Her chipped nails tapped against the greasy table. Anxiety clasping around Violets heart yet pulling in two different directions. One, that wished for the interaction to all ready be over. The other, wished that they would stay stuck in this moment forever.
“Sooo, what did you want to talk about?” Poppy asked from across the table. Violet looked up at her, slightly caught off guard by the break in the silence. “Huh?” She asked, stupidly, internally groaning at the fact.
“Well, you called me out this way? Did you, like, forget?” Poppy asked her, quirking her eyebrow up impressively high on her face. “Yeah, I uh, I wanted to talk to you about your home, Crocus Manor.”
“N-not in like a weird way. It’s for a history project and the town library doesn’t have much on the topic-“
“Is this about the manor’s history, or the ghost that are said to lie in it?” Violet felt herself tense up, she had always been a terrible liar but this was pathetic.
“God,” Poppy whispered to herself, a bit of amusement in her voice, “you’re still as strange as you were when we were kids.” Violet can feel her checks burn at the observation, and she goes to rebuttal the statement-
“Good. I’m happy you never lost that part of yourself.”
Violets jaw snaps close and she has to look away, checks slightly flushed. She looks back over just in time to see Poppy thrive her a sweet smile.
“Smile!” Says a voice all of a sudden.
Each girl turns only to get a flash in their faces. A waitress, the one who was taking photos of other patrons earlier, had decided that these two would make a good target for her next photo.
“Look at you two, such sweet friends!” The waitress walks away, waving the photo up in down to help it dry.
