“this looks like a — “ gun, is what he means to say, but he presumes the words are likely to fall on deaf ears when cailean notices the other’s adamant curiosity. though he gladly relinquishes the chance to lecture someone else on the danger of such a weapon, one that is traditionally not found in the magical dimension and thus would be but a strange object to most of his kind, the male can’t quite help himself but lift one corner of his mouth in amusement. “is it a real one, or did you buy it at the kiosk next door?”
“me?” isoke asked and tilted her head. “i bought nothing. i don’t even have earth money.” she admitted. she pretty much had no money - of no planet whatsoever. “i just noticed it as well. what does it do?” she wondered, not quite sure what the object was, but apparently the other person had more knowledge.
the advice passed down was to help others and they’ll return the favor when your kingdom is in need. an ancient planet such as Rotatia would have been obliged to carry on with those loyalties. the new planet, Rot, however, had none of those obligations. she was there trying to win over the fickle hearts of her constituents–– that, was the reason she had chosen to help.
robes of rouge contrasted dark tresses as they crowned the top of her head. gilded rubies fastened by magic would hold her braids in place. the skeleton of black thorn was missing, though her crown felt heavier than ever. she, unfortunately, had bigger worries than Earth succumbing to a darkness, but she knew what it was like to live in fear. so she hid in the library, hoping to find some answers. she riffled through a couple of more of the leather bounds. a fingertip trailed a light trace of dust which reminded her of home. a smile plays at her lips for a moment until she speaks.
“I hardly know what to speak. This selection is almost too overwhelming. Perhaps if I speak of Earth’s Constellations, the right book will come.”
books were not kosmo’s natural habitat, but they needed to know more about the diadem as well as the known negative forces on earth.
they were wearing their normal clothes, which were - as a specialist - her black full body suit with golden accents, as well as a golden cape that moved as they walked. being on earth now, their bow and arrows were always on their back, ready to fight at any moment. they overheard a voice and their head, carrying their golden crown, turned towards the voice. “what are you looking for?” they asked, interested in possibly researching together with someone.
horrible. this is absolutely horrible. how could anyone think that this was okay? should she blame zyra on this? no, that didn’t sound right. it’s not the other’s fault that they have no sense on this kind of matter. how can anyone sleep when the rooms are just so — boring? there is nothing to it. even the paint looks sad. should she do something about this? add an accent color. even that, olivia fears, will not help this situation. where’s the spark? the color? these rooms were just not going to cut it. she’s going to have to do something about it — forgetting that she has to share the space.
“ i need a furniture store, paint store. something. asap. this is an emergency. ”
@winxstarters
“do you know the definition of emergency?” kosmo asked and shook their head. “this really isn’t why we’re here. what is it about the people who have been selected. everyone is focused on trivial things. this is not a holiday.” the regent insisted. their own room was decorated with a picture of their children and other than that it was pretty spartan.
“Hey!” Mina exclaims in mock outrage. Truthfully, she doesn’t care what others think of a simple piece of jewelry but she loves a good debate. “They’re a statement piece and can really pull a look together. If worn confidently enough it can even make a look, especially if it’s one with an incredibly powerful crystal in the middle.” An incredibly powerful crystal that they were meant to retrieve. Mina was saving that information to process later. “You wouldn’t want an evil overlord wearing it, now would you?”
isoke snorted at the serious response she received and shook her head. “what type of events do you have where a diadem is a valid option for an outfit. i mean, i know i’m surrounded by royalty all around but damn, i never even thought of a diadem for day to day wear.” she told her and sighed. “i just don’t want to die over a piece of jewelry.”
—it’s not just a diadem, it’s an ancient magic artifact from andros— mehri stares at the girl, with a mixture of disbelief and exasperation, wondering how people have been chosen for this task force —this is not a fashion contest, we are not here for the love of art, in case you don’t realize— .
isoke held up her hands and chuckled. “dark humor, sarcasm, ever heard of that?” she wondered. “look, we’re all on edge but you went from zero to a hundred real quick, didn’t ya?” she teased. “don’t worry, i realize this is serious, but there are cooler things to retrieve other than a diadem.”
“ i wish i had a diadem, not for really any reason. but some of them are so sparkly and pretty like? i get the appeal and honestly, i’m starting to wonder… was it me that stole it? i don’t remember stealing it but like, it’s possible right isoke? ” olivia is a tad bit… forgetful at times. what if this is just one of the things that she forgot? “ oh my god. i stole the diadem. zyra is going to kill me. and the worst part is? i can’t even remember doing it. where did i put it? where did it go? do you think it just… walked out on it’s own. can objects do that?”
isoke could handle a bit of quirkiness... but this girl was a little much. “objects can’t do that and you didn’t steal it, considering it has been gone for a while and you just got here.” she told her, rolling her eyes. “also, even if you were forgetful, you wouldn’t be that forgetful.” she wondered what this girl was even doing here. weren’t only the best and the brightest invited, or did they also invite some people as cannon fodder?
“It sounds as though there are none worthy enough to wear diadems from wherever you are from.” Pity, though, some cultures differed in their customs. Xiaoli hardly ever left her planet without her own rubies– a symbol of her own worthiness to dawn a diadem. her crown of plaits were fastened by a set of aged stones unearthed from fire and brimstone. if one had any inclination to step forward, they could likely smell a hint of sulphur mixed with her own rose oil perfumes. a lazy hand would gesture towards her diadem, “I suppose there are more creative ways to denote royalty.”
isoke raised her eyebrow and tilted her head. “where i come from?” she told her. “i suppose you’re right, considering i grew up on the breadline.” she admitted, though raised her head defiantly. “but i wouldn’t say we were unworthy. diadems are just a little old fashioned.” she said, not in the least bit bothered that she other woman wore a diadem herself.
’ blah blah blah catastrophe, blah blah blah tragedy… yeah, yeah we get it ! this is not it, but when are we going to have some fun ? ‘ perhaps she didn’t say the right thing at the right time, but when did she ever? the young woman leaned back in her seat, dark locks of hair falling against the backrest as she closed her eyes, ‘ this sucks… honestly zyra, what a mood killer ! ‘
kosmo felt their blood boil. they were here, risking their lives while they could be home enjoying time with their children and then there were some here, chosen to protect this planet and all living beings, and they were this casual? “if you wanted fun, you should have declined to come and been honest about the fact that you are too selfish to accept the invitation.” they said, not even wincing as their harsh words left their mouth. “it’s shameful, the way you are acting.”
‘ i mean… no, they probably don’t but they definitely should. ‘ she paused momentarily before adding, ‘ elora, from ziater. ‘ cheeks tainted in a rosy shade the young woman acknowledged the other’s presence before adding, ‘ it’s a pleasure to meet you. been here for a while? or did you just arrive? ‘
“elora. gorgeous name for a gorgeous lady.” she flirted, shamelessly. “the pleasure is all mine.” she assured her, before she answered: “i arrived a few hours ago, and i do admit... i quite like it here. for now.”
excitement bubbled through his veins, gleaming hues were glued to the page before him– he had managed to pick up one of those, what he assumed must have been vintage, tour guide booklets from a stand. surely this was antiquated right? or did people still use this sort of information? ‘ look ! ‘ he exclaimed, ‘ they had all these cute little cooking courses and galleries… do you think they’re still around? ‘
kosmo looked over at their little sibling and sighed deeply. “you should be preparing for battle, leon, not looking at... magazines, or whatever that is. we do not have time to have fun, we must... practice, prepare - not get distracted. you are distracted.” they said as they shook their head, worry evident in their face.
eyes narrowed slightly, painted lips pursed into a thin line, ‘ honestly though, who actually does still wear those? it’s a crown or nothing ! ‘ not that she had any title to support those words on, but she liked to think of herself as more than she actually was. ‘ as the ancients say, absolutely tragic. ‘
“do the ancients say that, though?” she wondered with a smirk. “i am isoke, from the planet of romulea. and who do i have the pleasure of meeting?” she wondered as she eyed the admittedly gorgeous other woman.
“can’t believe we’re here for a diadem. i mean... who even wears that anymore?” the winx sighed as she crossed her arms. to be honest, as much bravado as isoke showed, she was pretty scared. she didn’t want to die over this. for once, she wished she wasn’t as good as she was, that she hadn’t been selected. she was not brave - maybe she was a coward but it was the truth.
