I've decided I want in on the poll blog fun, although I have no idea how long I will have the time and energy to do it.
Some questions you might have:
What counts as having grown a plant?
Anything. From "I tenderly grew this from seed" to "I grew this professionally in my horticulture job" to "it was in the garden when I moved in and I didn't pull it out" to "I bought this on a whim and struggled to keep it alive for all of two weeks". It counts. I would draw the line at "I brought it home and never did a single thing to keep it alive", but being successful at growing it is not a requirement!
Why are you not taking suggestions?
I have literally thousands of plant photos that I've taken over the years. I would like to go through these first before having to search for additional photos.
You're calling this a name I've never heard/What is that weird Latin-ish name you use?
Vernacular plant names are a mess. They're different from area to area, sometimes from family to family, let alone from language to language. Sometimes, one species has many different names, sometimes one name is used for different species...
Botanical names (which are often, but not always, Latin) give more clarity, one name for one species. (They are sometimes a mess, too, but less often than vernacular ones.)
If you are unsure if the plant is the one you're thinking of, I recommend googling the botanical name, either to look at more pictures, or to see if it is also known under the name you know it under. This is going to be faster than asking me about it.
