Since her conversation with Franklin, the nerves had been brewing within the Sheriff. Marie had so many questions and worries about his attacking her, about whether she was going to become the same as the creature that had attacked her, the same as Franklin, and the impending full moon wasn’t helping matters. Strange things happened in the town on a full moon anyway, and Marie was starting to piece the information together that they might all be interlinked with one another.
She didn’t know what to do, but she figured sitting in her apartment was one of the worst things she could do. If she was going to turn into that creature, then she needed to be out of the building, away from as many people as she could be. Away from anything that felt familiar. Franklin had told her that he hadn’t been able to control the attack, and she didn’t want to run the risk of putting someone else through the same pain. It wasn’t long to go she was sure, and she needed to walk to the woods. Best case scenario she walked that far, nothing happened, and then she’d come back.
She could only hope.
Pulling her jacket over her shoulders, Marie locked up her apartment and heading down to the parking lot, fighting the urge to get into her car. She didn’t need it, and she didn’t want to end up far from it, especially since she didn’t actually know what was going to happen - if anything at all. Her eyes fell to the car in the lot that wasn’t her own but one that she recognised nonetheless. She checked her watch quickly, deciding she had a short amount of time before she desperately had to be gone.
“Jason? What are you doing here?”
As she approached him, he kept his gaze slightly averted. Normally it wasn’t this tough talking to Marie, but she was always the one initiating conversations, not him. “I uh...” Jason stammered. “I was just checking in. It’s been a bit since we spoke and... With the weird stuff that’s been going on I uh... Just wanted to make sure you were okay. Like you do for me.” Marie had lost a few people she was close to, at least if Jason was recalling properly. He should have reached out sooner. Fuck.
Saren chuckled from the other side of the car at his host’s attempt at conversation. Jason barely functioned, and the spirit knew this, but goddamn did it hurt to watch him try and converse. It’s not like Jay even accepted tips from the spirit; granted, it was his loss. Who else would offer free social coaching? Not many.
Taking another deep breath, Jason looked at his friend in the eyes finally, swallowing back the anxiety that was choking him. “Have... you been doing okay? I.. should have called or.. something. Sorry.”
