Toronto's first Subway musician...the one and only Billy James, appearing on "Between Routine."
Adam Solomon, one of the wisest, soulful musicians I have ever gotten the chance to work with. He plays the blues just like the classical greats did. Stay tuned for our upcoming track on “Between Routine,” my compilation album with the subway/busk musicians of Toronto.
Almost finished working with Daniel Huezo's portion of "Between Routine." Had lots of fun in the studio working with another one of Toronto's best subway/street musicians...
It was a pleasure working with Marko on my upcoming EP. He is an incredibly talented musician that brings culture and soul into his music and performance. Marko is originally from Ecuador. He grew up in a small village where he met his soon to be wife, whom he later had 2 children with. Although he had tremendous talent, he knew Ecuador would not be able to provide the financial need for his family. For that reason, he moved abroad to Europe with the intention of making a living as a musician. He ended up in Germany, where he became a flute player for a band that toured all across Europe. He gained a great amount of experience while making plenty of new friends along the way. Years later, Marko once again decided to move, this time to Canada where he hoped to prosper even more. Here in Toronto he plays on a regular basis throughout the Toronto subway line, and at private events such as weddings and other functions. Through this, Marko his hoping to bring his children to Canada so that they can indulge in the culture, diversity, and opportunity that Canada provides. Marko works countless hours playing music around Toronto while trying to perfect his craft, in order to bring him one step closer to having his children with him. Thankfully I had the opportunity to work with have him on my upcoming EP. Marko is a truly real artist in the music world, bringing meaning to the art, culture, and work ethic that music can bring to life. Look for him throughout the subway and around Toronto.

New Concept Album in Production!
As a commuter gigging around town, Hazin has always been inspired by the talent and creativity of the musicians that occupy the TTC subway stations. Together these musicians make up the timbre of a Toronto commute. In order to honor the artistry of these musicians, Hazin's new album "Between Routine," is a collaboration of various TTC musicians, which will produce a final product that denotes the creativity and diversity of Toronto.
The album will come 32 years after the original eight TTC buskers produced an album with similar foresight. The album was called "Music for Subways."
As quoted on Alan Cross's official website:
"This is a really cool concept from Toronto artist Hazin. Poetry Bleeding is an album build around pieces popular poetry that has been re-worked into original songs. “Lizard King” has a great feel to it. It borrows portions of the lyrics to The Door’s “An American Prayer” and puts them up against escalating organs, faint gospel vocals, and mournful jazz sax.
Sounds like: “Steel doors lock in prisoner's screams and muzak, AM, rocks their dreams.”
Let's kick it old school...HAPPY SUNDAY!!!
