hii, i love your writing and i was wondering if you have any comic recommendations for kurt?
As I've mentioned before, I'm just starting to read the comics, so I can't give you a lot of recommendations and all of them would be older issues, but I shall see what I can come up with.
Obviously, I recommend Nightcrawler 1985. It's a four-issue comic that you can absolutely read without going through all the Uncanny X-men issues prior. It's fun and lighthearted and completely about Kurt going on weird adventures.
God Loves, Man Kills is a graphic novel with a more serious and bleak tone, and while it's not Kurt-centric, he still has his little moments there. I'd recommend reading it in general if you like the X-Men universe.
The Big Dare is a story from Classic X-Men #4 which you can also read without worrying about not understanding the context. It's a small thing about Kurt and Wolverine hanging out basically.
The same way High adventure is a story focused on Kurt in Classic X-Men #23. He gets washed ashore on an island and has to save a damsel in distress. He's very handsome there, I must add.
And if you want to see Kurt hanging out with Spider-Man, you can read Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #161 to see them meeting for the first time and then continue with Marvel Team-up (1972) #89.
And onto more prolonged reading — Excalibur. Of course, it ought to be read after a specific issue of Uncanny X-Men, but if you're mostly (or only) interested in Kurt, I see no harm in jumping right into it. Start with Excalibur: The Sword Is Drawn (1988) #1 that shows the new team assembling and continue onward. I must say, the beginning of Excalibur is very fun and to me personally it was a breath of fresh air after the Uncanny X-Men. It's easy to read, easy to follow, and Kurt is absolutely wonderful there. At least that's what I can tell after reading a little more than half of it.
There was only one Nightcrawler-centric issue, from what I can remember, which is #31. Again, it can be read without context, if you want to see Kurt being sassy while battling a child of Krakoa. He's ruthless with his words there, lmao, it was amazing to see.
It's not a long list, but I hope you can find something that piques your interest. Again, I must agree with most people who say Excalibur is wonderful — it is, especially if you're a Kurt fan. I highly recommend reading it if you haven't already!
Also, I have to attach this reading guide that is all about Nightcrawler. It's really helpful and visually clear, and it obviously touches upon a lot more than what I recommended here.
