BIO.
romy and her twin kai were born a minute or so apart in a hospital on marina island to two loving parents. according to kai, he was first, but romy liked to smudge the details a little whenever she tells the story.
they had a normal, full childhood until their parents died in a tragic accident and the two of them were shipped off to live with their grandparents.
although not awful, their grandparents were cold and distant. the complete opposite of what they were used to. romy grew more distant and cold herself, mimicking their behaviour as a way to protect herself.
the only person she let in was kai, her twin, who was her best friend and the only person she could confide in.
at eighteen, romy moved away to new york city to pursue a career in art. it was always something she'd been passionate about and she was quite talented herself.
being closed-off like she was, she wasn't willing to sell her art or even show it to anyone. she started working at the MET and eventually made her way to the top.
she was twenty-one when she met christian, a fellow artist who had made quite a name for himself in the art world.
their relationship was a whirlwind, passionate and fiery. she was pregnant after a year and things seemed almost perfect.
a year after their daughter's, vivienne, birth, things started going downhill. passion turned into possessiveness and anger. christian became mean and resentful. one night, after one too many drinks, he reached the point of no return and hit romy.
she was out of there before the sun came up, bags packed and vivienne in her stroller, and she moved right back to marina island.
a restraining order and a battle for full custody later, she was right back where she had started and having to start over.
she managed to snag the director job at the small museum thanks to her great resume and found herself a nice house in marina heights.

"You know I'd take any excuse to wear a beautiful gown," Romy reminded her brother, tilting her head to the side as she glanced his way. "I do, actually. Jaziel. Know him?" @oculiaperticlausi
Jaziel paused for a moment -raised brow and lips pressed - before letting out a chuckle. "You're a little funny there, Romy." he said, taking his glass to his lips and having a taste. "What'd beer ever do to get on your dark side? I happen to really fancy me some. Specially after some nice hot wings and fries."
"Am I?" Romy asked with a hint of a smile, wondering which part exactly was funny to him. Hopefully, not the beer part because she hadn't actually been joking. "Other than tasting like shit? It gives me the worst stomach ache." Her lips curled up in a smile when he mentioned hot wings and fries, two things she hadn't had in forever. "I'm not even sure I remember how to eat wings, to be fully honest." @demidevildiva
"They did not have any champagne left, something about having to wait for a truck or something." He said, coming up from behind her with two glasses of wine, "I hope this is alright?"
"No more champagne? Whoever planned this thing needs to be fired, clearly," Romy said, the first thought that came to her head being that she would've done a much better job if she had been put in charge of the planning. "Wine is great, thank you. I might've just ended the date if you had come back with a beer." @demidevildiva
Elijah gave a light sigh that was nothing but playful. She said he would have to do way better than his previous offer, but she didn't say no. "Okay, you hold the cards here. What would you like instead?" he asked, curious as to what this woman might prefer. He didn't recognize her, but she certainly had his attention now. A pretty face and an attitude was always his favorite combination. @hawkinsromy
"How about a nice bottle of gin? You can have it delivered to my place," Romy suggested, arms crossed over her chest as the line moved and she took a step forward. "And you'll pay for mine and my kid's dinner as well. Since you so kindly offered." She didn't need either or even money, but she did enjoy having the upper hand. "Might want to make up your mind quickly, we're getting pretty close to the counter." @islandmumublog
Elijah had just finished going live for the weather a few minutes back and wasn't needed anymore, so he decided to dip out before the end of the broadcast. Work had been a little crazy because of everyone watching the news since the murder on Halloween, so he hadn't had the chance to get something to eat. Walking over to the food trucks right around the corner, he really didn't feel like waiting in line for a quesadilla. "If you let me join your spot in line I'll buy your food."
Romy was scrolling through the news on her phone as she waited in line for what would be her and Viv's dinner, catching up on the latest developments. Truth be told, there were no developments and it was mostly just the same tidbits of information being rewritten in twenty different ways over and over again, but she thought it wise to read them anyway just in case. Not so much out of worry for herself, but for her kid. She glanced up when a man walked up to her, amusement on her face as she took in the line of people behind her. "I can afford my own food," she said flatly, tilting her head to the side. "So, you'll have to do way better than that." @islandmumublog
Repeated back to him the way she said it make him grimace slightly, knowing it did sound a little farfetched, but in truth, they were trying to keep the media away from as many of the people who lived on the island. Not only to keep any information they could to themselves for the itme being, but because they knew how brutal reporters could be to those unsuspecting or trying to grieve. "Not quite what I meant." Had she been at the festival the night before? Everyones faces blurred together after a while. "Just trying to keep reporters away from everyone while we can. They haven't bothered you today, have they?"
"Yeah, I know, but you sort of walked right into that," she pointed out with a shrug. Admittedly, she was also terrible at handling herself in dramatic or tragic situations, so her filter was even less effective than it usually was. "They haven't. Either they can tell I have nothing interesting to contribute or they're put off by my resting bitch face. Probably a little of both." @tcintedsvcrets
marina open
location: outside the carvalho family home
Keeping the media out of the Carvalho's front yard was growing increasingly difficult the more news spread about her gruesome murder. Stations from the mainland had begun arriving in the early hours of the morning and no matter how many times they'd been told - they continued to encroach while Jake and his team moved forward with interrogations and talking to her family. "I already told you," he barked out in a rather authoritative tone, "I don't have anything to say to you right now. You'll be updated when we're ready." His focus momentarily compromised, Jake bumped into another, catching both of them from falling too far as his features softened, "Hey - you okay? You really shouldn't be here."
It was hard to avoid the chaos in the wake of the murder. Marina was relatively small and, despite being new to town, Romy could feel the tension everywhere around her. People seemed scared and the media circus in front of the victim's house was... something else. It was quite the sight for someone who came from a big city where events like this happened often. Reporters were still crawling all over the lawn when she accidentally walked right into someone yelling angrily. He had an air of authority about him that screamed cop. "I really shouldn't be on this public sidewalk?" She asked a bit defensively. "I'm just on my way to get some errands done. Not trying to prey on anyone's grief like the other vultures here, I promise." @tcintedsvcrets
Issy smiled but said no further and followed the blonde's glance up on the wheel. "I think you will do great." she assured Romy, as she entered the booth and they secured themselves. "I can see how that can be unnerving. I think it gives the wheel some character." Issy grinned. "A bit more thrill." She couldn't remember the last time she had gotten on one though. Always too busy to enjoy the festivities and events organized in the island. "How's the baby?"
"I think it means the structure is old and decrepit, but that might just be the pessimist in me," she said flatly, gripping the metal bar in front of her. Not that it would save her if this turned into the next installment of Final Destination. "Viv's good. She's a handful but in a good way. See, her fussiness? That gives her character." She groaned as the Ferris wheel started moving, the creaking only intensifying. @demidevildiva
