Thinking about Awakening through the lens of Anders who's just trying to get to Karl but keeps being thwarted first by solitary, then by the blight, then the Wardens, breaks my heart. Like each time he makes the best of it. Copes with it. As he does pre merging with Justice. He seems Happy. Fine. There's an ever present sense of discomfort but he jokes about it. He turns it into something everyone can laugh at because if he starts thinking too hard about the fact that it's been three years since Karl was sent to the literal Gallows, he might just actually go crazy
