the man he shared his new residence with is rather interesting. charismatic, carefree, dramatic - these three adjectives come to qui-gon's mind immediately upon pondering a possible description for elijah. he doesn't have any complaints about the man, really. he is kind, and the humming that'll fill the halls from time to time is quite soothing. he cooks well, has allowed qui-gon to try his meals many a time, and doesn't mind the master using their living room as a meditative space.
truly, when he thinks of elijah and possible flaws, only a sole candidate comes to mind: the intention his gaze holds once in a while. still, dubbing it a flaw is rough, it's rather .. a quirk, he'll call it. put simply, it's not like qui-gon hasn't been hit on before. force, he's used it for leverage in missions for time to time - nothing that would go against the code, of course, but unusual enough for his character he spares mentions of them. still, he theorises the non-frequent advances may be rooted in teasing, in playfulness. now, that's a game he can play.
waiting for elijah to return home, he's sat on the couch, eyes closed. no matter if the force is unknown to him now, there's much value to be gathered from meditating still, and so he does. his eyelids remain shut even as the front door opens.

Elijah wasn't a man that stayed in place for too long, more used to sleeping in moving hay carts and dodgy inns than in any normal place. That, was the very reason why he always left the house at the crack of dawn, and usually didn't come back until around sunset. But recently ? Recently, the bard had found himself at least coming back around lunchtime, with whatever he could get from the stores in Cemetown to make some sort of food for both himself and his unfairly attractive flatmate.
" Hello yourself- Oh. "
Last time he saw the room, there were in fact, maybe 45 plants in the room. How in all of the gods names did he obtain 6 new ones before lunch !? Elijah blinked a few times as he set the bags down, only to just, drape himself over the back of the couch.
" You know, this house may have the cleanest air in all the realm ! Tell me, Qui-dear, are you attempting to revert the effects of industrialization all on your own, from the comfort of our living space ? "
Mother of Seas and Storms- ( He's Normal. So Normal. ) Huh ? Wuh ?

[ quigonjinn ] These are Jedi robes, meant for battle. Their purpose is utility - not to draw attention, and certainly not to reveal.

Especially fellow musicians. He rarely got to know any from where he was from, they usually just got mad at him for ' stealing their gigs '... It certainly wasn't his fault he drew a crowd quicker than worms to compost !
" So they took your strings too then ? Damn, at least they're consistent. Call it a hunch, but I don't think the man can even play ! I mean, did you look at his hands ? Not a callus on em' ! Er- well, I suppose that doesn't quite apply to you, my bad. But still, my point stands, no idea what that magic man is doin' with my Theodora, but I better get her back in perfect condition. " The bard furrowed his brows at the very thought of his dear lute alone in some box somewhere, or god forbid, being played by someone else... He didn't like that.
" Well good to know you're settlin' well enough. I suppose it's not the worst situation we could be in ! I've certainly been in worse. "
THE SPINE WAS JUST SLIGHTLY TAKEN ABACK by Elijah's enthusiasm. It wasn't every day that someone was so eager to be friends with him. Not that he blamed anyone , of course. He was a hulking monstrosity made almost completely out of titanium ―― he wouldn't want to be friends with him , either. When he was met with eagerness instead of disgust , he didn't know how to react , so he instinctively started to laugh awkwardly. It took him a few moments to finally stop , a hand raising with a high - pitched buzz to rub his neck.
❛ REALLY - ? ❜ HE FINALLY ASKED , still unsure whether or not he was actually being truthful. Humans love playing practical jokes and the like , it could very well be that. Or perhaps it was sarcasm that he just didn't catch. ❛ I mean , yeah. Of course we are. ❜
IT TOOK HIM A MOMENT TO REALLY THINK ABOUT IT. It was true - the man that seemed to be greeting everyone didn't exactly seem to be the music type. A hand waved dismissively at the comment , accompanied by the repetitive clicking of gears grinding. ❛ Don't worry about it. Robotic musicians aren't all too common. ❜ Even around these parts there didn't seem to be many. And there were robots galore - though none as . . intimidating as he was. Which wasn't really that hard to achieve , considering that none of the robots that wandered the streets of ENCOY didn't exactly look to be the war type.
❛ WORSE THAN THIS , HUH ? SUPPOSE I could say the same. ❜ It's not all too bad , all things considered . . but he'd rather be back at home in Walter Manor right now.
" Really. " Elijah just affirmed his earlier words with a curt nod of his head. " Anyone that knows their way around a tune is worth knowin' if you ask me. " The bard was quietly fascinated by the metal musician in front of him, really taking a moment to just scan over every individual plate of silver.
The Spine would probably scare the soul out of some folks he knew back home, but that was their problem. Certainly not his.
" Oh yeah, but that's a story best shared over a few drinks or a round of cards I think. At least, until I can get my act together and write a song about it, that is. " Elijah rested his weight back on her left leg, running his hand against his beard.
" So, I gotta ask, but you absolutely don't have to answer- Were you always such a fine collection of metals ? Or is this some kind of spell you're walkin' about with ? I knew this guy once who messed with the wrong mage and boom, spent the next fortnight made of wood until he apologized. "

NOW , THAT MAY JUST BE THE MOST FABULOUS MERMAN she's ever laid her eyes on. Granted , she's sure he wasn't a merman before this whole thing started ( nobody around here was , as far as she knows ) but he looks like he was meant for the water. Iridescent scales shimmer in the water - reflected sun , teal tail complementing the blue of his hair.
. . SHE'S ALMOST JEALOUS that he pulls it off better than she does.
IT'S BEEN A FEW MONTHS OF HER BEING HERE NOW , and this is the first time she's noticed him. Still , there's no time better than the present for first introductions. She grins as she swims over to him , flipping her hair ( though it really isn't necessary with how it floats in the water anyways ). "You look so amazing. Like you just swam out of a magazine for hunky mermen."
Man, if Mother Delta could see him now... She always said he was a gift from the sea, but up until recently, he really just thought that was a fun way of saying 'I found you washed up on the sand out back' ! Not that he was truly complaining though, the scales and fins did suit him rather well, and he always was a gifted swimmer.
Elijah's never seen it so desolate around here, though it makes sense. Not everyone was suited for the underwater life, that's for sure. This just meant the bard could lounge on the top of a waterlogged market stand unbothered and-
Pink. Holy Pink.
" Well hello ! " He immediately rested his cheek in his palm and looked his visitor over. " Hah-! My lady, I thank you for your words, and I could say the same thing about you ! The pink really brings out your eyes. "
YESTEREVENT ~ RISING TIDES
Mother Delta always said he was a gift from the goddess of the waters, and with no lineage to prove her wrong, he isn't even vaguely surprised when he takes to the water like any other fish in the sea. This sure will do wonders for his self identity !
Elijah for this event, is very standard merman, though it's giving more shark than it is dolphin in terms of tail direction and teeth. But he's harmless !
Well ! Good think I was literally raised for this ! ( Pulling his shirt off in the middle of the damn street and diving in. )
Handing the first organic being he sees a glass full of energon from between his claws. He really really really wants to see what'll happen if a non-cybertronian drinks it.
"Here - it's on me. Make sure you drink the entire thing, quickly, before the taste kicks in. Like a shot."
" Suspicious liquid has never stopped me before and it will not stop me now. Cheers my friend. " SHOTS.
" Travelled planets you say ? " He could recall a few passing philosophers in his travels that swore up and down there was life far past the stars in the sky, and this cat-thing just proved them all right.

The bard made a mental note to pick at the beastie for more information on that later. New things to learn were coming at him from several direction now !
" You want me to... what now ? You want me to taste the dirt ? "
" why , yes ! " sox chirped , enthused by the mans astonishment . to sox , traveling the galaxies was as familiar as breathing air ( bad example since he doesn't . have lungs . that's besides the point ) - but he was well aware that he lived a life with far more ' adventure ' than most cats experienced , so he was always willing to share his stories with anyone who could endure his yapping . " all sorts of planets ! planets with radioactive substanes , planets that rain knives , planets where there is no sexual dimorphism and mate entirely through eye contact - there's an entire unvierse out there ! it's really quite fascinating . "
elijah's legs were currently the victim of some pretty aggressive head-butting as sox rubbed his face on the individuals ankles ( marking his scent and all . after all , how else was he supposed to tell everyone apart if he couldn't smell who he already met ? what if his database had also been taken from him in this strange place ! ) . he continued to do so , even as the bard questioned him . " yes . taste the dirt , please . and describe the taste to me . is this not something you do when you're in an unfamiliar place ? " after all , it's what all the humans he ever encountered did .
Elijah blinked several times as he tried to make heads or tails of anything the feline was saying. For all he knew, the thing could be casting spells on him... But given that it was a cat ( or the equivalent of ), the bard didn't worry too much about it.
" Little man I have no idea what most of the words you just said to me mean, but they sure do sound interesting. "
The headbutting was surprisingly endearing, and instinctively dropped Elijah to a seated position. There, now he was more level with Sox.
" Ah, not usually no... " He honestly didn't willingly put dirt in his mouth at all, but that doesn't mean he hasn't tasted it before. There were plenty of bar fights that ended with him being tossed teeth first into the mud ! " However, I am not a man to shy from a challenge ! "
Elijah nodded with maybe too much confidence and locked his eyes on the ground.. Yeah sure, why not, he'll shove dirt into his mouth because a talking cat told him too.
" The very same ! Though, my friends do just call me Elijah. " Elijah straightened himself out, a hand resting on his hip as he eyes the automaton up and down. He found his gaze tracing over the symmetrical gaps on his face and down his neck.
Absolutely fascinating... Oh how he wishes he had access to his journal about now, the sketches forming in his head would make heads spin where he's from !
" I'd like to think it's one of my best qualities ! Mother Delta would've had my hide as a lad if I did any less ! Ah but I am getting ahead of myself- Tell me, are you settling in ? Find your way to your lodgings with minimal difficulty ? "
THE SPINE NODDED , COMMITTING THE NAME TO MEMORY. ❛ Well , I'll be sure to remember that , Elijah. If this makes us friends , of course. I'd hate to assume. ❜ The comment , however , was accompanied by a lighthearted smile. He sure would like it if that was the case. Having friends in a place like this would probably do him some good - especially when he was so used to being surrounded by Walter Workers and his fellow band members all the time.
HE PICKED UP ON THE OTHER MAN looking him up and down with curiosity , and frankly , he didn't quite know how he felt about it. It wasn't his first time being examined in such a way , so why this seemed so . . . different , he wasn't sure. The only response he had was involuntary , a faint cloud of steam rising from the vents on his neck and face.
