Back Here again :D
I keep forgetting I have this. Moving forward I want to type down whatever is on my mind when it comes to this silly game called Tekken. I thoroughly enjoy it but I’ve stunted my own growth with my complacency. That stops here and now and I want to document my exploits as well as stream them :D

In trying to get better at the game, it was refreshing to watch as opposed to play. This vid reinforced the thought of just letting loose and playing your opponent. There were hard reads, tense moments and solid play from both teams. The best part of it, however, was lesser known internationals proving their solid play against world renowned players such as Knee, Saint and Nobi.

Simply put, I want to write more. It doesn’t matter what it is or anything. A video, a quote, a rant, anything I need to keep going with this. No more delays or procrastination...
The Miseducation of Ranked Battles
As I sit here having been demoted for the umpteenth time, I start to question the validity of Ranked Battles. I like competing against other people as much as the next person, but I feel that rank underneath your health bar holds precedent over trying to improve your gameplay. I use that rank as an indirect guide to what to expect out of my opponent where, in actuality, I need to focus on the character in front of me. I get too caught up in rank that I forget everything I learned and instead play on emotion, just so I can "rank up" or "avoid demotion." Now Almost 5000 matches in and I can't get past 21st dan...I wish I could ignore that material gain...it's messing with my actual gameplay.
An Escape From Chaos
Apparently there was some controversy on the OnBlastShow, a talk show with members of the Fighting Game Community. I would talk about it, but I have no idea what happened, nor do I want to find out. Instead I made a Tekken Tag online lobby and enjoyed playing against people in my area. Hearing the outcry from the OnBlastShow and my unintentional negligence of it serves as the reason why we all play video games: to escape from the everyday
Motivation Lost and Regained
As I sit down and start up Tekken Tag Tournament 2, I wonder: Why do I play? There are times where I feel like I'm not getting any better. But really, that's when you have to find out flaws in your game. I don't think there will be a case where someone can't improve in any area. Playing games against anyone are a luxury and losing my motivation over less than ideal outcomes (i.e. not winning) is not the right way to approach any game. As opposed to blaming the game, I look to improve my tactics.
With that being said, playing games in any capacity is only beneficial. When someone complains about online play (i.e. me), it's really my own shortcomings. I've started to take note of that and while it hasn't yielded consistent results, I can say it has made me calmer and see the kinks in my game. Online or offline, I feel there should be that same approach, but there will be those subtle differences in both pools of play. I'll get into that in more detail later...
Pad Wall
After playing poorly once again in Tekken, I started to ponder what to do to improve. I get hit by so many things that I practice to avoid and when I finally win, it's followed by 3-4 more losses. I can only conclude that I've maxed out my capabilities when it comes to using pad for Fighting Games.
My movement, whiff punishing, block punishing and dropped combos are all so inconsistent, switching to an arcade stick wouldn't make things much worse. While it is odd to think that changing from pad to stick will make things better, it at least would make me more committed to bettering my gameplay and we will just go from there.
One Team
When I started playing Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, I wanted to main Super Skrull. I never really thought about sticking with just one team. Because of this, I could never focus on the universal things such as movement, setups etc. All I ever went over were combos and I would change characters based on combo potential and not necessarily synergy. My game overall suffered because of it and I eventually lost interest in the game.
Now, I've decided to stick with one team: S. Skrull, Iron Man, Sentinel and I will see where that takes me...
