Gerson Boom, modeled with Blender. More details under the cut!
Shortly before the new chapter dropped I've been feeling like modeling some iconic characters from chapter 3 and 4. I enjoyed Gerson Boom a lot because he's old a really fun and engaging character with a lot of twists and depth to his personality. If I had to describe him, I'd say he's like a really wise troll who knows a little too much. I especially enjoyed him being old his connection with Susie.
I don't know how I did it but I somehow managed to beat him after a billion tries... I'm not sure I'll ever manage to do it again lol
Anyway, hope you all enjoy this render! I wanted to give him a proper background, so I modeled it after his study and reused some book models I made for older projects. I took inspiration from a lot of the official artwork from both Undertale and Deltarune, such as the sprites, Gigi's early concepts and the tarot card art from the official merch. The clothes in particular were a really cool challenge to tackle, Gerson loves to wear lots of layers lol. The shell in particular was something I had to do some research on to get the shape that I wanted, taking inspiration from Koopa Troopas from Mario. I also recorded the whole process for a future timelapse, so much footage to go through!
