the peach tea was only half drank, criminal for letting her drinks get cold as she spoke before she could even finish it. “they’re hand painted by some sweet old lady who gives palm readings out of her house,” rosie gave as her answer, a stern shake of her head. even if it was something that was open to nasty spirits, she loved that type of stuff. “my grandma used to tell me about them all the time; she apparently used to have a ton,” probably why her parents neatly stuffed her into an old folks home, “but i’ve never had any of my own, so, please tell me about why your apartment. i love spooky things.”

“wow that’s great, considering i definitely have fume filled paint in my hair,” rosie said in an unimpressed tone, already recognizing the voice. “you smell like a distillery man,” she laughed, imitating his voice as she turned to face him. “fun night, huh?”

DOE LIKE HUES floated across bright pages, forehead creasing and buttoned nose scrunching up as a result of her deep concentration. the tale the brunette was currently immersed in wasn’t all that complicated – she’d actually found it in the children’s book aisle. no matter how dumb it seemed though, winnie just couldn’t seem to put the book down… that was until the other’s shoes appeared in her line of sight anyway. setting the object down and using her pointer finger to push crooked glasses upwards ( they always seemed to find a way to end up nearly falling off her face ) sparkling gaze now met the person’s own. “ oh ! sorry… am i in your way ? ” she exclaimed and immediately sprung up from the floor with the borrowed book now tightly pressed against her chest, the pale skin of the apple’s of her cheeks starting to warm up.
“oh gosh no, no !! don’t get all frazzled, it’s okay,” rosamund exclaimed, putting her hands out in front of her. “honestly, i was just going to let you know i was going to step around you and everything, y’know? didn’t want to startle you. --- what was it you were reading?”

“test subject? for what?” andrew asked, eyebrows raising as he listened to the woman’s offering, shrugging his shoulders after the initial shock of the proposal wore off. “sure, what do i have to lose, huh?”
“you are a breath of fresh air, andrew, you know that? everyone in this building... they’re still shaking from me asking this tiny little thing,” she said with a small laugh. “shuffle these for me, please.”

a severely over dramatic look of surprised and simultaneous joy came across rosie’s face, “holy shit, you’ve never been more right? you’re brilliant,” she cried happily, cupping toni’s face in her hands. “you look good, and i’m a regular selena, people won’t forget us.”

immediately grateful that she was lucky enough to lie about someone who picked up her meaning, katherine automatically leaned in to close the distance and make things seem more intimate than they were. she knew the other girl by sight but the suggestion that she was waiting on her better half was big jump. “scotch tonight. but you get what you want, sweetheart,” she breathed, leaning in to press her lips to the girl’s cheek. “i owe you big time,” katherine whispered as she pulled away from the embrace.
“i’ll get a whiskey sour,” she uttered to the bartender before turning back to her supposed sweetheart. with a feigned laugh, she shook her head, “oh god no--- honestly i’d do it for anyone. we’ve got to have each other’s backs right?”

“oh no, never christmas related,” rosamund said with a small shimmy of her shoulders, “usually only people who deserve my sly manipulation. and when i want to get my sides substituted for free but, like, i’m broke and chilli’s is thriving so... i am always a perfect angel, basically.”

“if they’re all death cards then i’m going to be very angry because these were not cheap,” she joked, squeezing spencer’s wrist reassuringly. “if you do get a singular death card it will probably mean something good. you’re about to start a new chapter in life or some shit.”

“actually the death card is one of the best in my opinion everytime i pick it --- it’s more like... reinvention, shedding the old and coming into something new. plus all those drawings are super pretty; hand painted,” she aid excitedly. “are you in or what?”

rosie laughed, she was good but she didn’t really adhere to the rules -- it was just harmless fun though. “how are you going to post a note if you don’t know who it belongs to? we might have to open it, we can’t just guess who it belongs to. what if it ends up in the hands of someone nastier than us?”
i feel kinda bleh and full of nerves and it’s probs bc today was so grey where i am so im gonna go take a nap b4 coming back on dont get too wildin when im gone!!!!!!

“exactly, though i would like to think i have a bit of a better personality than she does,” rosie joked, tapping the cards on the table in anticipation. “seriously though, it’s pretty much just based off of your own energy from everything that i’ve read, so unless you have any spirits lurking around you or you’ve been cursed a lot i think you might be okay.”

laughing, tristan shook his head. “nah, i think it’d be better for the both of us if i didn’t tell you the weird things i get told every day,” he grinned at the brunette before sitting down and reaching over for the cards. “so you mean to tell me i could ask why the sky is blue? or should i go with something deeper like, hm, i don’t know… how i’ll die? if i’ll ever find love? what colour of socks should i wear wear tomorrow?”
“that’s okay, one day i’ll be able to see all these weird things you do, on the big screen,” she waggled her brows, ever supportive. “okay -- so, i do know you’re going to die from being a smart ass, and you know i don’t know why the sky is blue because i flunked out of every science class i’ve ever taken.”

“oh my gosh, you’re so dramatic,” rosie groaned, rolling her eyes lightheartedly, “this doesn’t even involve spirits, but okay pray all you want --- anyways though,” she continued, shaking her head, “you’re only going to pick three because i’m a newbie. two less prayers for you to have to do, right?”
