Headcanons for Hermioneâs relationship with Lestat
So, upon thinking about the verse I have with Hermione and Lestat in the 1700s onward I decided to make some headcanons on her relationship, how she perceives Lestat and how they progress through the years.Â
1. Hermione is extremely loyal to Lestat because he helped her get out of an abusive and an oppressive home due to her parents keeping her practically locked up almost all the time for fear that sheâd be persecuted as a witch. Which meant she only was allowed outside very minimally, to get things from the market or pick up books from the bookstore. She was not allowed to court anyone at that time. Her meeting Lestat not only fueled the want to be with a man and have a romantic partner, but it solidified the fact she wished for freedom which Lestat in turn understands from his past abuse and gives that to her.Â
2. Hermione and Lestat learn each otherâs backgrounds and cultures as she is English from London England and he is a countryman, born in Auvergne France, who also was the Marquisâ son. Brought up from different means but both shared the likeness of wanting freedom, art, education and to learn about other people. Lestat is a very social being even as a vampire and helps Hermione grow to become a more confident woman. They both suffer with mental health but Hermioneâs is more on the anxiety side of things. She often longs for approval and even is insecure about herself or that anyone would want her. Lestatâs confidence, especially as a vampire helps her understand that he loves her no matter what, finds her beautiful and interesting always. She often needs reassurance of this which he in turn always gives to her. Unlike Louis (whose always whining and Lestat finds it very annoying) he does not treat her in the same regard. He dotes on her and wishes to only make her happy, therefore he will be gentle and speak to her, raise her up and try to cheer her up. Whether that is playing for her on the piano, buying her a gift or roses (which is her favourite flower), to simply listening and holding her to make her feel better.Â
3. Hermione teaches Lestat to play Piano. This is not canon to IWTV itself, just in this particular AU setting. Lestat tells Hermione that he cannot play music, though he wishes he could as he found Nicolas de Lenfent to be very talented. Hermione admits that she plays piano and would teach him. Ironically, he plays better than her. ;) They also both motivate each other with educating themselves.Â
4. Hermione is really the only one who sees Lestatâs true self. She knows his vulnerabilities, his emotions and often they donât have to speak for each other to communicate. Not only does Lestat read minds, but Hermione being a witch she can sense other peopleâs emotional energies and often will know what heâs feeling before he says it. This gives them a deeper understanding of each other and strengthens their relationship even if Louis or Claudia are against them.
5. Hermione doesnât really like Claudia and vice versa. Claudia feels that Hermione would be taking away the attention, but yet keeps Lestatâs temper at bay. Claudia will use this to her advantage. When Claudia eventually kills Lestat (well more attempts) with slicing his throat Hermione in her rage will become very dark. Not only did Claudia kill the man that Hermione loves, but he literally is everything to her. He is the beginning and end of everything. Her first love, first sexual partner, first travel companion, theyâve literally done everything together and for Claudia to snuff that out - well that will leave Hermione murderous in this verse.Â
6. With the fact Hermione is empathetic like Lestat and because of her magical powers of sensing energies sheâs really the only one who can calm Lestat down from an angry outburst (or as some people see it as a tantrum). She knows his hurts, doubts and where people pushed his buttons. Therefore, she can calm him down by calmly hugging him from behind while he plays the piano and kisses his cheek, or taking him out of the house whether for a walk to talk things out, to a show, or even to help him feed. She even offers her wrist to him if he wants it.Â
7. Her blood is very addictive to him. Since she is a witch her blood is often sweeter and he can never find anything that tastes like her at all. Though they both must be careful that he doesnât take too much as she is still human. She can heal quite rapidly so biting doesnât ever really harm her, he just as to be careful not to take too much.Â
8. Both are very passionate and fiery with each other. So if they get into an argument who knows what might happen. Both are supernaturally charged so I imagine lots of things getting thrown around. Much to Louisâ dismay. Yet the couple will always make up and come back to each other in the end.Â
9. Hermione trusts Lestat with her life. No ifs, ands or butts about it. She absolutely trusts him. Louis always tries to play victim or put doubt in her head about her beloved but the witch is very headstrong and doesnât let anyone tell her any different.Â
10. Both are very protective of each other. Lestat is very conscious of her health and making sure she is happy and healthy. Heâs not domineering towards her knowing how her father was to her. He just wants the best for her and will stop at nothing to give it. Hermione also wants Lestat to just be happy and will do anything to make him smile and laugh. She finds he is the most beautiful when doing both those things. The fangs are a bonus ;)Â
11. Nothing will separate these two basically. Not even setting him on fire, or him being away for years until the 80â˛s will these two be apart ;) Though Hermione does become depressed after what happened. Also to note, Hermione never stops trying to find him in the years they are separated, itâs made very hard to find him not knowing exactly where he is and that he went underground from 1926-1984, but she is glad to see him alive and well again in 1984 when they are reunited.
