On May 7, 1988, Sesame Place hosted it's own election for children to get a taste of the electoral process. Using real voting machines from Philadelphia, kids could vote for Big Bird, Cookie Monster, the Honkers, Bert, Ernie, Prairie Dawn, or Grover for president.

Big Bird won the election with 24% of the total votes.
