We live in a world wherein two kinds of people coexist, those who are content and those who are not and always feel that something is lacking. There are times when we feel rather joyful about something that makes us have a positive outlook. However these are also some instances when we get upset over things. Of course, what most of us want to experience is the feeling of being happy. It is one of those emotions that make a person feel good and joyful deep inside. Happiness is one of the most elating feelings one can have, however, it is also not permanent, it may come in different forms depending on the person, and it is also, most of the time, inevitable.
People often have this certain feeling or experience when they just have nothing to complain about. It’s either they already have everything they want or they are already fine with what they have. Whenever they are already satisfied and pleased with that they have, they are contented. Experiencing contentment also lightens up a person’s baggage and outlook towards life. It gives them a sense of enlightenment and positivity to move forward and look at life positively. Somehow, a person could perceive life as something to appreciate whenever they experience a whole amount of weight of burdens get off their shoulders. Disappointment is imminent; however, just being able to lift some possible conflicts off one’s system could already create a huge effect towards someone’s happiness. Another thing that elates us that is caused by happiness is the feeling of being invincible. It is somewhat an emotion that makes us so alive and enlightened. We can do anything when we are happy and accomplish so many and, at the same time, it also gives us a feeling that we are fearless, that we are capable of doing anything and everything. Happiness strengthens our will to do almost anything possible out of confidence and power. Whenever someone is happy, s/he has the mindset that no one can stop them from doing things. For a person, elation could happen to them in different forms and kinds through different processes. Happiness is very much imminent among those reasons since it is something that is easily acquired by anyone at any time. It sets a person free and confident to accomplish many things they want to.
Theoretically, everyone wishes for happiness and constant joy in their lives. But for many, happiness is impermanent. Since achieving this feeling is somewhat inevitable, we’ll never know when we are going to experience it and how. But when we do, we are relieved, we are joyed, and we’d like to think that this experience would last for a long period of time. While having and going through the process of undergoing this emotion, one has to experience a lot of other things before finally capturing this feeling. There are several matters that one person will eventually have to surpass through the course of acquiring their most coveted feeling of being happy and contented. It could be to do hard tasks and even experience hardships and disappointments along the way. Yet, they think that, in the end, all of their sacrifices and difficulties would be all worth it. That all the adversities and misfortunes they overcome will result into great achievement and long term happiness. And once they attain their goal, they finally acquire that sense of fulfillment and success. And since no one really knows what their future holds, they can’t really tell how long their happiness would last. As much as we all want to maintain that overjoyed feeling, we really couldn’t tell whether it is there to stay or not. These are only two possible occurrences that could happen to a person, fortune or misfortune. When they are lucky enough to have continuous happiness, then they are fortunate enough to be blessed by this. But as for those whose odds aren’t in their favor, it may be a complete letdown for their feelings and outlook on life. There are many inevitable situations that could alter one’s emotions in a short span of time. Eventually, that could be the reason why one’s happiness could be ruined and short-lived, which is why we can tell and assume that happiness is a feeling that is impermanent and inevitably changing and also unpredictable most of the time. We can definitely say that happiness can change a person’s life by being acquired and being lost.
For a person, happiness may come in different forms depending on their preferences and perceptions of what it is. For most of the people around, they find happiness through material things. Like that saying, “Money makes the would go round.”, we can see that people think that, with money, they can buy their source of happiness. Because of these material things they experience positive feelings. It is very much evident seeing as many people fight for money, work hard for money, and resort to doing anything may it be good or bad just to get rich. And once they become rich, this is when they believe that they are happy and content. For others, the feeling of joy could come from other people. For some reason, this emotion could be contagious and positively passed onto someone else who feels sad. Others, try hard to cheer people up just so they can escape the sadness or disappointment they are experiencing. A person can turn another person’s feelings around through their actions and efforts. It could be that a person’s source of happiness is simply the presence of another and that in itself makes them content. And then, there are those people who find happiness in the simplest forms, may it be the simple fact that another person is happy or that another person is smiling. As said, happiness is contagious and we can acquire simply by having positive energy around us. Even in non-material things like a baby’s first step or cuddling your pet could already be a form of happiness for some. This feeling doesn’t always need to come from something tangible. We can always think of many ways to make us happy that doesn’t require extreme effort or wherein we have to go through large amounts of difficulty to be content. It is better to be one of those people who find positivity in the smallest things and already be contented about it. That is why those people who see so much in very small things are the lucky ones since they don’t have a hard time being happy and content.
Earlier, we have mentioned that happiness is inevitable. It may come in the most random times and the times we don’t expect it the most unless we work hard for it. For us Filipinos, despite experiencing a lot of hardships and rough times, we always find things that would make us smile amidst all the things that has happened to us, which is why I admire the spirit of Filipinos. Even though many go through rough patches and even drastic disappointments, there will always be a reason for us to smile and see that there will always be an easy way out of the pain. Happiness is inevitable. A person may experience a raging storm of problems and downs in their life to the point that they are on the verge of giving up. Yet, they fight until the very end to let go of that problem they are carrying. Many of us experience things that let us down and taint our positive outlook on life yet we do our best to turn things around and see light amidst the storm we are currently in the middle of. People do everything in their will and power to change things because they want to experience happiness and feel that they are worth of feeling joy and contentedness. They work hard and persevere and think that, in the end, all of their efforts would be worth it. And when they least expect it, happiness kicks in. They will finally experience that feeling they worked hard for and nothing else can ruin that. They know that, in everything that they’ve been through, all the things they surpassed, there will always be a reward in the end. And it doesn’t matter whether it comes in material form or not, as long as they feel the sense of achievement and fulfillment, they know they are happy. In the long run, we do know that in every difficulty we have to go through, there will always be something in the end that turns our emotions around and make us have a lighter feeling on our shoulders.
Happiness is one of the most elating feelings one can have however it is impermanent. It comes in different forms, shapes, sizes, may it be tangible or intangible, and it is inevitable. Having this feeling can bring a person to different emotions and can make them do various actions depending on how they interpret happiness into. This emotion is so broad that it can come to us in any way, anytime, and anywhere. Although it could happen through an easy process or it could go a long way, we’ll never know when it will come. But in the end, we know that having to go through everything that life throws at us, achieving happiness will always make everything worth it.
