a shit about Daisuke trying and failing to compete with him. I love you Takeru who is just a little too attached to Daisuke trying and failing to compete with him. I love you Takeru who, the moment he realizes Daisuke grew out of the one-sided rivalry, gets a longing for Daisuke’s attention again. I love you Daisuke who isn’t as oblivious as people think he is.

Just a few gifs I made to set up my blog. I did a faithful color edit and one that kind of removes the warm filter this scene has over it. It's definitely not perfect, but I thought it'd be nice to see Wallace with his 'true colors'.
